5550 Hollywood Breaks Ground

Construction is finally underway on the 280-unit mixed-use project from developer Sonny Astani, Building LA reports. The PSL Architects-designed project will contain nearly 13k SF of ground-floor retail and was estimated to run about $100M, the LA Times reported in 2012. The project was slowed by several appeals that Falcon Studios, a performing arts program founded in 1929, was not being properly preserved. Astani plans to incorporate the old structure into his design.
