Dave Heater joined Ankrom Moisan Architects in 1990, working in Portland until 2006 when he moved to Seattle to open AMA’s second office. Today he serves as the firm’s President, championing seven diverse market segments and leading more than 360 employees to provide architecture, interiors, urban design, and branding services. As a market leader in housing design for more than 20 years, Ankrom Moisan has been instrumental in the renaissance of Portland’s Pearl District and active in the transformation of Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood with numerous mid-rise and high-rise developments. Following the design of several notable housing projects in the Bay Area, Dave oversaw the addition of a San Francisco office in July 2016. He holds a BA in Architecture from the University of Oregon.

Summary

  1. Which architectural or interior design changes will attract residents to new multifamily developments?

  2. What are downtown core apartment owners doing to retain their residents?

  3. Are suburban apartments performing well in the market? If so, what types of apartments are doing the best?

  4. More residents are moving away from urban cores. How will this influence plans for inner-city developments?

  5. How is uncertainty in the market impacting development? What will new resident demands mean for development costs?
