Mr. LaFever joined Greystar in April 2014, as managing director of development in Orange and San Diego Counties. Prior to joining Greystar, Mr. LaFever was vice president of multifamily development for The Picerne Group, where he led Southern California Acquisition and Development efforts, and also previously worked in the same capacity for Trammell Crow Residential. Prior to joining The Picerne Group, Mr. LaFever was Co-Founder of the Southern California Division of Waypoint Homes, an institutional leader in the single family rental asset class, which is now publicly traded after its merger with Starwood (NYSE: SWAY). Mr. LaFever is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science Degrees in Finance & Marketing, and a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Masters in Real Estate Development.

Jim Chatfield fulfills two significant roles for the company: Managing Director of the San Diego office and Vice President of Construction, responsible for planning, design and construction activities. Chatfield is currently overseeing several active JMI Realty Projects including the master planning of Ballpark Village, a 3.2-million-square-foot development effort; master planning of the 35-acre Fullerton Transportation Center in Fullerton, California, that involves a mix of transit-oriented residential, office, retail and hospitality projects; and Hotel Van Zandt, a 322-room Kimpton managed hotel in Austin, Texas. Chatfield played a key role in the transformation of the Ballpark District surround PETCO Park, including the construction of the Omni San Diego Hotel, The Metropolitan Condominiums, East Village District Plant, and the retrofit of the Candy Factory and Schiefer & Sons historic buildings, both Orchid Award recipients. He also was responsible for the development of Paseo del Mar, a 232,000-square-foot, Class A office campus in Del Mar heights, and the acquisition and repositioning of the Phoenix Inns and Suites Hotels, a limited service hotel portfolio with 10 locations in the Oregon area. Prior to joining JMI Realty, Chatfield worked for five years with the United States Navy’s Civil Engineering Corps (CEC). While in the CEC, he specialized in government construction contracting, facilities planning and maintenance, and base realignment and closure actions. Chatfield served as staff civil engineer, and later as a project manager for over $300 million of construction at NAS/MCAS Miramar. His experience with the Navy varied from residential development on remote islands, to piers, refueling facilities and high-tech aircraft simulator construction.

Stacey Lankford Pennington has been involved in planning, design, community engagement and development in Downtown San Diego for fourteen years (since 1999). Initially working with Lankford + Associates, she was very involved in Broadway 655 + Smart Corner. After a few years in the industry, she pursued a Master in Urban Planning at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, graduating in 2005. She was awarded the Harvard University Frederick Sheldon Traveling Fellowship to research sustainable innovative housing delivery systems in urban environments in Europe. Stacey created SLP Urban Planning, an Urban Planning and Design firm focused on integrating best practices in sustainability and community engagement in 2006. While she spent several years balancing a broad spectrum of clients and projects, her current work is focused entirely on the planning, design and implementation of Makers Quarter, San Diego’s next urban neighborhood. Stacey is a member of the Downtown San Diego Partnership Board of Directors and Move San Diego Board of Directors. She is heavily involved in the Downtown Vision Plan as a member of its Urban Design Steering Committee. She also serves on the East Village Association Design Committee.

Richard Miltimore is a partner in the San Diego and Orange County offices of Allen Matkins. He represents private sector clients, including property developers, owners, and financial institutions. Rick has experience in a broad range of finance, leasing and real estate purchase and sale transactions, including secured lending, project development, real estate joint venture and equity fund formation, and equity- and asset-based property acquisitions and dispositions. Rick's experience also includes representing both landlords and tenants on a variety of leasing matters, including negotiating leases for industrial warehouses, retail, office space, bio-medical laboratory space, medical office buildings and data centers, as well as build-to-suit construction leases and ground leases. Rick's recent transactions include representing a real estate fund in connection with a multi-billion dollar joint venture to acquire a portfolio of dozens of residential apartment communities across the United States in a single transaction, as well as a similar transaction that closed in multiple stages. Prior to joining Allen Matkins, Rick was a member of the project finance and real estate practice group at Latham & Watkins LLP.

Jon has been an executive in and advisor to companies making the world happier, healthier and wiser -- and he has a special combination of experience as Co-Founder & Co-CEO of a greylock-backed start-up (Guru.com, a pioneer in the online human capital space, ultimately acquired by Kronos), leader in the F500 world (VP/GM EA SPORTS Active Fitness & VP/GM Global ecommerce @ Electronic Arts), COO/Advisor for mid-market consumer wellness leaders (Rodan + Fields, Perricone MD), and as an advisor to consumer & health-tech innovators (The Bar Method, Peach, Trumaker, Zeel, Greatist, CellScope, etc.). Jon is currently the GM for the West @ WeWork. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College where he hosted the school’s daily news broadcast. When he’s not working he chases his three little ones around with his wife Lexi.

Mr. Grossman is a Senior Managing Director at Meridian Capital Group. He opened the firm’s San Diego office in May 2011 charged with expanding the company’s presence throughout the western and southwestern states. In his 10+ years leading the west coast for Meridian, Mr. Grossman has built a team that has originated and closed more than $12 billion of debt and equity transactions spanning more than 600 loans across primary and esoteric asset types. Prior to opening Meridian’s San Diego office, Mr. Grossman was a Structured Finance Analyst Fitch Ratings, a Principal at Mission Peak Capital, and worked in Meridian’s New York City office where he closed in excess of $3 billion. Mr. Grossman attended NYU, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management. A graduate of Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, David formed McCullough Landscape Architecture as a sole proprietorship in 1999 while consulting for another firm. After wife and partner, Catherine joined the business in 2001 and became Chief Executive Officer and President in 2002; the firm became a woman-owned corporation and a certified Small Business by the State of California. With offices in San Diego and the Bay Area, McCullough creates spaces for hospitality, retail, mixed-use and institutional properties around the world. As principal landscape architect, David oversees all aspects of the design and production of firm projects at McCullough. He serves as head designer on all projects and maintains quality control on all work completed. Previous projects have earned awards and recognition in several national publications. David finds time in his schedule to take leadership in creative organizations such as the the San Diego Architecture Foundation (SDAF) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) local Urban Design Committee. He currently serves as Chair of the Pecha Kucha Night program, which is on its sixth successful year. He finds it inspiring to take part in such a diverse mix of creative minds while bringing them together to share with the public their wild ideas. In addition, recently David was appointed by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer to serve on the Historical Resources Board as Chair, which governs the identification, protection, retention and preservation of historical sites in San Diego. Concurrently, he has been invited to serve on the city’s Code Monitoring Team (CMT). David’s design philosophy is centered around merging context and creative passion with grit, soul, and style. The firm takes every project with a uniquely creative approach that centers around diversity, discovery and conservation. David feels it’s important to engage the human spirit with nature, while expressing empathy. Recent projects include a large waterfront development in Shanghai, China, Seaport San Diego redevelopment, several multifamily projects in Calgary and Vancouver, along with other notable hospitality, entertainment, and mixed-use collaborations in the Western US and Canada.
