Bob Nowak is Senior Vice President of Operations at BioMed Realty, where he oversees operations and facilities management across the company's San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Boulder markets — encompassing approximately 10 million square feet of lab and office space. In this role, Bob drives portfolio-wide performance while delivering a high level of service and strategic partnership to tenants, empowering innovators to focus on advancing new therapies and technologies.

Bob holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Arizona State University and an MBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.

An associate partner with Syska Hennessy Group, Robert manages staff and projects across the multi-discipline MEP services. Robert has extensive experience with laboratory and life sciences projects including spaces for ISO cleanroom pharma manufacturing, electron microscopy, mass spectroscopy, BSL-3 containment, NMR environments, neuropharmacology and electrophysiology. He’s worked on projects with The Scripps Research Institute, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, The Burnham Institute, Pfizer and Genentech. Robert’s depth of experience in both design and project management enhances collaboration with owners, architects, and contractors.

Trevor Wells, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, is an Associate Vice President and Principal in the Science + Technology practice in San Diego. With more than 25 years of architectural experience, Trevor brings expertise in the design and planning of interdisciplinary physical sciences and engineering environments, biocontainment laboratories, vivaria, cleanrooms, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. As a licensed Architect and a LEED Accredited Professional, he implements his experience in planning, interpreting, organizing, and managing projects through all phases of development, including establishing and monitoring budgets, managing the project team, and preparing schedules to ensure efficient utilization of resources. Trevor will focus on growing the firm’s life science client base and design expertise in research facilities throughout southern California. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.

Brenna Underwood has more than eight years of experience in the construction industry, delivering a diverse portfolio of high-profile laboratory, cleanroom, research and development, data center, secure space, advanced manufacturing, corporate office, and repositioning projects across Southern California. In her role as senior project manager, she serves as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the construction process, ensuring project success by monitoring client satisfaction, team effectiveness, and resource allocation, as well as each project’s financial, quality, safety, and schedule goals. Brenna leads preconstruction and budgeting efforts, subcontractor procurement, change management, and project closeout. During her time at HITT, she has built a notable portfolio of life sciences clients, including HATCHSpaces, PHASE Scientific, AstraZeneca, Abbvie, Metic Labs, Appia Bio, BioscienceLA, and Instil Bio. She is affiliated with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and Women in Bio (WIB) and is currently overseeing a test cell secure laboratory renovation in Anaheim, California, along with several corporate office and laboratory projects in Los Angeles.

Travis is a transactional attorney with comprehensive experience

representing developers and property owners in all aspects of life

science, retail, office, and mixed-use assets, including the negotiation

and drafting of leases, purchase and sale agreements, development and

management agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, and all

other agreements related to the acquisition, construction, development,

operation, and repositioning of commercial projects. Travis also

represents master developers in public-private partnerships, including

drafting and negotiating their long-term ground leases.

Travis’ clients appreciate his ability to thoroughly analyze and explain the

legal complexities of a situation, while balancing the practical, business,

and strategic ramifications of potential options, and his ability to

creatively develop solutions to complex matters. He understands that

where he received two CALI Awards in Real Estate Transactions and Constitutional Law. He has also worked and lived in Cuba, Spain, Mexico, and Ecuador.

John, an Education and Science Principal for HDR’s California practice, is a seasoned design professional with more than 35 years of experience in program management, architecture, strategic leadership and project management. He has successfully led multidisciplinary teams across global offices, delivering complex capital programs with consistent success in budget alignment, project execution, and client satisfaction. His leadership has played a key role in expanding market share and building inclusive, high-performing teams. He has been involved in facilities that empower scientists to discover cures for devastating diseases, develop clean energy solutions, protect natural resources and improve public health, enriching people’s lives around the world.

Habiba Manjurr is a Senior Project Manager and Team Lead at Clune Construction with 19 years of experience delivering complex, MEP-intensive commercial construction projects across healthcare, life sciences and advanced manufacturing. She joined Clune in 2024 to help lead Clune’s life sciences and lab portfolio in Los Angeles and currently manages Clune’s Ford Motor Company’s Electric Vehicle Development Center in Long Beach, a multi-phase design-build project incorporating advanced battery research, manufacturing and testing technology. A University of Southern California graduate with a BS in Biochemistry, Habiba brings a scientific mindset to construction—approaching challenges through rigorous analysis, collaboration and methodical problem-solving. In addition to her project leadership, she is an active mentor within Clune, a member of the firm’s Women’s ERG and a longtime community volunteer, reflecting her commitment to developing both people and the industry as a whole.

Kurt’s professional engineering career spans over 40 years. His expertise includes structural engineering design for Mission Critical Facilities such as Data Centers, Health Care Facilities such as Hospitals and Clinics and Life Sciences Facilities such as Biopharmaceutical Pilot Plants and Production Facilities around the United States and the World. His area of expertise is in designing buildings to be occupable after natural disasters including Tornados, Hurricanes and Earthquakes. He has been the structural engineer of record for conventional “fixed Base Buildings” ranging from 1-23 stories, “Base Isolated Buildings” ranging from 1-5 stories, and the retrofit and new construction of buildings incorporating Fluid Viscous Dampers ranging from 1-22 stories. He has published numerous papers on passive energy dissipation and presented the findings at various conventions in Boston, San Francisco and Milan.

For over 23 years as the Founding Principal at PARADIGM Structural Engineers, Kurt spends most of his time developing new leaders at PARADIGM and mentoring staff in Chicago and San Francisco.

Tom Lam is a Principal of Luminous Capital Management, a life science real estate investment management firm based in Irvine, CA. Tom’s primary responsibilities include acquisitions, due diligence, and capital raising. Over his 17-year career in commercial real estate, he has invested over $1 billion across multiple asset types and major Western markets on behalf of institutional and high net worth investors. Prior to Luminous, Tom has worked at firms such as Boardwalk Investments Group, Buchanan Street Partners, and Emmes Group. Mr. Lam graduated with an MBA and a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California in 2014. He is an active member of NAIOP.

Bill Hunter is Managing Director at Perceptive Real Estate Equities, Inc. With more than two decades of experience as a life sciences and healthcare real estate investor, developer and operator, his career spans a period dating back to when institutional life sciences real estate was still emerging as a distinct asset class. His career spans acquisitions, leasing, development, and asset repositioning across major US life sciences markets, with involvement in more than $10.5 billion of acquisitions, 12.4 million square feet of leasing, and 4.6 million square feet of campus repositioning projects in Boston, the Mid Atlantic, Research Triangle Park, San Francisco, San Diego, and Miami. Bill was a pre-IPO hire at BioMed Realty Trust and an early team member at Wexford Science and Technology, where he helped build two of the platforms that shaped the modern life sciences real estate market. His experience spans the full life cycle of laboratory, GMP, clinical, and R & D environments, including technical infrastructure, regulatory requirements, and the operational needs of pharmaceutical, bio technology, medical device, CDMO, and university research users. More recently, Bill has focused on complex and dislocated situations, supporting owners, lenders, and investors in navigating stalled projects, capital structure challenges, and asset repositioning decisions, with an emphasis on restoring stability and long-term optionality.
