Boyle Heights Gentrification Wars Continue

Placeholder

The next round of the fight to gentrify Boyle Heights is underway. Permits have been filed with the city for an 81-room hotel on this lot on Soto Street near the 10 Freeway, Curbed reports. Details on the proposal are extremely limited, but include that it would be above parking and, Curbed reports, likely low-rise.

This is just the latest in a string of efforts to gentrify the area. Just last week, residents shot down a proposal from Metro to build 120k SF of retail and medical office surrounding Mariachi Plaza. The $49M project is being scrapped as Metro returns to the drawing board. Considering the vocal locals, you can expect this hotel may have some naysayers as well.
