Ken Sauder is Wakeland’s founding executive director and began his tenure at the organization in 1999. Under his leadership and assisted by a strong staff and solid Board of Directors, the organization has developed more than 6,500 units in 40 developments throughout California.

Mr. Sauder has more than 35 years of community development and affordable housing experience at the national, international and local level. Throughout his career, he has developed a high level of expertise in working with a variety of jurisdictions, organizations and funding sources to create affordable housing. This, coupled with Mr. Sauder’s strong relationships with business leaders, elected officials and affordable housing decision-makers make him an invaluable asset to Wakeland.

He previously held positions as director of community development for South Bay Community Services; founding director of Latin American Program for Habitat for Humanity International; and the first director of Tijuana-San Diego Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. Sauder holds a Master’s degree in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves on the Board of the California Housing Consortium, the Downtown San Diego Partnership and is a member of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County.

Mr. LaFever joined Greystar in April 2014, as managing director of development in Orange and San Diego Counties. Prior to joining Greystar, Mr. LaFever was vice president of multifamily development for The Picerne Group, where he led Southern California Acquisition and Development efforts, and also previously worked in the same capacity for Trammell Crow Residential. Prior to joining The Picerne Group, Mr. LaFever was Co-Founder of the Southern California Division of Waypoint Homes, an institutional leader in the single family rental asset class, which is now publicly traded after its merger with Starwood (NYSE: SWAY). Mr. LaFever is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science Degrees in Finance & Marketing, and a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Masters in Real Estate Development.

Daniele Horton brings almost 20 years of experience in corporate sustainability and sustainable real estate. Daniele’s expertise, dedication and passion are central to her leadership of the company. Daniele is an architect, LEED Fellow and a Certified Energy Manager. She is currently leading sustainability efforts for seven real estate firms including multifamily portfolios totaling over 320 Million sf and 2600 buildings, most of them have ranked among the top five on GRESB. As the head of sustainability for Thomas Properties Group for almost a decade they ranked as the highest environmental performer on GRESB in the Americas in the Office category (2011, 2012 & 2013). With over 50 speaking engagements under her belt, and industry leadership with 14 organizations, Daniele was named one of the “Top 10 Most Powerful Women in Sustainability” in 2014 by the gb&d. Daniele is also an adjunct Professor at the University of San Diego where she teaches Sustainable Real Estate at their MSRE program. She recently started a non-profit organization called Verdani Institute for the Built Environment to advance global sustainability adoption in the built environment through research, education, collaboration, and resilience. She actively participates on several sustainability committees such as NAREIT’s Sustainable Real Estate Council, the GRESB Benchmark Committee, the USGBC National Advisory Council, the ULI Greenprint Performance Committee, the BOMA Sustainability Committee, the Living Building Institute California Congress and the California Sustainability Alliance Green Buildings Committee. She served on local non-profit boards for almost a decade and was the Founder and former Co-Chair for the USGBC-LA Existing Buildings Committee.

Since founding MG Properties Group in 1992, Mark has overseen the acquisition, development and management of 90 properties totaling over 16,000 units. As President, he has guided the growth of MG Properties Group, raising money for new investment partnerships and overseeing the renovation, lease-up and property management of the company's portfolio of value-add communities. Prior to forming MG Properties, Mark was a tax specialist for five years with international accounting firms Ernst & Whinney and Touche Ross and worked for six years in senior financial management positions with Hybritech Incorporated and Solar Turbines Corporation. In 2006, Mark was selected as a finalist in the Ernst& Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. He serves on the Executive Board of the USD Burnham Moores Real Estate School, is a member of the National Multi Housing Counsel Board of Directors and SD Economic Development Corporation Strategic Round Table, and has served on many charitable boards. He has been a speaker at numerous industry events. He graduated with a degree in Business from Drexel University in 1979 and became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in 1981 and a California licensed Real Estate Broker in 1990.

Mr. Grossman is a Senior Managing Director at Meridian Capital Group. He opened the firm’s San Diego office in May 2011 charged with expanding the company’s presence throughout the western and southwestern states. In his 10+ years leading the west coast for Meridian, Mr. Grossman has built a team that has originated and closed more than $12 billion of debt and equity transactions spanning more than 600 loans across primary and esoteric asset types.

Prior to opening Meridian’s San Diego office, Mr. Grossman was a Structured Finance Analyst Fitch Ratings, a Principal at Mission Peak Capital, and worked in Meridian’s New York City office where he closed in excess of $3 billion.

Mr. Grossman attended NYU, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management.

Peter has 36 years of experience in commercial real estate brokerage, development, investment and consulting. Peter began developing

and investing in commercial real estate opportunities in 1985.

Pursuit of joint venture development opportunities led to corporate real estate assignments with Eastman Kodak, Texaco USA and Eli

Lilly. These relationships and experience led to the founding of Parkstone Companies, a provider of corporate real estate services to

Fortune 500 companies, investors and major financial institutions, including Security Pacific Bank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and

Sumitomo Bank.

Quinn later led southern California-based Voit Development Company’s efforts in San Diego from 2003 to 2007, becoming the third most

active real estate development company in the region while developing or acquiring nearly 1,000,000 square feet of office and industrial

product.
