Sustainability and Building Codes You Should Be Mindful of
The codes approved by the state Building Code Council last week will require new buildings to meet higher efficiency standards than before, without explicitly mandating heat pumps.
The Clean Buildings for Washington law (HB 1257), being implemented by the Washington State Department of Commerce, applies to all “Tier 1” commercial buildings larger than 50K SF. In 2022, the State expanded the requirements to cover smaller commercial buildings (20,001 - 50K SF) and “Tier 2” multifamily buildings greater than 20K SF.
The new building efficiency standards Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell signed into law last month are expected to reduce Seattle's building sector emissions by 27% — and overall citywide emissions by 10% — by 2050.
How You'll Do More Business From Attending This Event: Seattle is aggressively targeting air pollution from buildings with a new city law that will require large buildings to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The progressive city is leading the charge with building and energy codes that are pushing the CRE community to go green. Join us for an insightful event as we bring on industry leaders to discuss everything from effectively implementing goals and requirements into your organization to setting benchmarks and key strategies for constructing and developing sustainable buildings.
Who You'll Network With At This Discussion: Owners, developers, investors, brokers, city and government officials, business consultants, architects, engineers, lawyers, accountants and bankers.
