Maria Thompson joined Hoffman & Associates in 2015 and as Executive Vice President of Construction oversees construction for all projects including The Wharf Phase 2, Waterfront Station, Seaboard Station, and West Falls Church, representing over $3B of Hoffman’s expanding portfolio.

With nearly three decades of industry experience, Thompson has managed projects totaling nearly $4B in the DC Metro Area. She previously served as Vice President of Business Acquisition at Balfour Beatty and started her career as a Project Engineer at Clark Construction.

Maria is a LEED® Accredited Professional and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Morgan State University and M.S. in Management from the University of Maryland University College.

As the Southeast Regional President, Roberta Liss is responsible for Cushman & Wakefield’s entire business in the state of Florida, Atlanta, Nashville and the Carolinas. Roberta is responsible for transformation and growth, client relationships, talent development and performance management across the Southeast U.S.

Prior to this role, Roberta served as President, East Region, overseeing all of Cushman & Wakefield’s business in one third of the US. She partnered with leaders in Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Bethesda, and Tysons Corner offices to advance corporate strategic growth, transformation, and operational optimization initiatives. She joined Cassidy Turley/DTZ, a predecessor Cushman & Wakefield company, in 2015 and served as Managing Principal for the Washington, DC Metro Region, as well as the President of the Eastern Region for DTZ.

Before joining DTZ, Roberta served as Executive Vice President of Leasing, Marketing and Acquisitions at BECO Management. Before joining BECO, she was Executive Vice President of CBRE in Washington, DC, where she was a tenant and landlord broker and led strategic planning efforts. She also has served as Director of Brokerage for Washington, DC, and Maryland at Trammell Crow Co. where she was a principal and led capital markets, tenant representation, agency leasing, retail leasing and tax appeal.

During her 36-year career, Roberta has executed transactions totaling more than 30 million square feet of space, has transacted eight building sales, and has advised Fortune 100 companies, financial institutions, health care companies, institutional owners and private developers on real estate matters, transactions and strategic planning.

Roberta received a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University, as part of the University's 5-Year Engineering Program.

Kyle Schoppmann serves as the President of CBRE’s Mid-Atlantic Division, which includes offices in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Kyle oversees the day-to-day strategic direction, performance and growth of the Mid-Atlantic Division for all CBRE lines of business. She holds responsibility for the development and management of our professionals, directing the creation and implementation of tools and training that drive their success.

Kyle joined CBRE as Managing Director, Brokerage Services, in 2007, assumed responsibility for Capital Markets as Senior Managing Director in 2009, and in 2014 was promoted to Executive Managing Director. She served as the head of Occupier Services and Executive Managing Director for CBRE’s Tri-State region prior to leading the Mid-Atlantic Division.

Kyle has more than 20 years of experience in sales strategy, training and professional development. She was previously a Consulting Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and then IBM, where she worked closely with C-level executives on complex change initiatives. Prior to IBM, she held various sales and marketing positions at the Dow Chemical Company.

Kyle currently serves as a member of CBRE’s Executive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. She is also a member of Leadership Greater Washington (Class of 2019), Federal City Council and the Economic Club of Washington, D.C. Mr. Marquez, Sr. EVP and President of Commercial Banking joined the Company in August 2011. Mr. Marquez has over 29 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining EagleBank, he established the real estate lending franchise for HSBC for the Washington, DC market. Earlier he was the head of Commercial Real Estate lending at Chevy Chase Bank from 1997 to 2005 and previously held various lending positions at The Riggs National Bank in Washington, DC after starting his career at the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.

As a business executive and consultant, Kathy creates and implements critical business operations

solutions for commercial real estate companies in Metro DC. With nearly four decades of experience,

she understands the drivers, constraints, trends and unique value in our submarkets, product types and

fee services. She has been responsible for revenue producing divisions in property management, asset

management, construction, development, leasing and sales ranging from $25M to $100M. A graduate of

In 2006 Ms. Johnson was named global ambassador for CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty by empowering women because they have the unique power to help entire communities escape poverty. “Sheila’s I Am Powerful Challenge” was instrumental in helping raise funds for CARE’s important work. She served as a member of Accordia Global Health Foundation’s International Council, rallying support for the foundation’s efforts to overcome the burden of infectious diseases in Africa.

A fervent supporter of education, the Sheila C. Ms. Harmon, Co-Founder and CEO of Artemis Real Estate Partners, is

an industry leader and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of

experience in real estate. Ms. Harmon, along with Penny Pritzker, co-

founded Artemis Real Estate Partners in 2009. She has oversight

responsibility for the firm, establishing and managing the firm’s strategic

direction.

Prior to co-founding Artemis, Ms. Harmon spent 17 years establishing

and leading the principal investing business at J.E. Robert Companies,

Inc., a global real estate investment firm where she was President and

Chief Investment Officer from 1997 until her departure in 2007.

Ms. Harmon currently serves as Chairperson of the Pension Real Estate

Association Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors of Urban

Alliance, a key leader and former trustee of the Urban Land Institute, and

a member of the Advisory Boards of Jasper Ridge Charitable Fund and

the BlackIvy Group. She also serves on the Advisory Council for the NYU

Stern Center for Business and Human Rights and as a member of the

Council on Foreign Relations.

Ms. Harmon was previously appointed by President Obama to serve as a

Commissioner for the White House Fellows program and was a member

of the Board of Directors for Forest City Enterprises [NYSE: FCE] and

Avis Group Holdings [NYSE: AVI]. She previously served on the Board of

the Pension Real Estate Association and on the Board and Executive

Committee of Women for Women International.

Ms. Harmon previously served on the Advisory Board for the Johns

Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and the Boards of

Trustees for The Sidwell Friends School, The National Cathedral

Elementary School, and The National Children’s Research Center in

Ms. Harmon was recognized in 2020 by Barron’s on its inaugural list of

Stephanie Williams, President of Bozzuto Management Company and Operating Partner of The Bozzuto Group, has remained focused on providing extraordinary experiences to residents, clients, partners and employees of the company since joining the company in 2004.

She directs the operations and an array of specialized initiatives for an apartment portfolio of 77,000 units across over 265 properties in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Southern regions. In 2017, Stephanie earned the Multi-Housing News Excellence Award for Executive of the Year, was named Minority Business Leader by Washington Business Journal and was honored as a member of Baltimore Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40. In 2018, under Stephanie’s leadership, Bozzuto Management Company was awarded #1 Property Management Company by the National Association of Home Builders. Stephanie is Board member of the Real Estate Executive Council and an active member of the Urban Land Institute, and the District of Columbia Building Industry Association.

Robin Mosle is the Founding Partner at Of Place and leads the vision of the company. Bringing over thirty-five years of retail mixed-use development, asset management and operations experience, her career has focused primarily on the careful tailoring of strategy to match the needs of the investor and the real estate. Janis B. Schiff is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and co-chair of the firm's

National Retail Development and Leasing Team. Ms. Schiff has extensive experience representing

property owners, asset managers and investors in connection with the development, redevelopment,

sale, acquisition and leasing of retail, residential, condominium, office, industrial, and mixed-use

properties and venues. She represents clients in all facets of commercial real estate, including foreign

investment in the United States, public-private partnerships, government leasing, financial workouts and

restructurings, acquisition and sales contracts for improved and unimproved properties, and borrower

and lender representation, and retail and office leasing. She also serves as co-editor of Holland &

Knight's Retail and Commercial Development and Leasing Blog.

Ms. Schiff previously served as the firm's client service and development partner. In this role, she worked

with members of the firm's senior management and clients to develop and implement client initiatives on

a firmwide basis. She coordinates the firm's Rising Stars mentoring and leadership program, which she

co-founded in 2003, and is the immediate past chair of the firm's National Real Estate Section.

Ms. Schiff has also served as an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins University Berman Real Estate

Ms. Lee is a Senior Development Manager at Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners specializing in complex urban mixed-use development projects including financing, zoning/entitlements, design, permitting, construction, leasing, and disposition. Since joining Jair Lynch in 2003, Ms. Lee has provided development and construction management expertise on multiple projects for investors and a distinguished list of public, private, and non-profit clients.

Ms. Lee is currently managing The Heritage at Old Town redevelopment which will include the construction of 598 new apartment homes in two new buildings including 140 affordable homes through the federal Housing Assistance Program (“HAP”), along with site improvements of Wilkes Street Public Park. Concurrently, Ms. Lee is managing the development of a 2.14-acre assemblage located directly adjacent to the Rhode Island Ave Metro station and the Metropolitan Branch Trail, with the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The assemblage includes 590 new apartment homes and is designed to uphold high quality standards, include innovative green construction elements, and deliver a truly unique, signature destination.

Recently, Ms. Lee completed The Kelvin and eNvy at 1250 Half Street SE in the heart of the vibrant and burgeoning Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, just steps away from the main gate to Nationals Park. The iconic building includes 439 luxury apartments and 60,000 square foot of entertainment destination retail. Ms. Lee also recently finished managing the revitalization of the 600 block of H Street NE, delivering not only 307 Class A apartment above 10,000 square feet of retail but also creating an authentic and creative residential community with of neighborhood-serving retail called ANTHOLOGY DC. Ms. Lee also oversaw the extensive renovation of a fully leased 80,000 square foot office building with prime retail spaces.

In addition to managing revitalization and renovation efforts, Ms. Lee provides development management services to third party clients that require her expertise in balancing limited budgets, varying scopes of work, and delivering projects on time.

Brittany is a social impact trailblazer. Her personal mission is to help eliminate one of the biggest wealth gaps, by supporting women in the creation of generational wealth.

While in college Brittany started her first company which she grew to a staff of 19 people with a large client base in DMV (Dc, Maryland, Virginia) area.

After many years as a real estate professional concurrently, she saw an opportunity to pivot her 15 years of experience into the formation of a real estate consultancy that has a vision to help individuals buy, sell, and invest in real estate around the world.

Her current focus includes building a team of international residential and commercial real estate professionals, completing a new home development in Houston, Tx, and continuing to support the growth of the Women In Real Estate ™ organization.

Katie Lenss is Managing Director for Rockefeller Group. In this role, Ms. Lenss directs the development process for the company’s joint venture projects in the Mid-Atlantic region with a focus on executing future mixed-use and industrial developments in Washington, D.C., and throughout the region. Representative projects include 1901 L Street NW, a 200,000 square foot office redevelopment that delivered in 2020, and 600 5th Street NW, the upcoming redevelopment of WMATA’s headquarters into a 400,000 square foot trophy quality commercial office building.

Ms. Lenss was previously a director for Hines. While at Hines, her projects included 1213 Walnut Street, a 322-unit 26-story multifamily high-rise in Center City, Philadelphia, and The Residences at CityCenter, a $200 million condominium project in downtown Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Hines, she worked for Host Hotels & Resorts in asset management; for PM Hotel Group as Director of Facilities for a portfolio of 15 Hilton/Starwood Hotels; and for Gateway Hospitality Group, where she was a financial and development analyst.

Ms. Lenss has a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree from The Wharton School.

I grew up in Silver Spring, MD, attending Paint Branch High School with my older sister and younger brother. I graduated from Lafayette College with a Civil Engineering Degree, structurally focused. In the last six years I have worked my way from Field Engineer to Superintendent at Whiting-Turner. During my construction career I have worked on the MGM National Harbor, 1701 Rhode Island, and most recently, the City Ridge Development in Tenleytown. My favorite work has been lowering the foundations of the historic Fannie Mae building along Wisconsin Avenue in order for the first Wegmans in DC to be built underneath. I also enjoy engaging with middle and high school students to enlighten them about opportunities in STEM and the construction industry.

Erin Cotter is Leasing Director for BXP in the Washington D.C. region. Erin joined BXP in 2019 and assists with the leasing strategy implementation of BXP’s 5M SF+ Reston Town Center (RTC) office portfolio. Erin and her team secured the majority of leasing activity in the Dulles Corridor in 2021, which was of the top performing submarkets in the country for the year. Since joining BXP, Erin has participated in 80 lease transactions totaling over 2M SF and stabilizing the RTC portfolio where the current vacancy rate is ~6%. Prior to joining BXP, she worked for Cushman & Wakefield for 6 years representing tenants and landlords in the Washington D.C. region; and started her career for Davis Carter Scott in marketing. Erin has a degree in Bachelor of Science, Business Administration from Christopher Newport University.

Emalia Tamanikwa is an experienced real estate professional with a record of providing

customer-focused solutions and driving performance in fast paced environments. As a

forward thinker and hyper connector, Emalia draws inspiration from her environment

and experience while inspiring others to identify opportunities of disruption. She is adept

in accentuating similarities and differences across affinity groups to create spaces that

bring community members together.

As Development Associate for EDENS, Emalia manages underwriting models, analyzes

and evaluates financial, operational and market data, and plays a pivotal role in all

aspects of the development process, including acquisitions, entitlement, design,

construction, marketing and leasing.

Emalia is leading the EDENS development team on several high-profile projects in DC.

She is currently in the process of entitling and designing a 418K SF mixed-use

development comprised of 374 dwelling units and 31K SF of commercial space in Union

Market District. Concurrently, Emalia is lead retail developer for the site that is home to

two historically landmarked buildings located across Howard University Hospital in the

Duke District. The Bond Bread and WRECO parcels, to which Howard University

awarded EDENS the development rights for the 2.2-acre project, at completion, will

have 650K SF of development and contain 440 units, a 180-key hotel and 50K SF of

Retail GLA. She is also managing the National Research Center for Health Disparities

(Lot 3 Building); this 3-acre site is currently home to a 315-space surface parking lot and

will be redeveloped into a mixed-use project with 430 residential units, 260K SF of

office/medical space, 40K SF of ground floor retail.

Emalia’s experience in real estate began at JLL as a Project Manager, where she

managed the proposal development process, interpreted quantitative data, provided

market research and developed data collection systems and other strategies to optimize

statistical efficient and data quality used for business development.  After three years in

this role, she was promoted to a Financial Analyst position where she oversaw business

process improvements.

Emalia has been a mentor for several years, mentoring high school and college

students by providing guidance and advice as they evaluate next steps in their careers.

She has been an advocate and ally for her mentees at various stages of their lives,

hosting study sessions to help students prepare for SATs, or giving career advice to

post-college grads.

With nearly a decade of experience in commercial real estate, Sofia leads The Brand Guild’s real estate team and crisis response services. She specializes in developing and executing impactful media messaging and strategies as well as providing ongoing counsel to clients in real estate, government, sports, and tech. Sofia’s successes include masterminding the press efforts of The Wharf, one of the largest waterfront development projects in the country, resulting in 3 billion press impressions in the opening week alone. Most recently, she led the press efforts for the completion of The Wharf with the unveiling of Phase 2. She also leads press efforts for large-scale development projects and their corporate executives across the country, leading a team that consistently secures coverage in media outlets ranging from local broadcast and regional trade publications to national lifestyle and top-tier business outlets. Prior to joining The Brand Guild, Sofia managed communications campaigns for a variety of policy-focused clients ranging from immigration to education to presidential candidates to documentary films. She has also created and worked on crisis and corporate social responsibility campaigns for some of the world’s largest energy companies and is experienced in C-suite media training.

Originally from Gainesville, FL, she graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in public relations and a political science concentration.

Christine Espenshade joined Newmark in 2019 as a vice chairmen in the company’s

Washington, DC, office. A 25-year multifamily real estate veteran, Christine has substantial

expertise in the sale, financing, and capitalization of multifamily investments throughout the

United States with a specialty in the Washington, DC region. During her investment sales

career, she has managed the sale or recapitalization of more than $9 billion in multifamily

investments.

Prior to Newmark, Christine co-led JLL’s national multifamily platform while also leading a Mid-

Atlantic-based multifamily sales and finance team. Prior to launching her career in investment

sales, she held positions at Munimae, JPI and Archon Group with responsibilities focused on the

development of student, seniors and family housing; property management; construction

management; accounting; valuation policy; and underwriting.

Christine earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the department of politics at Princeton

University.

Elizabeth Cooper is a senior corporate executive with over 30 years of experience in

commercial real estate driving operational excellence and innovative strategies to her clients.

Elizabeth’s career reflects a demonstrated track record of strategic leadership, P&L

management and development of innovative talent strategies, including leading diversity and

inclusion policies and programs. She also brings a deep background in governance experience

through her non-profit and industry organization boards.

Currently, Elizabeth is a Vice Chairman at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a Fortune 500 company and global leader in

Elizabeth’s unique legal skills as a real estate attorney at an AM Law 50 firm led to her founding and co-leading JLL’s

Elizabeth is past President of the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association (CREBA) of Greater Washington, DC,

where she reorganized the management structure and hired all new leadership, which resulted in significantly

improved Board governance and a solid financial position for CREBA. Elizabeth remains an active Board Member, and

is a founding member and leader of CREBA’s Mentor Program that seeks to attract and retain diverse talent in the

commercial brokerage business.

Barb Mackin is a Commercial Real Estate Market Executive at EagleBank and is an expert in

finance, asset management, and commercial real estate operations. Barb has extensive

corporations and large private companies in numerous industries, including financial services and commercial

and residential real estate.

Bryn advises her clients in corporate risk taking, including legal and regulatory risk, litigation management,

succession planning, strategic repositioning and business growth. Examples of her work include representing a

multi-state assisted living operator in divesting itself of 12 assisted living centers with a public company JV

partner and resolving approximately $60 million in related debt. The operator avoided defaulted obligations and

avoided bankruptcy. Restructuring ultimately created shareholder value through nine remaining cash-flow

positive centers. She also represented the primary District of Columbia women’s hospital specializing in

obstetrics and gynecology through Chapter 11 filing due to $22 million in debt. Bryn’s work led to a consensual

plan of liquidation resulting in full payment to all creditors and partnering with a national developer to redevelop

the site into upscale residences.

Bryn is the firm’s largest annual revenue producer and has generated an increase of more than 10 percent in

revenue each year since 2009. She currently is a member of the firm’s Creditor Rights, Reorganization and

Bankruptcy Practice Group, Distressed Real Estate and the Real Estate Law and Transaction Practice Group.

Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Bryn was a partner with Deckelbaum Ogens & Fisher, CHTD., a corporate law

firm whose practice areas include bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, business transactions, commercial law and

real estate. She represented debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases

and led single asset debt restructuring, relief from stay litigation, bankruptcy fraud litigation, cash collateral

issues and confirmation litigation. Additionally, she helped develop business strategies with national

commercial financial institutions and banks to maintain asset value and explore business alternatives to avoid

foreclosed business assets.

Tiffany joined LISC in 2020 and has fifteen years of experience in commercial real estate

finance and social impact investment. Tiffany currently serves as the Senior Directors of Fund

Investments where she is responsible for pipeline development and the deal origination strategy.

This includes fund design, and product development and oversight of the underwriting, approval

and closing process.

Prior to joining LISC, Tiffany served as Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager at

KeyBank Real Estate Capital, one of the largest capital providers of affordable housing

nationwide. As a commercial real estate lender, she originated over $200M in debt capital

solutions including construction debt, acquisition, bridge-to-resyndication, lines of credit and on-

balance sheet permanent loans to owner-operators and developers.

Prior to KeyBank, Tiffany served as an Associate at MicroVest Capital Management, an impact

investment firm that provides private debt capital to international microfinance institutions and

small and medium enterprises. During her tenure, Tiffany was the primary manager of a $160M

international microfinance investment portfolio through five private equity funds and advisory

contracts.

Tiffany holds a MA from George Washington University (GWU) and a BA from the University

of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

With more than 38 years of experience, Kay is a recognized expert on workplace design and

strategy issues. She is an award-winning designer who has worked with several Fortune 500

companies to optimize their global real estate portfolios and create innovative work

environments based on their unique organizational DNA. As Co-Director of HOK’s WorkPlace

team, a practice that supports organizations undertaking multiple projects in various locations,

and a member of HOK’s Board of Directors, Kay is responsible for helping clients redefine how,

when and where their people work, and supports a holistic design approach that integrates an

organization’s people, processes, and technology. She was recently selected from her field of

peers to provide Congressional Subject Matter Expert Testimony to the U.S. House of

Representatives on “Federal Real Estate Post-COVID-19: A View from The Private Sector.”

In 2020 Kay was named ASID’s Designer of Distinction for the year. Kay is considered an

industry thought leaders on workplace. She has authored multiple white papers and articles on

a variety of design related topics including wellbeing; next gen workforce; technologies impact

on the workplace; space fusion and the rise of the human factor.

In 2021 Kay was elected to both the ASID and the IIDA College of Fellows and inducted into the

2022 SCN Hall of Fame, celebrate contributions to the AV/IT industry. In 2022 Kay was

recognized by both Melwood and IFMA for her continued research and efforts to bring

awareness to DEI initiatives and the needs of the neurodiverse community. Kay was awarded

the IFMA Distinguished Author Awards for her research and whitepapers on Neurodiversity and

was awarded the first Melwood Ability Awards - Inaugural Accelerator Award for her efforts to

raise awareness about the needs of the Neurodiverse.

Kay currently serves on the National ASID Foundation Research Taskforce, the IWBI Health

Anica leads HOK’s global sustainable design practice, serving on the firm’s board of directors

and design board.

Based in Washington, DC, Anica manages the successful development and implementation of

sustainability strategies on local and worldwide projects, working with both public and private

sectors clients on regional, campus, portfolio and building scale projects, including existing

building stock.

Anica serves locally on the Green and Energy Codes TAG, is on the Mayor’s Green Building

Advisory Council and co-chairs the Building Energy Performance Standard Task Force. Anica

also serves on the national USGBC LEED Advisory Committee, IECC 2024 Code Development

Committee and Consultative Council for the National Institute for Building Sciences. She is a

Senior Fellow of the New Buildings Institute and a member of the AIA’s 2021 Board

Government Advocacy Committee.

Anica previously served on the AIA Blue Ribbon Panel on Codes, coauthoring Disruption,

Evolution, and Change: AIA’s Vision for the Future of Design and Construction. With the U.S.

General Services Administration, she coauthored The New Sustainable Frontier: Principles of

Sustainable Development.

Anica’s testimony before Congress and policy recommendations were included in the Majority

Staff Report, Solving the Climate Crisis: The Congressional Action Plan for a Clean Energy

Economy and a Healthy, Resilient, and Just America.

Malanda Worrell is the Senior Vice President of Market Strategy for the Mid-Atlantic region. In this position, Malanda partners closely with JLL’s Mid-Atlantic Market Director to develop and execute various growth and productivity initiatives throughout the region. This includes direct oversight of certain business sectors and the creation of targeted growth strategies for segments of the region. Malanda provides data-driven metrics to inform strategic and operational decisions.

Malanda has been a valuable contributor to JLL’s strategic initiatives throughout her time working in the Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to taking her current role, Malanda’s leadership helped transition the company into stronger pandemic-era footing in 2020 while keeping the largest commercial leasing brokerage — with $163 million in revenue generated from local operations and 24.7 million total local square feet leased in 2019 — successful. Additionally, Malanda was the Americas Black Professionals Network (BPN) Americas Operations Lead, created a Mid-Atlantic Diversity & Inclusion Council and spearheaded training initiatives within the region. She also co-led JLL’s Mid-Atlantic Summer Internship Program

Outside of the office, Malanda works to bring a strong leadership perspective to a variety of other nonprofit organizations, including Make-A-Wish and A Wider Circle. She has been a noteworthy leader in the DEI space and participated on Project REAP cohort of 2019. In 2021, Malanda was recognized as a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Washington Business Journal. Malanda is a Board Member of Wesley Housing as well as Global Citizens Public Charter School. She earned an International Business and Finance - Bachelor’s Degree from Howard University and currently resides in Southeast, DC with her husband and son.

Dr. Gina Merritt is an award-winning, experienced real estate developer specializing in

community development. She has been involved in over 8,000 units of housing in various stages

of development, managing the entitlement process, structuring and securing the required

financing, managing the design, and the overall construction process.

Dr. Merritt has expertise in managing large development projects with complicated

financing and ownership structures. She has also underwritten over $4.0 billion in real estate

transactions. Her real estate development expertise includes mixed-use development,

apartments, condominiums, single-family homes, and public-private real estate transactions.

NREUV's recent real estate advisory engagements include consulting for the University of

Virginia on its Affordable Housing Initiative and consulting for the Charlottesville

Redevelopment and Housing Authority on their Sustainability Study. NREUV is also managing

Dr. Merritt earned a BBA from Howard University, MBA from the Darden School at the

University of Virginia, and a Doctorate in Social Innovation at the University of Southern

California. Dr. Merritt's recent industry recognitions include the Stevie Award for Changemaker

of the Year-Race, Baltimore Business Journal's Leaders in Diversity Award 2022, Enterprising

Women of the Year Award 2022, and the Social Innovation Summit Award-Economic

Empowerment 2022. She resides in Baltimore, Maryland, with her husband and daughter.

Raedun de Alba is an Associate Director of Engineering at Van Metre Companies in

Broadlands, Virginia. In her role she manages engineers, architects, and consultants to develop

site plans and building plans for new single family, townhome, condominium, and amenity

developments within the Van Metre Land Development department of the New Homes Division.

Prior to joining Van Metre, she was a licensed Architect managing single family, multifamily,

Assisted Living, and community amenity buildings in the DC Metro region.

She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and was awarded

the Fifth Year Scholarship. She has been involved in the Urban Land Institute, participating in

the Young Leaders Group Mentorship program. She has served on the Board of Directors of the

AIA Northern Virginia Chapter and participated in the AIA Virginia Emerging Leaders in

Architecture program, selected as the Chapter nominee. She has served on the Local

Organizing Committee for the Emerging Leaders in Architecture program, assisting young

She has been active in Community Theater and received the Washington Area Community

Earlier in her career, she was a Community Manager at Archstone-Smith managing several multifamily units in Fairfax and Arlington, Virginia.

Jennifer holds a bachelor's degree in government and international politics from George Mason University and serves in leadership roles with industry associations including IREM Chapter 77 and AOBA.

As President of The Menkiti Group’s Neighborhood Transformation platform, Caroline Kenney is responsible for oversight and strategic direction of the Company’s $2 Billion Real Estate Development pipeline, 60-property portfolio of mixed-use operating assets, and $50 Million Obsidian Catalyst Fund. The firm’s Development and Asset Management portfolios extend along the Eastern Seaboard, with major concentrations in the Washington, DC, and Boston, MA regions.

Prior to joining The Menkiti Group in the Fall of 2024, Caroline enjoyed a nearly 20-year tenure with Urban Atlantic, completing over $1 Billion in mixed-use, mixed-income real estate projects and spearheading landmark public-private developments such as the 66-acre Parks at Walter Reed (DC), 45-acre Cheverly Hospital Redevelopment (MD), and 350-unit mixed-income Trella multifamily development in Charlotte (NC). Caroline holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BA in Political Philosophy from Wheaton College (IL). She serves on the Board of Jubilee Housing, the Advisory Committee of the ULI Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative (past Chair), and the Leadership Council of the ULI P3 Product Council (Blue Flight), and serves in multiple capacities with the Ward 7-based Peace Fellowship Church (DC).

Katie serves as Senior Vice President, Business Development for NFP. In this role Katie leads NFP’s Atlantic region sales team, working with advisors to drive new business opportunities and strengthen current client relationships. Katie’s vast knowledge of the insurance industry and her own sales experience have been instrumental forces in NFP’s continual year-over-year growth. Prior to her current role, Katie led NFP’s Mid-Atlantic key accounts team, overseeing the daily corporate benefits sales and service operation.
