I am the Director of Planning and Design with John Muir Health Facilities Development. I have been with JMH since 2017 overseeing multiple master plans and projects for the organization. I have been working in Healthcare design and project delivery +20 years.

Anna Levitt is a licensed mechanical engineer in California with more than 17 years of experience in energy engineering and program management, 15 of those spent at the University of California. She currently manages the Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure team at UC San Francisco Health, and was previously Energy Manager at UC San Diego Medical Center and campus. At UCSF Health, she oversees the facilities’ decarbonization, energy and water efficiency, HVAC controls, and infrastructure renewal programs. In her work at UC San Diego, she managed the campus’s $95 million energy efficiency program, which included major research laboratory building HVAC retrofits, cogeneration plant heat recovery, lighting retrofits, and retrocommissioning. During her tenure, UCSD’s energy efficiency program received more than $11 million in incentives from San Diego Gas & Electric. Anna holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Smith College and a Masters of Engineering from San Diego State University. When she's not managing energy, she's playing old-time American fiddle or spending quality time with her wife and two young kids.

Sara joined Turner Construction Company in 2007 and has taken on a range of roles within project management and business development. In her current role as Healthcare Project Executive for Turner’s Northern California region, Sara provides leadership in the planning and execution of preconstruction and construction services, ensuring operational excellence that meets the project’s conditions of success. With an extensive and varied portfolio of Healthcare and HCAI work, she consistently demonstrates her expertise in handling complex, fast-paced builds that demand precision and innovation. Sara received her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Chico State University.

Makayla began her career in the trades as a project assistant and has gained over a decade of experience. At Mark III, Makayla has held the titles of project engineer and project manager and most currently holds the title of Director of Pre-construction. Makayla is skilled in growing contractor relationships, managing virtual construction and prefabrication efforts, and delivering projects on time and within budget. Over the past seven years at Mark III, Makayla has managed over $50 million in M3 MEP and M3 Components projects.

Since 2017, her focus has been building a productized approach to healthcare construction. She has completed multiple rounds of research and development, known as Project Mountain, and has successfully completed multiple projects utilizing M3C products.

Outside work, she enjoys golfing, cooking, visiting Tahoe, attending concerts, and spending time with her partner and dogs.

Kurt’s professional engineering career spans over 40 years. His expertise includes structural engineering design for Mission Critical Facilities such as Data Centers, Health Care Facilities such as Hospitals and Clinics and Life Sciences Facilities such as Biopharmaceutical Pilot Plants and Production Facilities around the United States and the World. His area of expertise is in designing buildings to be occupable after natural disasters including Tornados, Hurricanes and Earthquakes. He has been the structural engineer of record for conventional “fixed Base Buildings” ranging from 1-23 stories, “Base Isolated Buildings” ranging from 1-5 stories, and the retrofit and new construction of buildings incorporating Fluid Viscous Dampers ranging from 1-22 stories. He has published numerous papers on passive energy dissipation and presented the findings at various conventions in Boston, San Francisco and Milan.

For over 23 years as the Founding Principal at PARADIGM Structural Engineers, Kurt spends most of his time developing new leaders at PARADIGM and mentoring staff in Chicago and San Francisco.

Priya Cherukuru is a recognized healthcare planner and executive leader at Stanford Medicine. As a certified land use planner (AICP) with more than 20+ years of experience in strategy and capital improvement planning, she is known for bringing creative, innovative, and consensus-based solutions for space needs in highly constrained and regulated hospital and clinical environments.She currently leads the space planning strategy and development of plans and initiatives with a construction budget of over $8 billion with programs planned for the next 20 years and covering a portfolio of over 5M square feet, 3 Hospitals over 170+ clinic sites, and 50 admin sites for its 20,000 employees, faculty, fellows, and residents.Despite having been with Stanford for only 3 years now, she has grown to become a valued and trusted leader across the enterprise and works closely with partners and peers in the School of Medicine, Stanford Medicine Children’s Hospital, Stanford University and Stanford Medicine-Tri-Valley through a collaborative and governance based model of influence and pro-active planning.

Priya has a bachelor’s in architecture, Masters in Urban and Regional Planning and is a certified planner with the American Planners Association (APA). Priya is also the current Chair of the City of Santa Clara, Planning Commission and has served on the Commission for the past 5 years.

A California Licensed Architect with twenty-seven years of experience in architectural design,

construction, project management in the UC system. Jill was a Senior Project Manager for the UC

Davis Campus Design and Construction Management department for 20+ years before moving to

UC Davis Health in 2019. She has experience with multiple contract delivery methods, and a wide

range of project types including high tech, academic, housing and healthcare. Her current role

includes delivering multiple strategic expansion projects for the UC Davis Health System including

the California Tower, a 1M square foot replacement bed tower project delivered under a Progressive

Design Build contract, an outpatient surgery Center and Clinic, an expansion to the Central Utility

Plant, renovation and new construction of hospital Operating Rooms, and off-site Medical Office

Buildings serving outpatient needs in the surrounding community. She is leading an integrated team

of designers and builders using collaborative contract delivery that will add more than 1M gross

square feet to the health campus over the next decade.

Ben has a unique ability to become a trusted member of stakeholder teams involved in PMB’s clients’ real estate developments. This includes being part of hospital, physician group, and government agency groups striving to attain similar results from potentially divergent positions.

As SVP, Development, Ben is involved in all facets of project development ranging from pursuing new leads and analyzing healthcare real estate trends to project feasibility and land use approvals. Additionally, Ben focuses on working with PMB’s architects and general contractors in pre-construction and construction scheduling as well as leasing and permitting.

Ben received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (International Relations) from The Colorado College and obtained his Certificate in Real Estate Finance, Investments and Development from the University of San Diego in 2013.

Kevin has been a cornerstone of the Northern California construction industry since 1994 and a dedicated member of Swinerton since 1997. Known for his mantra “real people do renovation, the rest build new,” and a wealth of experience in project management and operations, Kevin specializes in complex healthcare renovation, infrastructure, and expansion projects. Having worked on healthcare campuses throughout the region for more than two decades, he brings meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and complexities associated with successfully executing these types of projects. As Operations Manager, he provides strategic oversight to project teams throughout a project’s life cycle and is passionate about advancing best practices. Kevin holds a Master of Engineering degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. As a founding member of Swinerton's Green Team, Kevin is a LEED Accredited Professional, reflecting his commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible construction practices.

Cynthia NeSmith-Montanez, a Senior Director in MGAC’s San Francisco office, has over 37 years of experience working on a wide variety of projects, from small tenant improvements to multi-building projects. She has worked on teams big and small for medical office buildings, hospitals, biotech facilities, corporate campuses, hotel renovations, and financial institutions. Cynthia brings deep knowledge of the industry, combining practical knowledge and theoretical understanding developed from her time in both owner’s representation and as a general contractor.

Belinda has over 26 years experience as an architect, 22 of which have been focused on healthcare specific projects. Her ability to effectively organize teams is marked by her attention to detail and strong communication skills. She is continually conscious of the planning and design intelligence involved, and the value HOK brings to its clients and projects.

Ashley Weinstein-Carnes counsels a wide variety of developers and investors on the land use and environmental laws affecting development projects in the Bay Area, including senior living projects and licensed Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly. She guides clients through complex entitlement, permitting, and regulatory processes from project conception through final approval, offering practical advice tailored to each stage of development. Ashley is known for her solutions-oriented approach and her ability to translate complex issues into clear, actionable next steps, and keep projects moving forward.

Dynamic thought leader and highly accomplished senior director with 25 years of proven experience in leading complex capital improvement focused in academic medical center environments, including: OSHPD 1, OSHPD 3, and non-OSHPD projects. Leverage expertise in Project Management, Program Execution, Design & Construction Strategy, Planning & Scheduling, Stakeholder Engagement, Team Coordination, Vendor Relations, Technical Analysis, Risk Management, Quality Assurance, Strategic Reporting, and Regulatory Compliance to enhance qualitative project delivery while supporting strategic initiatives to achieve critical clients goals and organizational mission.

John Koss is a Senior Vice President, Asset Management & Partner with Anchor Health Properties. Based

in the San Diego California office, he brings more than 35 years of broad commercial real estate

experience in areas such as asset and property management, contract and lease negotiation, as well as

financial and statistical modeling.

John is responsible for leading the firm’s asset management and operations for the Western Region US

investments, as well as supporting underwriting and due diligence efforts on new firm medical office

investments. In collaboration with the Development and Property Management teams, he works to

identify opportunities and create value in Anchor’s medical office properties while providing leasing

direction, risk mitigation, and budget accountability.

Prior to joining Anchor, John spent seven years as an Asset Manager for Lillibridge Healthcare

Services/Ventas, Inc. serving the Western Region of the country. He has also served as the Vice

President of Asset Management at Grubb & Ellis Realty Investors, and the President and Principal at

Teak Properties.

He holds a California real estate broker license and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®) for which he

serves on the National Audit and Investments Committee, as well as a Certified Commercial Investment

Manager (CCIM), for which he serves as a member of the National Audit Committee.

John received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern

California.

Keith, is a Principal at SLAM and serves as the Management lead for the Los Angeles Studio as well as the National Director of Innovation for the firm. Keith combines his unique experiences including construction, technical architect, leadership with his passion for design and innovation forming a very broad and unique perspective. Keith engages challenge with a strong team-building focus that leverages the very best from those around him. Through these networked relationships and exposures, Keith has a unique skill in understanding the interconnected nature of seemingly disparate technologies and strategies and cultivating the development of new and innovative solutions. He holds an Masters of Architecture from Tulane University and is a member of the California Council of the American Institute of Architects.

Marco has 24 years of experience in mechanical systems design and project management. A LEED Accredited Professional, Marco has been involved in the design of numerous all-electric, highly efficient, and LEED-certified projects. Marco is passionate about healthcare design, advocating for integrating sustainability with patient-centered environments to support improved care outcomes. Notably, his recent work includes the 265,000-square-foot Redwood City Pavilion E Medical Office Building for Stanford Health Care.

Master’s graduate in Civil Engineering with over 13 years of experience in pre-construction for commercial tenant improvement projects, specializing in the life sciences industry. Extensive expertise in cost estimating, value engineering, subcontractor bidding, contract negotiation, bid leveling, and cost analysis. Proven ability to lead and manage preconstruction departments and teams of estimators, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and bids are submitted without scope gaps. Skilled in overseeing and driving the success of preconstruction phases to deliver well-coordinated, cost-effective project outcomes.
