The 1,100-foot-tall, 73-story Wilshire Grand Center is now open to the public.

The building opened Friday with much fanfare, parties and a public light show to celebrate what now holds bragging rights as the tallest building west of the Mississippi, stripping the U.S. Bank Tower of that title.

It took three years to build the Korean Air-developed property at Wilshire Boulevard and Figueroa Street in DTLA, Curbed Los Angeles reports.

An 889-room InterContinental Hotel, set to open July 2, is also part of the project.
