Nhan Nguyen Le is the CEO and Managing Principal of Valiance Capital, a real estate private equity firm focused on multifamily and student housing value-add and development. Nhan leads the firm’s strategic vision, investment decisions, and all verticals of the firm’s operations. With over 13 years of real estate investment experience in the East Bay market, Nhan has executed over $250 million of projects across 40 deals. Currently, he is responsible for driving one of the most highly anticipated mid-rise developments in Berkeley, an 80,000 SF, Class A Student Housing community in the Southside district located 1 block away from UC Berkeley Campus. Over the span of a decade, he has grown Valiance from a duplex to over $200M AUM and $200M in the pipeline with the aim to becoming one of largest local suppliers of housing for UC Berkeley students. Real estate investing was the vehicle to help Nhan bring his family out of poverty and into financial independence; now, he is building a platform to create similar opportunities for others. His mission is to help people build financial freedom and sustainable wealth through long-term investment and tax strategies. He prides himself on helping everyday investors access institutional-grade real estate which has historically only been accessible for the wealthiest and most-connected investors. Nhan is also pushing new horizons with social media to expand his reach and impact to a wider audience who are pursuing dreams of financial prosperity in the real estate sector. Nhan was the first member of his family tree to graduate from a 4-year university, having attended the University of California, Berkeley as a Gates Millennium Scholar with a full-ride scholarship. Nhan intends to give back to his alma mater by addressing the most severe issue the university is experiencing -- housing. Berkeley has been home for Nhan for nearly 18 years. He currently lives on College Ave with his Shiloh Shepherd, Bruno.

Jamie is the executive overseeing ACC’s P3 division, responsible for all on-campus business development efforts, including our American Campus Equity® (ACE) program. Under Jamie’s leadership, his team has developed and/or completed more than three dozen on-campus transactions – including third party, tax-exempt bond finance projects, conventional leasehold mortgages, university general obligation bonds, and direct investments under the ACE program. These transactions comprise nearly $2.1 billion in total development cost. All told, Jamie has been involved in higher education finance for more than 25 years. Prior to joining ACC in 2007, Jamie was an investment banker specializing in higher education and related non-profit finance. Throughout his investment banking career, Jamie participated in the origination of more than $2 billion of debt and derivative transactions for more than 80 higher education institutions and nonprofits. Prior to joining the company, he also served as the investment banker for more than $350 million of ACC projects prior to joining the company. Having worked very closely with higher-ed presidents, CFOs, and finance committees, Jamie has an unmatched understanding of the complex issues these leaders face when managing their balance sheets, debt capacity, and credit ratings while successfully achieving their overall mission and vision. His deep experience and unique perspective combine to help ACC achieve win-win solutions for the colleges and universities we serve. Jamie joined ACC from RBC Bank’s public finance department, where he served as the managing director of the higher education sector. Prior to RBC, he was a managing director with Banc One Capital Markets (currently JPMorgan Capital Markets) and held positions at McDonald & Company Securities (currently KeyBanc Capital Markets) and The Ohio Company (currently Fifth Third Markets).

I have extensive real estate experience in public and private sectors in areas of right of way, Eminent Domain, development, asset management, marketing, commercial office and retail leases, ground leasing, permits, licenses, easements, CEQA process, redevelopment, feasibility analysis, land acquisition, airport property management, below market & affordable housing, solar leases, telecommunication leases, surplus disposition, non-profit leasing, economic development and site assembly of high impact projects. My experience in the public sector has been with two of the most diverse and economically challenged cities in the Bay Area, Cities of East Palo Alto and Oakland, one of the most affluent, the City of Palo Alto and finally with presently with San Francisco State University (SFSU). My experience with SFSU has been unique and rewarding. I have enjoyed working in an academic setting with various representatives and divisions of the campus. My passion and focus have been on development of quality affordable housing and academic facility for students, faculty and staff of the University and to provide oversite expertise in real estate matters. The overall goal has been to ensure that SFSU community and our graduates to be successful and to remain at the forefront of technological innovation and leadership by focusing on quality, design, cost, sustainability, equity and safety. In my time with the University, I have contributed to the development of several outstanding high- quality housing and academic projects and have been able to add revenue and cut cost by effective and efficient management of the real estate assets of the University.
