With more than 30 years of industry experience, including 13 years with Layton, Tom has built a career spanning operations, preconstruction, and business development, giving him a well-rounded perspective on every phase of the construction process.

Today, Tom leads client development and preconstruction efforts for Layton’s California healthcare division, where he works closely with healthcare providers, design teams, trade partners, and regulatory agencies to plan and deliver complex healthcare projects. His operational background allows him to identify risks, evaluate constructability, and develop practical solutions early in the process, helping clients make informed decisions before construction begins.

JJohn Pollock is Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director at Meridian. Mr. Pollock is responsible for

the capital markets, financing, and operational functions of Meridian. He works with his executive

leadership team on the company’s strategy and operations. Before his most recent role, Mr. Pollock

served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

With more than 30 years of knowledge shaped by a wide range of experiences in commercial and

residential real estate development, Mr. Pollock has proven his ability to lead, manage and develop

highly effective cross functional teams. Prior to joining Meridian in 2006, Mr. Pollock served as General

Manager for national home builder Centex Homes where he was responsible for all land development,

construction and sales in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Pollock served as Vice

President of Bovis Lend Lease, a leading international project management and construction company

operating in more than thirty countries. At Bovis, Mr. Pollock’s responsibilities included managing

finance, project controls and risk management and he was involved in a wide range of transactions in

size, scope, and geography.

Notable developments Mr. Pollock has been involved in include, Santana Row in San Jose, CA, Four

Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, CA, Lincoln Square in Bellevue, WA and the Privatization of Fort Hood

Family Housing in Killeen, TX.

He also serves on the HREI Editorial Advisory Board and is a Certified Public Accountant. John Received a

range of project types including high tech, academic, housing and healthcare. Her current role

includes delivering multiple strategic expansion projects for the UC Davis Health System including

the California Tower, a 1M square foot replacement bed tower project delivered under a Progressive

Design Build contract, an outpatient surgery Center and Clinic, an expansion to the Central Utility

Maggie Mahoney brings 10 years of structural engineering experience supporting hospitals, medical office buildings, acute care facilities, renovations, and other complex healthcare environments. Her experience includes work on HCAI-regulated projects in California, where she applies her knowledge of seismic design requirements, detailed coordination, and healthcare-specific standards to help teams navigate demanding approval and delivery processes.

Known for her attention to detail and collaborative approach, Maggie develops practical structural solutions that respond to the operational, technical, and scheduling demands of healthcare design. She also has experience with lean design and construction practices, working closely with architects, contractors, and consultants to improve coordination, reduce rework, and support efficient project delivery.

Maggie served as the Design Engineer for the Intermountain Health Lutheran Replacement Hospital, a landmark project recognized by the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations for its innovative use of materials and awarded the organization’s top honor in 2025. She is also an active member of AMFP NorCal and Women in Healthcare, strengthening her connections across the healthcare design and construction community.
