Michael Mathews is the Founder and CEO of Assemblage Works, Inc. (AWI), a multi-disciplinary, vertically integrated architecture, construction management and development company that operates throughout the nation. We specialize in the creation, management and execution of sustainable urban infill multi-family, hospitality and commercial projects across the western United States.

Mathews’ expertise as a senior development, design and construction executive spans all facets of complex and large-scale ($500MM+) real estate projects for a variety of prominent design, development and construction organizations nationwide, including executive roles with KB Urban, Forest City and Davis Reed Construction, among others.

In these roles, he has delivered over 6,000 units to the markets in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Southern California, Texas, Seattle and Denver metropolitan areas.

Mathews, a licensed Architect, is also an expert in off-site construction methodologies, including prefab, volumetric, panelized and mass timber construction. He has national experience in project due diligence, entitlement, design, finance, construction and construction management.

Through the formation of AWI, Mathews has created a collective of experienced and dedicated design, construction and development professionals that believe in the use of modern methods of construction and progressive delivery techniques to provide clear and predictable outcomes to their clients and investors.

AWI was created to understand the needs of development, investigate emerging technologies and collaborate with our construction partners, pushing the practice of architecture and development into the future. We eliminate unnecessary time designing systems that can be repeated, leaving more time to solve the unique design challenges of our clients, the environment and the places we design for.

Geene Alhady began his career with McCarthy Building Companies holding various roles including managing large construction projects in the healthcare and high-tech industries. In the years that followed, Geene served as president of Meridian Systems, a plan-build-operate technology solutions company, and then as general manager of Trimble Buildings’ Real Estate and Workplace Solutions Division.

Geene joined Clark Pacific in 2016 bringing his organizational and marketing expertise and now serves as Clark Pacific’s president.

Ken Lowney is the Founder and President of Lowney Architecture, a multidisciplinary practice offering architectural, interior, and master planning services. With locations in Oakland and Honolulu, the firm focuses its practice on residential, mixed-use, hospitality and retail projects. In his hometown of Oakland, Ken leads discussions about community development, affordable housing and off-site construction design methods while serving in leadership roles for the Modular Building Institute, SPUR, the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and the Oakland Land Use Committee. Lowney Architecture first made its mark with expertise in urban retail, specifically grocery store design. The firm is now also synonymous with the design and delivery of innovative, prefabricated projects, having designed over 6,000 modular units.

Matt Baran is the founder of Baran Studio Architecture. He has 25 years of experience as a licensed architect, developer, and builder. His work spans design disciplines and building typologies. He has experience in all project phases, including conceptualization, programming, design, project management, and construction in residential, commercial, community, and theoretical projects of various scales. In addition to his experience as an architect, his real estate development experience includes property evaluation and acquisition, financing, construction, lease-up, and sale. His construction experience includes general contracting and construction management for site-built and modular projects.

Matt has lectured and taught studios at UC Berkeley, USC, and The Academy of Art in Architecture and Real Estate programs. His work has been published by The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Magazine, and various other outlets. He has also received awards from the AIA, PCBC, and Architizer. He has been a speaker at events for the AIA, ULI, and SPUR.

Tyson Hart is a Project Manager for Stack Modular based in their Vancouver, Canada office.

After a decade of experience in site-built construction, Tyson joined the modular / off-site construction industry where he currently manages projects both in North America and international markets. His time in conventional construction included large scale civil and public infrastructure projects, multi-family residences, commercial and hospitality build outs, as well as leading new build and renovation projects of luxury custom homes.

At Stack Modular, Tyson is actively engaged in projects from early concepts and pre-cons through to occupancy. This includes contract negotiation and execution, project estimating, pricing, as well as scope and schedule management. He also works cross functionally with teams heading design, procurement, logistics, and manufacturing to see the project through its entire life cycle. Tyson’s enthusiasm to be at the forefront of innovation within the construction industry, paired with his background in construction and tech have been central to his success in the modular sector.

Brad has over 30 years of construction experience and is leading Webcor’s Prefabrication Strategy. His experience encapsulates a vast array of project types and sizes delivered under all types of project delivery methods.

Wong, the Cloud Apartments CEO, is a former engineer for SpaceX and worked on the spacecraft company's launch pads. He hopes to bring the innovative approach at SpaceX to his new company. “We see ourselves as a product company and a technology company,” Wong stated on his LinkedIn page

Ross Stackhouse is a Principal at Tidewater Capital. His primary responsibilities include managing the firm's operations and directing Tidewater's market research and investment strategy. Mr. Stackhouse also directs many of its philanthropic and community engagement activities. Before joining Tidewater, Mr. Stackhouse worked for The JBG Companies in Washington, D.C., where he led a variety of residential, office, hotel, and retail investments including the management of new acquisitions and support of numerous development and asset management projects. Mr. Stackhouse also oversaw the firm's market research platform during his time at JBG. Mr. Stackhouse is an active member of the Bay Area Council, SPUR, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Urban Land Institute. He is also a Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) and serves as the Chair of the organization's Northern California Chapter. A native of lower Manhattan in New York City, Mr. Stackhouse holds a Bachelor of the Arts with Honors in Environmental Studies from Brown University. He is passionate about sustainable development, creative land use, and the evolution of vibrant urban environments.

Mike is a licensed architect, and has 23 years’ experience in affordable housing design and construction. Mike supervises the design and construction of all FCH developments (and coordinates all construction administration and review) with his involvement starting in the early discussions with architect and contractor. Mike’s focus is maintaining FCH’s quality standards in design and construction particularly in the areas of “green” building materials, sustainable systems and construction quality. Mike is a member of the AIA, the U.S. Green Building Council, and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Timothy Haley, Architect, is an innovative and client-focused Senior Associate at MBH Architects with over 20 years proven success providing quality designs for multi-family residential projects and mixed use developments. As Technical Director of MBH’s Housing Studio and a leader of the firm’s design technology practice group, he is a strong proponent of leveraging technology to bring about the most creative and expedient solutions to design and construction challenges. Timothy uses his extensive knowledge of design technology to advise on projects across the firm from workspace and laboratory to hospitality and modular housing. Creating projects to meet the clients’ needs by synthesizing program context, technology, and budget, Timothy is recognized for his top performance by repeat client selection and architectural awards of merit

Justin Stewart is the CEO and Owner of 8-time National Excellence in Construction Award winning Synergy, Inc, and industry disrupting Synergy Modular. Synergy has built over 10,000 units and countless commercial projects as a GC over the last three decades in the Pacific Northwest. In 2017, in response to a demand for predictability, Justin founded Synergy Modular, building projects at a fixed cost, in 30-50% less time.

Brad Lancaster, CPC, is a Senior Project Manager at Vertex's San Diego office, where he is primarily responsible for owner representation in all stages of the Construction life cycle within Southern California. Brad holds over 25 years of experience in the construction and real estate industry, and has managed a wide variety of development, logistical, and capital expenditure programs in retail, healthcare, food service, sports facility, education, aviation, and office sectors.

Lisa is a passionate advocate for sustainable structures, serving as rotating Chair of the Structural Engineers Association of California’s Sustainable Design Committee since 2009 and co-authoring several papers on sustainable design and construction, including one of the first studies on the life cycle impacts of structural systems. Highly engaged in California’s AB2446 embodied carbon workshops, she continues to lead efforts that advance low-carbon building strategies. Building on her expertise in timber innovation and sustainability, she supports clients and project teams through feasibility planning, design management, cost planning, and pre-construction, guiding early decisions to deliver pioneering, environmentally responsible projects.

Andrew Ball is the President of oWOW, an Oakland, CA firm specializing in Real Estate Development services, with vertically integrated Project Design, Construction and Property Management Divisions.

He was previously President and Partner at RAD Urban, a company specializing in high rise Modular housing projects with internal divisions providing Manufacturing, Design and Construction.

Prior leadership positions include President of Suffolk Construction West Region and President and CEO of Webcor Builders; both companies provided General Contracting services for Residential, Commercial, Hospitality and High Technology Projects.

Mr. Ball was a four time Governor appointed California Water Commissioner, a Board member of the Bay Area Council and co-Chair of it’s Water Committee, and served as a Board member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group heading up Water Policy. He has been involved in other industry organizations including the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, the San Francisco Center for Economic Development, SPUR, Stanford Center for Integrated Facility Engineering, and UC Berkeley’s Center for the Built Environment.

Zac Miles is an Associate Principal in KTGY’s Oakland office where he focuses on high density multi-family projects on infill sites around the Bay Area. Mr. Miles also serves on the Quality Control committee, which establishes companywide QA/QC procedures. His primary focus is bringing a project from the design development phase through the completion of construction.

Matt Larson serves as Director of Preconstruction at XL Construction and brings an in-depth understanding of modular and CLT solutions. He has been involved in mass timber projects ranging in size from 20,000 – 315,000 s.f. Recently, Matt led the development of TimberQuest™, a mass timber-based classroom solution that is cost and schedule efficient, prefabricated, DSA pre-checked, and provides a 21st-century learning environment within a high-quality, healthy, and sustainable facility.

Michael Van Every is the President and Managing Partner of Republic Urban Properties, the Bay Area flagship of the Republic Family of Companies. Mr. Van Every works with Federal, State, and Local governments on the creation and development of ‘smart growth’ projects, such as master-planned communities near transportation hubs; urban mixed-use projects near major employment centers; and innovative, public-private partnerships. The Republic Family of Companies is known for developing institutional-quality real estate throughout the United States, from land development, to historic adaptive reuse, to shopping malls.

In his 25 years of working experience representing major institutional and private real estate developers in the greater Bay Area, Van Every has earned the reputation as a man with the leadership, the knowledge, the experience, and tenacity to see complicated projects through from land acquisition to completion. Under Van Every’s leadership, RUP has gained national attention for its Transit Oriented Development (TOD) projects at key transit stations working as the premier public-private partner with many transit authorities across California.

Since 2006, as the managing partner of RUP, Van Every has been involved with the planning, financing, construction, and delivery of 1,238 multifamily units and 145,000 square feet of mixed-use commercial space. In addition to the multifamily pipeline, RUP has approximately 380 hotels rooms, 151,000 square feet of office, and 120,000 square feet of retail in various stages of development. The estimated market value among projects is projected at $1.5 billion in value.

A third-generation San Jose native, Van Every holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from California State University at Fresno. Van Every is an active member of San Jose Rotary Club as well as the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. He also serves as a Board Member on Santa Clara County Catholic Charities. Michael is married and lives with his wife Jennifer and Jacob in the Willow Glen Neighborhood of San Jose.

Andrea lead’s Eden’s Real Estate Development team and is responsible for Eden’s new business and pre-development pipeline, new construction, real estate acquisition and portfolio renovation efforts. Under her leadership, Eden currently has a pipeline totaling nearly 5,000 homes for lower-income households across California.

Since joining Eden’s development team in 2008, Andrea has overseen the development of over 2,500 new units and the acquisition of over 1,500 existing units in six California counties – from Sonoma to San Diego County. She is currently managing Eden’s expansion into new regions in California, with a growing department of 27 development professionals.

Andrea has significant experience in construction management, construction litigation and public contracting. She worked as a construction management consultant for Capital Projects of UC Berkeley where she was involved in large rehab and new construction projects – from planning and development through funding and construction. Additionally, she was the lead paralegal in the construction group at Hanson Bridgett Marcus Vlahos & Rudy, a San Francisco law firm.

Andrea serves as President of the Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County (board member since 2013) and is an inaugural board member and Treasurer of SV@Home, a housing advocacy organization in Santa Clara County.

Andrea Osgood earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) with Honors from Pomona College and a Master of Arts in Urban Planning from the UCLA Graduate School of Public Policy and Social Research.

Muhammad A. Nadhiri is the oldest of three children and was raised in Central Florida, in a household rich with educational, artistic, and social justice history. Muhammad’s father, retired from a lifelong career in education, is a poet. Muhammad’s mother, also a former educator, is the Executive Director of the Zora Neale Hurston Museum in Eatonville, Florida, the oldest incorporated African-American town in the United States. Muhammad’s family has numerous ties to the arts, politics, and the struggle for equality; these basic principles, which formed the foundation of Muhammad’s childhood, continue to drive his philosophy as a developer, businessman, and volunteer. Muhammad lives in San Francisco, with his wife, Rochelle, and daughter, Zahra.

Muhammad is the Co-Founding Managing Partner of Axis Development Group; he brings deep experience developing residential/retail/commercial mixed-use projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and select urban markets nationally. Axis is a privately-owned San Francisco and Los Angeles based real estate development firm that specializes in the creation and execution of highly-serviced, uniquely-stylized urban-infill and mixed-use projects. Axis’ Principals bring over 40 years of acquisition, structuring, entitlement, construction, marketing, and sale/lease-up experience to the projects the firm pursues. Axis’ core strategy is to take the experience of its Principals and leverage that knowledge into projects that respond to the complex urban environments in which the firm operates.

Prior to forming Axis with Theo F. Oliphant, Muhammad was a Co-Founding Partner at UrbanCore Development and the Founding Managing Partner at M.A.N. Associates, both of which are San Francisco Bay Area-based real estate development firms; Muhammad served as the Principal-in Charge for each firm's development activities. Previously, Muhammad was a Senior Project Manager at AF Evans Development in Oakland, where he was responsible for the development of two downtown-revitalization residential/retail mixed-use projects, totaling 433 for-sale units and 70,000 square feet of retail over five city blocks. Muhammad began his real estate career as an Associate at Wilson Meany in San Francisco, where he co-managed the development of rental and for-sale residential/retail mixed-use projects in San Francisco and the Bay Area; one of which was as a member of the project team for the redevelopment of the historic Ferry Building.

Prior to beginning his career in real estate development, Muhammad was an investment banker; he was an Analyst at Nationsbanc Securities and an Associate at RBC Dominion Securities, in New York City. Muhammad holds a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Corporate Finance from Morehouse College and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.

Muhammad is a Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, a Member of the Board of Directors for the 100 Black Men of America, and a Member of the Board of Trustees for Katherine Delmar Burke School. Muhammad is also a Member of Urban Land Institute, San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association, and San Francisco Housing Action Coalition.

With more than a decade of experience, Ioanna leads multidisciplinary teams within AO’s Multifamily and Mixed-Use studios, specializing in market-rate, affordable, senior, and modular developments. She is a charismatic problem-solver with a passion for elevating the design vision of her clients and nurturing the success of her team. Ioanna is an avid researcher and lifelong learner valued for her strong project management and people skills, as well as her ability to foster trust and collaboration amongst developers, cities, designers, architects, and consultants. Ioanna is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and sits on the ARC Alumni Advisory Board for Cal Poly Pomona, and the Design Professional Council for the Modular Building Institute (MBI).

Tony Mirenda is a successful Bay Area construction veteran who has been associated with many of

Silicon Valley’s most visible projects. For the last 43 years, he has been instrumental in bringing to life

projects that range from educational facilities and award-winning historical restorations to high-end

tenant improvements and mixed-use/transportation-oriented developments. Tony’s attention to detail,

commitment to his clients and strong ties to local labor unions are just a few of the many characteristics

that set him apart as an experienced, professional construction executive.

In his current role as Development Executive at Blach Construction, Tony assists clients with executing

bond campaigns, negotiating project labor agreements, developing implementation plans, assessing

district needs, coordinating city and county jurisdiction entitlements, and establishing project and

program phasing plans. Before joining Blach in 2012, Tony spent 25 years at TBI Construction &

Construction Management, Inc., serving as CEO during his final nine years and when the firm was

honored as 2009 Contractor of the Year by the San Jose Business Journal. Prior to that, he held various

project management and executive positions at Toeniskoetter & Breeding Inc., K.D.C., Ltd. and Carl N.

Swenson Co., Inc.

A native of Silicon Valley, Tony is actively involved with several professional and community

organizations. He serves as Co-Chair of the Santa Clara County Construction Careers Association

(S4CA), an organization he co-founded in 2005 to promote careers in construction to local youth and

sits on a Career Pathway Advisory Board for Eastside Union High School District. He is a member of the

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a past member of the Earthquake Engineering Research

Institute (EERI). In addition to his board chair position on the Executive Committee of the San Jose

Chamber of Commerce, he co-chairs its Housing & Land Use Policy Committee. Tony also sits on the

board at the JW House in Santa Clara and is a longtime member of the Endowment Fundraising

Committee at his alma mater, St. Francis High School in Mountain View. Furthermore, he is a Knight in the

Order of Malta, Western Association, San Jose Location, and serving as the Location’s Hospitaller and

also the Western U.S. Region Program Director for Growing The Faith within selected Diocesan schools.

Tony is often recognized for his philanthropic efforts. Most recently, he was the recipient of the 2019 St.

Andre of Montreal Service Award by his St. Francis High School and the 2018 Boys Scouts of America

Character Award.

Licensed in the State of California as a General Contractor, Tony holds a Retired Professional Engineer’s

License as well. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University.
