The Hodgson Company is a Sacramento based real estate development, land use and government advocacy firm which specializes in the entitlement and development of real estate and land use projects throughout Northern California. The Hodgson Company has been involved in some of the area’s most innovative residential and commercial developments, including master planned communities, infill development and mixed-use projects. More recently their focus has been on revitalization and mixed used development in the urban centers of the region.

John Hodgson is active in both civic and volunteer organizations. He is a Full Member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and past Chair of the ULI Sacramento District Council. He was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson and served six years as the Chair of the Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA). In his capacity as CADA chair he is credited with contributing to the revitalization of midtown Sacramento.

John currently serves as a Board member of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership and serves on its Governance Committee. He also serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the Midtown Association. He served several terms as Chair of the Sacramento Council of the North State Building Industry Association and currently serves as Chair of its Urban Infill Group focused on Sacramento downtown and midtown mixed-use development. John is a member of the State Bar of California. He is a graduate of UC Davis and King Hall (UC Davis School of Law).

In his role as Chief Investment Officer, Randy oversees Fulcrum Property’s principal revenue generating activities including new development opportunities, leasing, sales, marketing, and communications. Randy’s primary focus is to further the development of The Bridge District that fronts the River in West Sacramento.

Randy brings over 30 years of experience in all aspects of real estate including development, asset management, acquisition, operations, and finance. In his most recent role as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, Randy led the effort for ownership on all the Kings’ real estate holdings with primary focus on the development of the new mixed-use Downtown Commons (DOCO) adjacent to Golden 1 Center.

Prior to joining the Kings, Randy spearheaded the acquisition Pronghorn Club and Resort, a 640-acre luxury golf resort community in Bend, Oregon and served as President of the Company.

From 2000-2011, Randy worked as an Executive Director for the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds where he was actively involved in the oversight of the fund’s investments in the Western United States, Hawaii, and Mexico. With over $3 billion dollars of real estate assets under his supervision, his primary focus was in master planned communities, resorts, land/commercial development, and oversight of large operating companies.

Prior to working for Morgan Stanley, Mr. Koss spent eleven years in the retail business with The Macerich Company working in various capacities in development, asset management, property management, and finance.

Randy is a graduate of UCLA in Economics/Business and earned his MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

Dan Falcon manages all development projects in the Los Angeles office including mixed-use, Transit-Oriented Developments and residential communities. Mr. Falcon directs project management, performs feasibility analysis, and structures multiple financing sources including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, CDBG, HOME, Tax Increment and Tax-Exempt Bond financing.

Abbie Wertheim is a Senior Development Manager at Panattoni Development Company with a focus on industrial development across Northern California. Most recently, she was an industrial real estate broker at JLL in Sacramento. Her current work draws on a career in land use economics, public policy and economic development. She hails from Texas, so you may hear the twang come out, but with 18 years in Northern California she is definitely home.

Geeti grew up in a small, hard-working, steel township in India called Durgapur. As one of four siblings, Geeti attributes her principles of ‘zero waste’ to her humble family upbringing. Her parents have been her greatest inspiration in life. Studying architecture at Jadavpur University in Kolkata and spending her early design years in Delhi, Geeti discovered her intense desire to use the power of good design to positively impact greater number of lives and enable richer daily experiences for the common man. This discovery propelled her to pursue a master’s degree in Urban Design at UC Berkeley.

She believes that urban designers and planners need to be strong advocates of healthy cities. Working to develop a vision for a community’s future, Geeti deems it her fundamental responsibility to put in place a framework for a regenerative, urban environment that promotes the health of the ecosystem, the people, and the economy.

Geeti loves travelling, exploring new cities and getting to know different cultures. She and her husband often embark upon spontaneous trips across the world.

Pete Caputo is Vice President of Operations at Truebeck Construction, a full-service commercial general contractor focused on technical building, complex projects and interiors in the Western US. With over 25 years of experience in construction, Pete has served on both the builder and owner sides in the healthcare and commercial office markets. Pete led a statewide development group of projects, which included over $4 billion in total project portfolio. His clients include national healthcare providers such as Kaiser, Sutter Health, and UCSF. Some of the notable healthcare facilities include Sutter Health’s Van Ness and Geary Campus and the CPMC Mission Bernal Campus, and the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital at Mission Bay.

Vice Mayor Angelique Ashby is the District One Sacramento City Councilmember. She was the youngest member of

the council when she was elected to office in 2010 and was subsequently re-elected in 2014 and 2018. From July 2014

through December 2020, she served as the sole female on the Sacramento City Council.

Vice Mayor Ashby is a graduate of Sacramento High School. She obtained her B.A in Sociology with an emphasis on

Law and Society from the University of California, Davis and her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific’s

McGeorge School of Law. She is a business owner in Sacramento and lives with her husband and children in Natomas.

Barry Broome serves as the first President and CEO of the Greater Sacramento Economic Council. The organization is the catalyst for innovative growth strategies in the Capital Region of California. Barry is responsible for leading community-driven efforts to retain, attract, grow, and scale new businesses; develop advanced industries; and guide new job-creation strategies throughout a six-county region. In his role, he has established the first-ever public/private partnership economic development organization in the State of California; the organization comprises 37 CEO’s and 19 communities in the Greater Sacramento region.

Previously, Barry was the President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) where he delivered more than 50,000 jobs and 250 company locates into the Phoenix Region. Under his leadership, for six out of the ten years, GPEC was named one of the top economic organizations in North America by Site Selection Magazine. In 2013 he was also named Arizona Economic Developer of the Year, Arizona Real Estate Executive of the Year, and received the Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce award.

Prior to Arizona, Barry was the CEO of Southwest Michigan First (SMF), where he built an organization from scratch that was later listed in the Top 20 companies in North America by Site Selection Magazine. In 2006, SMF was named one of the fast 50 companies in Inc. Magazine, the first nonprofit to have that honor. Barry built and co-developed venture funds, angel networks, and 31 new ventures – primarily in the life science space in the Kalamazoo region. Barry was named Michigan Economic Developer of the Year in 2001.

Preceding Michigan, Barry led the economic development in Toledo, Ohio, where he completed the largest industrial deal in the history of the United States called Project Jeep; which was built on 450 acres of brownfields in the North Central Toledo area.

Barry was also the keynote speaker at Arizona State University’s 2009 graduation and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Chicago, Notre Dame, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Kalamazoo College, and Western Michigan University.

Robert S. Nelsen became Sacramento State’s eighth president on July 1, 2015. As the first in his family to attend college, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science before earning his doctorate at the University of Chicago’s John U. Nef Committee on Social Thought. Dr. Nelsen served in various faculty and administrative roles before being named president of the University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Nelsen enjoys reading and watching Westerns if he ever finds a moment of leisure. His zeal for theatre and dance makes him a loyal supporter for his students. At Sacramento State, President Nelsen is committed to ensuring that Sacramento State’s students are able to graduate on time with less debt. He is a sports enthusiast who loves to support University’s athlete students. He wants students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers and have an inclusive, safe, and healthy experience on campus.

Tom Heacox serves as an executive managing director in the Technology and Innovation Practice Group in the Sacramento and Roseville office of Newmark. An office specialist in the Sacramento metropolitan area for 35 years, Mr. Heacox brings a high level of energy and experience to every assignment. Mr. Heacox joined Newmark in 1989 and has since completed over 1,115 lease and sale transactions totaling over 14 million square feet with a value in excess of $2.6 billion. From 2000 through 2018, he completed over 700 lease/sale transactions totaling over 11.5 million square feet of office space, which represents over $2.2 billion in transactions. Recent transactions included the sale of Downtown Plaza, a 700,000-square-foot office and retail mall in the Central Business District, a 300,000-square-foot build-to-suit for the California State offices of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the sale of 400,000 square feet of office buildings occupied by the California Department of Transportation.

Mr. Heacox recently received the Russ Thompson Award, the highest honor bestowed by Newmark, in recognition of his leadership and consistent success in pursuit of the firm’s best practices. From 2000 through 2016, he was nominated annually for the Association of Commercial Real Estate’s (ACRE’s) Broker of the Year award, and he was named Office Broker of the Year in 2013.

Additionally, Mr. Heacox was a guest panel speaker at both the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® 2013 and 2014 and ACRE’s 2014 mid-year market update. As a guest panel speaker for NAIOP, he presented the 1998 recap and 1999 projections for the office and high-tech sectors of the Sacramento regional marketplace.

With nearly 30 years of experience, James serves as our President and Chief Executive Officer and is a member of our board of directors. James joined Five Star Bank in 2003. He is deeply connected to the Sacramento community and has chaired several community-based organizations including the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce, Valley Vision and KVIE (the local PBS affiliate). James is the immediate past Chair of Western Bankers and is a Private Sector Director with Greater Sacramento Economic Council. He is also a board member of Crocker Art Museum and a member of the Sacramento State University College of Business Advisory Council. James previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at National Bank of the Redwoods in Santa Rosa, California. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He is also a graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington where he was class president. Recently, James was recognized by the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce as the Businessman of the Year in 2020, and he was named among the Most Admired CEO's of 2020 by the Sacramento Business Journal. He was also recognized with a Vistage Leadership Award in 2021.

May became UC Davis’ seventh chancellor on Aug. 1, 2017 by appointment of the UC Board of Regents. He leads the most comprehensive campus in the University of California system, with four colleges and six professional schools that offer 104 undergraduate majors and 96 graduate and professional degrees. UC Davis enrolls about 37,000 students, brings in nearly $800 million annually in sponsored research and contributes at least $8 billion to the California economy each year.

An accomplished scholar and engineer, May came to UC Davis from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where he had been for nearly three decades, most recently as dean of the institute’s College of Engineering — the largest and most diverse school of its kind in the nation, with 450 faculty and 13,000 students.

Prior to being dean, May was the Steve W. Chaddick Chair of Georgia Tech’s School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and previous to that, he was the executive assistant to Georgia Tech President G. Wayne Clough.

May is known as a dynamic leader with a passion for helping others succeed. He believes success is best judged by “the extent you enhance the lives of others.” Throughout his career, he has championed diversity in both higher education and the workplace. He developed and led programs to attract, mentor and retain underrepresented women and ethnic minorities in STEM — the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

In 2015, President Obama honored him with the Presidential Award for Excellence in STEM Mentoring.

May has won numerous research awards for his work in computer-aided manufacturing of integrated circuits and other devices. He has authored more than 200 technical publications, contributed to 15 books and holds a patent in this topic.

In 2010, he was named “outstanding engineering alumnus” of UC Berkeley, where he earned his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering and computer science.

A native of St. Louis, May is married to LeShelle R. May, a software engineer, and they have two daughters, Simone and Jordan, who are in college.

Ken Hiatt serves as the City Manager for the City of Woodland. Ken is a Yolo County native and an alumni of UC Davis. Prior to being hired in 2013, he worked 20 years for the City of Davis where he served in various planning and economic development capacities. In addition to overseeing the City’s operations, he is actively involved in helping implement the city’s 2035 General Plan, developing a stronger business climate, stimulating downtown revitalization, and managing the city’s capital infrastructure and environmental stewardship projects.

Marc Dörfer is the Chief Operating Officer at PEM Motion USA and a Senior Partner at the California Mobility Center. Marc has a decade of experience in the mobility innovation space working with OEMs, Tier Suppliers, and Start-Ups. He focuses on creating strategies for both the business and technological challenges of innovation and creating and empowering both individuals and ecosystems to build a more sustainable future. Marc holds both a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Production Engineering and Business administration from Germany’s elite RWTH Aachen University. Marc has a strong passion for coaching and combines this with his tireless energy to create real agile and employee-focused organizations. Being awarded an honors certificate through the Future Leader Program underlines these ambitions.

Ron Thomas is an Executive Managing Director in the Sacramento/Central Valley Region Office. He represents both Landlords and Tenants in the acquisition and disposition of leased and owned real estate. Ron is a 26-year veteran who began his commercial real estate career in 1996 with Bishop Hawk and then on to Colliers International in 1996. In 2011, he joined Cushman & Wakefield along with the entire Capitol Region Office Specialists team. Since joining Cushman & Wakefield, he has participated in over 900 transactions totaling more than ±20 million square feet and over $2.5 billion dollars in total consideration. Ron has consistently been a top producer in the Sacramento Cushman & Wakefield office and has been ranked among the Top 10 Office producers in the Sacramento region over the past 20 years. In 2012 he was part of a team that completed the largest Tenant Representation assignment in Sacramento history.

Monique Brown is Co-founder and Managing Director at The Growth Factory, a startup accelerator with an accompanying venture fund creating a “Backyard Advantage” on a mission to unleash the potential of world class founders, scale truly great companies, and create a thriving entrepreneurial culture in the Greater Sacramento region. She is responsible for overseeing operations, deal flow sourcing and screening, program design and execution, partner and mentor engagement, and ecosystem collaborations.

Will is the General Manager for Clark Pacific’s Emerging Markets Division. In this role, he brings over 14

years’ experience in complex program management, supply chain development, cross-functional team

leadership, and global manufacturing. Over the past four years with Clark Pacific, Will has brought his

outside experiences to help deliver projects requiring integrated prefabricated solutions.

Prior to joining Clark Pacific, Will worked as an operations leader at Amazon Lab126, an investment

banking associate at Lazard, and as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army. During his five-year career with

the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, he led a platoon of 30 soldiers at an outpost on the border of Iraq and

Iran, conducting over 100 missions to increase the competence of the Iraqi Army and Department of

Border Enforcement. Later, at Amazon Lab126, he led multiple operations teams to help design,

develop, and manufacture consumer electronic devices.

Will earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the

University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from the

United States Military Academy at West Point. In 2020, Will was selected as a 40 under 40 honoree by

the Sacramento Business Journal.

Mark serves as the Sacramento leader of the firm’s real estate industry group. He has more than 30

years of experience with various aspects of tax consulting, compliance and general strategic planning.

Mark started his career with one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms and spent over 15 years working

with a variety of clients on many different transactions before joining CLA. Mark frequently writes,

speaks, and instructs on industry-specific topics. For several years, he hosted a weekly business talk

show, which gave him the opportunity to learn from many local and regional business leaders.

Alex Bhathal serves as Founder and Managing Partner of RevOZ Capital, a leader and early adopter in Opportunity Zone real estate investing and division of the Revitate investment platform. In 2019, Globe St. honored RevOZ as the inaugural “Opportunity Zone Investor of the Year”. He is co-owner and Executive Director of Sacramento Basketball Holdings, which owns the Sacramento Kings NBA Franchise, Golden 1 Center and Downtown Commons entertainment and sports district. He serves as Senior Operating Partner of Rx3 Growth Partners, a consumer growth fund and as a Board Director for Compass Diversified (NYSE: CODI), Mark IV Capital, and Aspyr Holdings. Alex is a member of YPO and earned his B.A. from the University of California Los Angeles, M.B.A from the University of Southern California and is completing the Presidents Program in Leadership at Harvard Business School.

Director of Project Development manages the Business Development, Preconstruction, Estimating, Design-Build, and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) services for the company. James has worked successfully with clients on strategy, business planning, and project development, helping teams bring concepts to reality. James was educated at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo in Construction Management, and has been active in Region Builders, Associated Builders & Contractors, the Design-Build Institute of America. James is a LEED Accredited Professional.
