David Lynn, Ph.D., CRE, is an award-winning institutional real estate investor, portfolio manager, and investment strategist with expertise in national and global commercial real estate. He is a member of The Counselors of Real Estate.

Dr. Lynn is the founder and CEO of Unity Medical Properties (UMP). UMP is a focused private equity real estate firm investing and managing medical buildings around the country. Previously David was founder and CEO of Everest Healthcare Properties, LLC. He built a portfolio of institutional medical buildings across 11 states and eventually sold the firm to a leading Fortune 500 multinational firm achieving top quartile returns and wining “Best Equity Deal of 2019” awarded by Real Estate Finance and Investment.

Prior to establishing Everest Healthcare Properties, LLC, he was the CIO, Executive Vice President, and Head of Portfolio Management for Cole REIT and Cole Investments. As key leader of the Executive Team, he managed the investment functions for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of private and public real estate funds.

At ING Clarion, Dr. Lynn was the Managing Director and Partner and Head of Global Investment Strategy for its $100 billion dollar AUM platform. Prior to ING Clarion, he was the Managing Director, Global Head of Strategy and Research, with AIG Global Real Estate, Senior Director with AvalonBay, and Vice President for Regional Real Estate Investments for the Keppel Corporation in Singapore.

Dr. Lynn was Professor of Professional Practice at the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and has published six real estate investment books.

He received his Ph.D. and Master of Science in Financial Economics, with Distinction, from the London School of Economics. Dr. Lynn also earned a Master of Business Administration, and Sloan Fellowship, from

the Sloan School of Management at MIT as well as a Master of Art in Urban Planning and Real Estate as a Cornell Professional Scholar at Cornell University.

JJohn Pollock is Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director at Meridian. Mr. Pollock is responsible for

the capital markets, financing, and operational functions of Meridian. He works with his executive

leadership team on the company’s strategy and operations. Before his most recent role, Mr. Pollock

served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.

With more than 30 years of knowledge shaped by a wide range of experiences in commercial and

residential real estate development, Mr. Pollock has proven his ability to lead, manage and develop

highly effective cross functional teams. Prior to joining Meridian in 2006, Mr. Pollock served as General

Manager for national home builder Centex Homes where he was responsible for all land development,

construction and sales in Santa Fe, New Mexico. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Pollock served as Vice

President of Bovis Lend Lease, a leading international project management and construction company

operating in more than thirty countries. At Bovis, Mr. Pollock’s responsibilities included managing

finance, project controls and risk management and he was involved in a wide range of transactions in

size, scope, and geography.

Ed’s career spans 40 plus years in the real estate industry in the San Francisco Bay area. After starting his career at Grubb & Ellis in 1977, Ed ran his own development company from 1983 - 1992. Ed’s background includes brokerage, property development both residential and commercial, property management, property entitlements and consulting services. Since getting back into full-time brokerage, Ed has been the East Bay manager at Colliers, Grubb & Ellis, and Transwestern.

Ed has represented the following cities of Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Clayton and Concord in their excess sites. In his career, Ed has leased or sold over seven million square feet of real estate. A few representative clients include UCSF, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, California Bank & Trust, Mechanics Bank, Wells Fargo and Community Bank of the Bay. Recently, Ed successfully co-marketed the Lyric and Midtown mixed use residential/ retail developments in Walnut Creek. Ed is also a frequent speaker on local and regional economic development topics.

Mr. Leonard, who holds and AB from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, has been actively involved in commercial real estate since 1987, and has owned Bayside Realty Partners since 2002. Formerly head of Trammell Crow Company’s Northern California division, he has been responsible for overseeing a 5 million sf portfolio, a team of 55 professionals and has acquired and developed over $100 million in office/R&D properties.

Having completed transactions totaling over $925 million in leases, acquisitions, dispositions, development and financings, Mr. Leonard provides an extensive level of transactional and management experience, particularly with healthcare properties.

Dave Ericksen has spent the past 30+ years in banking with the past 15+ years

dedicated specifically to the healthcare industry. Currently Senior Vice President

and Managing Director of Umpqua Bank Healthcare Banking’s Commercial

Healthcare Team, which specializes in helping hospitals and independent physician

groups grow, find revenue cycle efficiency, and advises on strategic objectives.

John Fard is the System Director for Real Estate Strategy at CommonSpirit Health. He leads a team focused on developing portfolio solutions that drive strategic initiatives and optimize the portfolio across the system’s acute, ambulatory, and administrative assets. John leverages a data-driven approach to develop market plans and portfolio optimization roadmaps that enable the Integrated Delivery Network across CommonSpirit markets. John has a PhD from the School of Building Construction at Georgia Institute of Technology, and a BS and MS degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Kayla is an Associate Director of Project Delivery for UCSF Health Design & Construction in San Francisco. She is a licensed California architect with 14 years of experience in healthcare design, construction, and project management roles. She is experienced in multiple project delivery methods across various project types, with an emphasis on imaging projects, ambulatory surgery centers, and clinic renovations. As Associate Director, she manages a team of project managers and consultants who deliver capital projects falling under various clinical programs, including Radiology, Oncology, Nursing, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, and UCSF Health’s newly acquired community hospitals.

Michael Monaldo is the Senior Vice President of Development and Real Estate at John Muir

Health, serving the East San Francisco Bay Area. In his current position, Michael’s

responsibilities include the planning, management and financial aspects of all new construction

and renovation projects with a 10-year capital program exceeding $2 Billion. Since joining John

Muir Health in 2007, Michael has overseen the construction of numerous major patient care

facilities: the Tom and Billie Long Patient Care Tower on the Walnut Creek campus which

includes 242 beds, three Operating Rooms and an expanded Emergency Department/Trauma

Center; the Jean and Ken Hofmann Patient Care Tower on the Concord campus which houses

the Cardiac Care Institute and includes 120 beds, five Cardiac Cath Labs and a new expanded

Emergency Department; and the new 164,000 square foot Behring Pavilion on the Walnut Creek

campus which houses the UCSF – John Muir Health Jean and Ken Hofmann Cancer Center. In

addition to these projects, his team has completed the construction of a 767-space parking

structure, an Ambulatory Surgery Center, and a 144,000 square foot Outpatient Center in

Walnut Creek, a 60,000 square foot reference laboratory in Concord and new Outpatient

Centers in Pleasant Hill, Rossmoor, and Brentwood. Michael oversees all real estate transactions

for the health system including asset management of 900,000 square feet of leased space.

Michael received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Maryland. He is a

licensed architect and has over 30 years of experience working on major health care projects.

Prior to joining John Muir Health, Michael was the Director of Project Development for Kaiser

Permanente, where he managed an annual capital plan in excess of $1.2 billion including

entitlements, master planning, design, and agency approvals throughout Northern California.

Michael also served as Project Director for the Kaiser Antioch Medical Center where he was

charged with the delivery of a new 600,000 square foot medical center on an undeveloped 50-

acre site. Prior to Kaiser, Michael was the Project Director for Saint John’s Heath Center in Santa

Monica, California, where he managed an eight-year phased replacement project that included

a 475,000 square foot hospital, central utility plant and 474-space subterranean parking

structure.

Michael and his wife, Valerie Nagel live in Walnut Creek, California and are the parents of three

adult sons.

Cynthia NeSmith-Montanez is a Director of Healthcare at SLS Consultants, bringing over 40 years of experience delivering complex projects across the Healthcare and Life Sciences sectors.
