Trained both in architecture and landscape architecture, Ms. Fan’s

design work focuses on place making that reflects the cultural,

environmental and architectural surroundings for the land. A frequent

recipient of ASLA awards, her designs create beautiful, memorable

places, as well as enhancing real estate value. Her work includes a

wide variety of projects ranging from commercial, institutional and

planning projects to public streetscape revitalization. She brings energy

and enthusiasm to all phases of every project, a dedicated approach

with extensive benefits to the client. Ms. Fan is a LEED Accredited

Professional with a focus on sustainable site initiatives and smart

growth. She leads sustainable design efforts at LSG.

Certified by the Chicago Botanic Garden in Healthcare Garden Design,

she has worked on several CCRC campuses (Erickson, Sunrise,

BrightView, etc.), 4 out of the 5 INOVA hospitals and Sibley Hospital.

Ms. Fan also serves as an Associate Consultant for the Hong Kong

Association of Therapeutic Horticulture.

Connie holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from SUNY College

of Environmental Science and Forestry, as well a degree from the

School of Architecture at Southeast University, Nanking. In recent

academic settings such as George Washington University and

University of Maryland, as well as serving on Planning, Zoning and

related committees in Fairfax County. Among her regional affiliations,

Ms. Fan has been influential in the growth of the Greater Washington

Asian American Architects and Engineering Professionals organization.

Ms. Fan’s work with LSG has led to numerous ASLA awards, among

them the St. Elizabeth Mitigation Project in the Capitol Hill area, Eliot on

4 th Residential development in the District of Columbia, and several

awards for her work with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Janelia

Research Campus in Northern Virginia. Her work with HHMI has

bridged the years from 2006 through the present, across many phases

of development, construction and expansion, and has achieved

recognition through regional and Virginia and Maryland awards.

Scott Gensler identifies and evaluates new business opportunities for Erickson Living. He has an impressive knowledge of key aspects of the senior living business, including development, acquisitions, finance, sales and marketing, and operations.

Scott holds an M.B.A. from the Sellinger School of Business at Loyola College and a B.S. from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. He serves as the vice chair of the Fund for Educational Excellence, a local education fund working to improve student achievement in Baltimore City schools. He also serves on the board of the JCC of Greater Baltimore and Beth Israel Congregation.

Gale is responsible for the coordination and oversight of sales and occupancy efforts for Mather senior living residences. She works with sales teams within each residence to guide them in meeting their goals, and has led them to master the art of relationship selling.

Gale has also been instrumental in training management and frontline teams within senior living and community-based initiatives in providing extraordinary customer experiences.

Before joining Mather, Gale served as AVP of Sales & Marketing for Classic Residence by Hyatt and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Retirement Community Specialists.

Scott Stewart is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capitol Seniors Housing (CSH), a national seniors housing investment firm. CSH is a joint venture partner with one of the largest university endowments in the United States, and in 2013 became the first partner in the endowment’s direct investment business to recognize the sale of a portfolio of assets. CSH also partners with The Carlyle Group (Carlyle), one of the world’s largest private equity groups with $185.0 billion under management. Both CSH and Carlyle are headquartered in Washington, D.C.

CSH was formed in the fall of 2003 with a mission to opportunistically acquire, develop and own independent living, assisted living and continuum of care retirement communities (CCRCs) in major U.S. markets. CSH utilizes third party operators to manage the facilities on a fee or joint venture basis.

To date, the company has amassed a nationwide portfolio of more than 50 assets valued at more than $1.0 billion. CSH has also realized a combined gross profit of $335 million for its investors with the timely sale of certain assets within a seven year period. Prior to forming CSH, Mr. Stewart ran the Acquisitions Group for Sunrise Senior Living, one of the country’s premier seniors housing service providers. Before that, he headed up the acquisitions, development and construction efforts for Homestead Village, Security Capital Group’s extended-stay hotel company. Throughout his career, Stewart has been a featured speaker at industry events, most recently with the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care (NIC) and InterFace Seniors Housing Business.

Mr. Stewart is currently an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, teaching the class “Multifamily, Affordable & Seniors Housing” (MPRE 709-40) for the university’s Masters in Real Estate Program. Active in the community, he is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and serves on the boards of the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) and Hopecam, a nonprofit organization that uses technology to connect children undergoing cancer treatment with their classmates. In 2013, he founded Seniors4Seniors, a scholarship program that rewards college-bound high school seniors who have demonstrated active, consistent and dedicated involvement in their local seniors housing communities.

Mr. Stewart earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts and a BBA from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Katina Polk is Geriatrician rooted in Community Development. She is the owner and CEO of

Dynamic Solutions for the Aging, LLC (www.agingincommunities.com). Dr. Polk was born and raised

by her great-great-grandmother within an influential community ecosystem, a "Village" in Philadelphia,

PA. She earned her Ph.D. in Public Policy with an Aging Health Services specialization from Walden

University and her Master of Public Policy and Administration from Southeastern University. She has

more than 30 years of subject matter expertise in Aging Development and Community and Neighborhood

Revitalization.

Dr. Polk has overwhelmingly linked more than 7,000 seniors to supportive services across multiple

platforms, successfully built numerous service delivery networks, efficiently structured and coordinated

community food cooperative initiatives, and innovatively designed senior "aging-in-place" village

models, as the former Vice President of Enterprise Community Development. Her current work includes

establishing, managing, and helping preserve more than 300 community partner relationships with local

non-profit organizations, corporations, and government agencies across the country. She is also assisting

with several global projects to develop vibrant, person-centered, sustainable communities that support

lifespan living. Dr. Polk's life work aims to improve health and supportive service delivery systems,

create lifespan living opportunities through "Age-Friendly" initiatives, and enhance community and

neighborhood revitalization efforts. She is interested in expanding an "all-inclusive" economy that

provides low-income individuals and families, seniors, persons with disabilities, and veterans'

participatory rights.

Dr. Polk impeccable career has led to a mayoral appointment as the co-chair of Housing for the Age-

FriendlyDC Commission, nomination to AARP DC Executive Council and selection to serve as the VP of

55+ Housing Committee for Maryland Building Industry Association. She is a co-developer of the first

national supportive service senior health village, the Legacy Collaborative Senior Village

(www.legacycollaborative8.org) and have recently, co-authored two publications with Ujima Developer,

LLC on Aging and Housing related topics. Currently, Dr. Polk resides in a highly gentrifying

neighborhood in Southeast DC, where she is raising a great-niece, who accompanies her in actual

Christopher E. Donald was appointed Interim Executive Director in January 2020. As Interim Executive

Director he is responsible for the overall supervision, coordination and strategic direction of the District of

Columbia Housing Finance Agency. Mr. Donald joined the Agency in October 2016 as the Senior Vice

President of Multifamily Lending and Neighborhood Investments. He served as part of DCHFA’s senior

management team. His primary responsibility was to manage the day-to-day operations of the

Multifamily Lending and Neighborhood Investments (formerly Public Finance) department and assist the

Executive Director & CEO with the development of multifamily programs, products, polices and strategic

planning.

Mr. Donald has over 15 years of experience in real estate finance, community building, development,

land entitlement and construction.  He’s entitled over 1MM square feet of mixed income, transit

oriented, amenity rich housing.   Mr. Donald specializes in acquisitions, entitlement, community

visioning and deal structuring.  He has completed over $1 billion in real estate financing over the course

of his career and renovated over 1,000 multifamily units and entitled and underwritten almost 3,500

multifamily units throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.   Mr. Donald has

also acquired and programmed commercial space for small local businesses and retailers.

As the Director of Development at the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing, Mr. Donald

underwrote and structured $60MM in low-income housing tax credit transactions. Over the last several

years he has provided underwriting services to the Office of State Superintendent for Education for the

District of Columbia and financed over $300 million in improvements for public charter schools using

New Markets Tax Credits, Tax Exempt Bonds and other tools. Mr. Donald began his career in finance at

Lehman Brothers in the Municipal Finance Group and underwrote $200MM in revenue bonds for the

District of Columbia.

Prior to his tenure at DCHFA, Mr. Donald served as the Principal and Co-Founder of The Leidesdorff

Group.   The Leidesdorff Group (TLG) is a diversified real estate advisory firm focused on the

regeneration of urban communities within the Mid-Atlantic region.  As a principal of TLG, Mr. Donald

focused on distressed and disinvested urban communities.   Mr. Donald is a member of the Urban Land

Institute and serves on the Board of Directors of the African American Real Estate Professionals of DC

(AAREP-DC) and the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND). He is a graduate of Stanford

University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Christy Zeitz has created a lasting impact on many organizations during her 30-year career

serving in leadership roles in management, fundraising, marketing and program

development. Zeitz has raised millions of dollars for non-profit organizations, associations,

and political campaigns. She has worked tirelessly to build strong relationships with donors,

community partners, investors, government agencies and elected officials. For many years,

Zeitz has helped nonprofits understand the power of strategic partnerships and how to

leverage these relationships to garner resources beyond just the dollars.

In 2017, Zeitz was hired as the first CEO for Fellowship Square Foundation, a non-profit

providing affordable housing and services to low-income seniors. In the last four years, she

has grown the organization both in reputation and financial footing. She has implemented a

“best practices” approach to governance, management and overall resident life for

Fellowship Square’s 850 residents. Under her leadership, the organization has seen record

growth in its income and project reserves; fundraising and event income; volunteer

engagement and community partner support; and created a diverse engaged Board of

Directors. The organization has two ambitious development projects – an $86M new

development in partnership with Enterprise to preserve 240 units of affordable senior

housing; and a $22M renovation to Hunters Woods Fellowship House.

Prior to Fellowship Square, Zeitz served as executive director for HomeAid Northern

Virginia, a non-profit that builds and renovates housing and shelters for the homeless.

Zeitz volunteers her time for many non-profit and professional organizations, including the

Naomi Project, Kappa Delta Alumnae and the Housing Association for Nonprofit

Developers. She is currently a board member for Cornerstones Housing Corp, Community

Lodgings in Alexandria and Northampton Place Condominiums. She previously served on

the board for O.A.R. Northern Virginia and the Fairfax County Domestic Violence Policy

and Prevention Coordinating Council. She received a B.A. in International Studies and

Political Science from West Virginia University and lives in Alexandria, Virginia.

Oussama Souadi is Partner at Gragg Cardona Partners and leads the development activities for the organization. For more than two decades Gragg Cardona Partners has been supporting and investing in the positive transformation of neighborhoods in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our sense of purpose, energy, transparency and collaborative character underlay the creation of more than 1,100 units of rental/for sale housing, including nearly 400 affordable units, plus 71,500 square feet of new neighborhood oriented commercial space. Many of these residential spaces are the result of partnerships with local governments and or agencies wanting to re-energize neighborhoods, stimulate economic development and empower residents. Our work has won the support of institutional investors, and national/local lenders. We’re comfortable and experienced partnering with local governments, negotiating win-win outcomes with community stakeholders, layering financial resources and crafting localized land disposition agreements, and developing high quality places for people to live, work, and play.

Brian McLaughlin is CEO of Enterprise Community Development, Inc and President of Enterprise Community investment’s Communities Division. Brian is charged with leading the overall strategic direction of both organizations, as well as Enterprise Residential – the company’s property management company. ECD is an owner, operator and developer of housing and with almost 13,000 units serving more than 20,000 residents the company stands among the country’s 10 largest nonprofit affordable housing providers. Brian oversees a team serving the Mid-Atlantic region with expertise in community planning, land development, design, construction, asset management, property management and resident services.

Brian has 24 years of diverse experience managing real estate business lines across the nonprofit, public and for-profit sectors. He began his career working in the nonprofit community development field in Boston and later in York, Pennsylvania. His real estate work spans development of market rate, workforce, historic tax credit and LIHTC supported housing. Brian has also served as assistant secretary of Maryland’s Department of Housing and Community Development where he led the state’s largest and primary division of government responsible for neighborhood revitalization programs and investments.

In addition, Brian has held various positions at Fannie Mae over the span of a decade in roles ranging from multifamily underwriting, to leading the company’s short sale product line, to directing the executive office as special assistant to the company’s president and CEO. He is also the founding CEO of Lantian Development, a Maryland-based private equity, real estate investment and development company. In that role Brian led evaluation, underwriting and negotiations for more than $1.2B in prospective investments ultimately closing seven transactions within 18 months creating a 1.4 million square foot portfolio across 403 acres in the Washington, DC metropolitan region.

An honors graduate of Duke University, Brian also holds a master’s degree in City Planning from MIT and a master’s degree in Economics from American University.

She has served in various leadership roles including president of IREM Maryland Chapter 16 and chairperson of the PMA programming committee. Peter Scialla is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Delos. Peter is responsible for executing on the strategic vision and global operations of the company with a focus on advancing the mission to drive positive health outcomes for occupants of indoor spaces around the world. He leads the commercialization of platforms and solutions that improve indoor environmental quality and enhance human health and well-being.

Prior to joining Delos, Peter had an expansive career on Wall Street spanning over 18 years, including as a Partner for Goldman Sachs where he led U.S. Equity Derivatives Trading. During his eight years at Goldman Sachs, Peter worked closely with leadership in distribution, investment banking, private wealth, and capital markets with an emphasis on both institutional trading and structured corporate repurchase. Peter also spent seven years at Morgan Stanley as Head of Single Stock Derivatives Trading.

Peter regularly speaks at industry events and contributes informative content across multiple channels to share scientific research, trends and advancements in wellness real estate, and to help advance the healthy buildings movement.
