DCI Engineers

Ethan Martin brings a wealth of engineering design experience to DCI Engineers, particularly with his advocacy in mass timber building construction. He has conducted feasibility reports and educational presentations for clients and project stakeholders; collaborated with state officials to set new precedents in prescriptive building codes; and contributed to performance based design of taller wood constructed buildings. His mass timber projects include Flatiron PDX, 120 Clay, and Fair Haired Dumbbell. Ethan contributed to the publication Tall With Timber, a collection of mass timber case studies.

Driven to inform his team and professionals in the AEC industries, Ethan quickly becomes an asset to any multi-discipline project team. Formerly a business owner himself, Ethan is a natural leader and skilled project manager. He also co-founded the International Mass Timber Conference with Forest Business Network in Portland.

Dean Lewis

Project Manager

Swinerton

Born and raised in Seattle, Dean Lewis has spent over 10 years practicing as a structural engineer in both the Pacific Northwest and California. He first experienced working with mass timber in 2010 on the Bullitt center in Seattle. In his tenure, Dean has specialized in many different types of prefabrication and modular construction, helping introduce various types of mass timber projects to the San Francisco area in recent years. These include some of the first CLT installations, the first multi-story glulam post and beam with CLT floor project, and the first multi-story MPP project in the country. Recently, Dean moved back to his hometown looking to further advance his expertise and help bring more mass timber projects to the Northwest region with the Swinerton Mass Timber team.
