Jeff Land serves as System Senior Vice President of National Real Estate Services at CommonSpirit Health. Mr. Land is responsible for providing leadership in all areas of real estate strategy and transactions, joint ventures, energy and infrastructure, master planning, advisory services, and capital construction for CommonSpirit Health’s diverse healthcare portfolio.

Over the past 35 years, Mr. Land has led real estate, facility operations, portfolio oversite, and advisory practices for major firms such as EY Kenneth Leventhal, Bechtel Investments, and Dignity Health throughout the United States, Mexico, and, most recently, China. Mr. Land has been responsible for the successful operation of real estate portfolios including Bramalea Pacific, Transamerica, First Winthrop Corporation and Southern Pacific Development Company.

Mr. Land has served as a Board of Governor for the Academy for Healthcare Infrastructure, President of the Building Owners and Managers Association/Oakland, and on the School of Business Advisory Council, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California. He is a Life Trustee, Board of Trustees for the Building Owner’s and Manager’s Institute.

Mr. Land holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo as well as various designations from multiple industry associations.

Erik is a Healthcare Practice Leader who believes in the power of design to transform health care through designs that improve outcomes while enhancing the experience of care and caregiving. A tireless problem solver, Erik believes in the power of collaboration across architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines to focus the breadth of a team’s experience to creatively solve his clients design and operational problems.

Hanson leads projects, and pursuit strategies for major healthcare opportunities while also providing growth strategies for Perkins&Will’s healthcare practice across California.

With more than 30 years of experience working across a wide variety of project types including Master Planning, inpatient and ambulatory healthcare design, Erik has a broad and diverse project portfolio that includes work for many of the country’s leading healthcare design firms, including NBBJ, Stantec, Tsoi/Kobus and Associates. Erik has served as Design Director, Managing Principal, Regional Business Development Leader, and Practice Leader.

Erik was a founding principal of oceanUS, a progressive, multi-disciplinary research and computational design firm providing architectural, interior and product design services. He was also a collaborator with oceanD, a research-based design network based in Boston, New York and London, publishing and exhibiting work both nationally and internationally.

He regularly speaks at national conferences related to design and delivery trends in healthcare, and the integration of computational design into exciting design workflows.

In his spare time, Hanson is an avid sea-kayaker, having previously served as a kayak instructor in Boston and Maine. He is a guitarist who continues to explore his interest in the communalities of composing music with designing architecture.

Theresa Curtis joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2006. She is a senior associate in the rm’s Structural Engineering practice and brings extensive experience in structural analysis and design for new buildings as well as renovations and retro ts to existing structures. Her portfolio includes healthcare and education projects for private sector and local and state government clients. Her healthcare expertise spans over 10 years and ranges from large, complex, new design - including a new base isolated building at Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA - to retro ts and renovations that are necessary to keep healthcare facilities high performing technically and aesthetically.

Theresa is well versed in various project delivery methods. Her experience ranges from design-bid- build to design-build to those that incorporate Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) such as the NorthBay Medical Center, Hospital Expansion in Fair eld, CA. She is a strong proponent of collaboration and excels at melding the design and construction aspects of the project.

Theresa is a licensed civil and structural engineer in California, LEED Accredited Professional and Registered California Emergency Management Agency Safety Assessment Program Evaluator. She holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Rice University. Theresa is an active member of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC).

Arturo brings an unmatched design vision and a collaborative team-based working spirit. He has over thirty-three years of experience merging design practice, master planning, and urban design solving complex sites and programs in Healthcare, Academic and Commercial mixed-use. Arturo has worked with private and public-sector entities, developers, institutions, community-based organizations, and city regulatory agencies leading teams on projects that involve a rigorous design process and with a variety of alternative delivery approaches including P3, Design Assist, Design-Build and IPD.

Mike Marston is a Bay Area Business Unit Leader for DPR Construction, one of the nation’s top technical builders specializing in complex and sustainable projects for the life sciences, advanced technology, higher education, healthcare and commercial markets. Starting his career in 1988 after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in Civil Engineering and EPP, Mike worked in the Philadelphia, PA metropolitan area as a Construction Engineer on a variety of projects before focusing in on the Life Science construction market working for companies such as Merck and Wyeth (now Pfizer), among others. After joining DPR Construction and moving to the Bay Area in 1998, Mike continued to build his career working in the Life Sciences industry. He is focused on building teams that his clients find dependable in their goals and practices, and transcending the traditional relationships between Owners and Contractors. One of the recent highlights of his career was helping Genentech/Roche achieve the Overall Facility of the Year Award and Category Winner for Process Innovation in 2016 for a project in Vacaville, CA. Mike lives, and is raising his family, in the East Bay and is thankful every day for what the innovation and marketplace in the Bay Area offers not just locally, but to the industry as a whole.

David Lynn, Ph.D., CRE, is an award-winning institutional real estate investor, portfolio manager, and investment strategist with expertise in national and global commercial real estate. He is a member of The Counselors of Real Estate.

Dr. Lynn is the founder and CEO of Unity Medical Properties (UMP). UMP is a focused private equity real estate firm investing and managing medical buildings around the country. Previously David was founder and CEO of Everest Healthcare Properties, LLC. He built a portfolio of institutional medical buildings across 11 states and eventually sold the firm to a leading Fortune 500 multinational firm achieving top quartile returns and wining “Best Equity Deal of 2019” awarded by Real Estate Finance and Investment.

Prior to establishing Everest Healthcare Properties, LLC, he was the CIO, Executive Vice President, and Head of Portfolio Management for Cole REIT and Cole Investments. As key leader of the Executive Team, he managed the investment functions for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of private and public real estate funds.

At ING Clarion, Dr. Lynn was the Managing Director and Partner and Head of Global Investment Strategy for its $100 billion dollar AUM platform. Prior to ING Clarion, he was the Managing Director, Global Head of Strategy and Research, with AIG Global Real Estate, Senior Director with AvalonBay, and Vice President for Regional Real Estate Investments for the Keppel Corporation in Singapore.

Dr. Lynn was Professor of Professional Practice at the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and has published six real estate investment books.

He received his Ph.D. and Master of Science in Financial Economics, with Distinction, from the London School of Economics. Dr. Lynn also earned a Master of Business Administration, and Sloan Fellowship, from

the Sloan School of Management at MIT as well as a Master of Art in Urban Planning and Real Estate as a Cornell Professional Scholar at Cornell University.

John Pollock

JJohn Pollock is Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director at Meridian. Mr. Pollock is responsible for

the capital markets, financing, and operational functions of Meridian. He works with his executive

leadership team on the company’s strategy and operations. Before his most recent role, Mr. Pollock

served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

With more than 30 years of knowledge shaped by a wide range of experiences in commercial and

residential real estate development, Mr. Pollock has proven his ability to lead, manage and develop

highly effective cross functional teams. Prior to joining Meridian in 2006, Mr. Pollock served as General

Manager for national home builder Centex Homes where he was responsible for all land development,

construction and sales in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Pollock served as Vice

President of Bovis Lend Lease, a leading international project management and construction company

operating in more than thirty countries. At Bovis, Mr. Pollock’s responsibilities included managing

finance, project controls and risk management and he was involved in a wide range of transactions in

size, scope, and geography.

Notable developments Mr. Pollock has been involved in include, Santana Row in San Jose, CA, Four

Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, CA, Lincoln Square in Bellevue, WA and the Privatization of Fort Hood

Family Housing in Killeen, TX.

John is a member of Urban Land Institute (ULI) and sits on the ULI Health Care and Life Science Council.

He also serves on the HREI Editorial Advisory Board and is a Certified Public Accountant. John Received a

Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from St. Mary’s College.

Mr. Leonard, who holds and AB from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, has been actively involved in commercial real estate since 1987, and has owned Bayside Realty Partners since 2002. Formerly head of Trammell Crow Company’s Northern California division, he has been responsible for overseeing a 5 million sf portfolio, a team of 55 professionals and has acquired and developed over $100 million in office/R&D properties.

Having completed transactions totaling over $925 million in leases, acquisitions, dispositions, development and financings, Mr. Leonard provides an extensive level of transactional and management experience, particularly with healthcare properties.
