Alex has designed and developed a wide range of innovative projects – commercial, residential and mixed use – over the past forty years. As partner in charge of Windmill’s Toronto office, he is currently directing a diverse range of sustainable infill projects underway in urban Toronto and Guelph.

As Director of Development with Context Development from 1996 to 2006, he directed residential and mixed-use projects in Toronto including District Lofts, Ideal Condominium, Mozo, Radio City, Home and Spire, as well as three adaptive re-use projects: Kensington Market Lofts, Tip Top Lofts and The Loretto.

Between 1985 and 1995 with General Leaseholds Limited, he developed and managed commercial projects, office and retail, throughout Ontario. Prior to becoming a developer, Alex practiced architecture in Toronto, Vancouver, Alberta and Jerusalem.

Alex has served as an advisor to many community organizations and non-profits including the Centre for Social Innovation, Toronto Community Housing Corporation, Artscape and Toronto District School Board (TDSB) as well as private land owners and development companies. He has served on the board of the OAA’s Committee for the Sustainable Built Environment and the Kehilla Residential Program for Affordable Housing and is currently on the Board of the Annex Residents Association.

Kareem is a noteworthy energy executive, who brings expertise in renewable energy generation, storage, infrastructure development, portfolio management, data analytics, and system process automation to his role at Subterra Renewables. He possesses a rare blend of technical and sales, as well as extensive commercial knowledge of renewable energy markets across North America.

Kareem is a successful Business Builder who has created, constructed, and led several energy companies that span the spectrum of the sector including a solar and distributed microgrid company, firms that develop combined heat and power plants and peaking generation plants in Ontario and Alberta, and a competitive retail energy corporation in Toronto.

Kareem holds an Economics degree from McMaster University.

Hugh Clark is a long-respected leader in the Canadian development industry. He recently joined

TAS, an impact investment company that uses real estate to drive profit and purpose, as Chief

Development Officer.

Prior to joining TAS, Hugh was the Executive Vice President of Development at Allied

Properties REIT a leading operator of distinctive urban workspace in Canada. While at Allied, he

oversaw the construction of several notable buildings across Toronto.

Previous to his role at Allied, Hugh spent many years working for an award-winning architectural

firm in Toronto and has worked as a licensed architect in both Ontario and Massachusetts. He is

a graduate of the University of Toronto and Harvard University.

Mr. Mansour is President of Carlyle Communities which he founded in 2010. Over the past

decade he has grown Carlyle into one of Toronto's fastest growing development platforms with

2,000+ residential units and 300,000sf of commercial real estate under development,

representing approx. $2.1 billion in development value. Mr. Mansour’s focus is to lead Carlyle to

develop holistic communities that provide public benefit to current and future residents. Day to

day responsibilities include the oversight and management of all business areas with a focus on

corporate strategy, capital partnerships and acquisitions.

Mr. Mansour obtained his Bachelor's of Business Administration and a Master's of Business

Administration, with distinction, from the Schulich School of Business. His community and non-

for-profit activities include serving on the Board of Toronto Community Housing Corporation

and lecturing at York University’s Schulich School of Business on the topic of Real Estate

Development.

Noorez Lalani is the President of MOD Developments, a preeminent real estate development firm in Toronto.

Before co-founding MOD in 2009, Noorez worked in Torkin Manes LLP’s corporate finance and commercial real estate group and as an Account Manager for the Toronto Dominion Bank Real Estate Group. There, he was responsible for underwriting and managing various residential construction loans in the condominium and homebuilding sectors.

Noorez holds a law degree from the University of Windsor and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006. Prior to attending law school, he obtained an Honors Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario. Additionally, he holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, where he specialized in Real Estate Finance and Development.

Noorez currently sits on the Toronto Artscape Foundation Board of Directors and the Urban Squash Toronto Board of Directors. He is a past Board Member of Distress Centres Toronto and a past member of the YMCA Strong Start, Great Future Campaign Cabinet.

Mara Nicolaou joined Urban Capital Property Group in 2019 as its Director of Design and Construction. With over 20 years experience in the multi-unit residential field, she plays an integral role in the development and construction of Urban Capital’s condominium projects. Mara trained as a architect and worked for a decade at architectsAlliance, focusing almost exclusively on university residences and some of Toronto’s first condominium projects. Mara then joined Toronto Community Housing playing a vital role in the re-development of both Regent Park and Alexandra Park. Deciding to go back to the private sector, she worked on site acquisitions and project approvals at Freed Developments before moving to Urban Capital. Most recently, she has worked on the award-winning River City development, Queensway Park, and Gorsebrook Park in Halifax. Mara is currently overseeing the design and construction of buildings in Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto, and very proud to be involved in Reina, the first all-female

designed, developed and managed residential project in Canada.

As the Regional Leader of Hospitality, Laura brings the unique ability to harmonize a client’s brand with the expectations of the marketplace, resulting in award-winning solutions. Laura has led efforts on behalf of HOK, for many significant residential projects in Canada; she has collaborated with an extensive collection of developers like Daniels, Minto and GWL Realty Advisors. Nurturing these relationships and honouring the importance of partnership between brand and properties is what she does best. Laura brings a wealth of understanding on brand positioning, constructability, sustainability, current design trends, and amenity space design development.

Since 1995 Robert has led over 1,000 searches across the North American real estate industry. Robert holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, an MBA from the University of Toronto and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is a trustee of NorthWest Healthcare Properties REIT where he chairs the Compensation and Governance Committee Recognized as an industry expert, Robert has made presentations across North America including Harvard’s Real Estate Academic Initiative, NYU’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, Columbia’s Masters in Real Estate Program and Wharton’s Real Estate Alumni.
