I have over 15 years of experience in the healthcare MEP industry and have been involved in all aspects of the project from planning and feasibility through project management and construction administration. My specialty is providing and managing top quality engineering consulting services to major healthcare facilities on the east coast. I have led numerous critical healthcare projects including complex infrastructure upgrades. My expertise in healthcare design includes, but is not limited to, ambulatory care and surgical facilities, diagnostic imaging, critical care centers, cancer centers, children’s hospital, nursing homes, research laboratories, clean room pharmacies, dental schools and behavioral health centers.

Shawn is Vice President and Regional Manager for Gilbane’s Philadelphia office responsible for executive level oversight for the entire tristate region. Shawn has 24 years of construction experience with a primary focus on the healthcare sector. His experience ranges from fast-paced multi-phased and occupied fit-outs and conversions to vertical expansion overbuilds, medical office buildings, new acute care patient towers, operating rooms, cancer treatment centers, energy service centers with campus-wide distribution to full multi-phased masterplan expansions. Shawn’s healthcare experience totals well over one billion dollars with the largest single master plan valued at $465 million. Previous to Gilbane, Shawn served as Vice President of a large Philadelphia based Healthcare CM.

As the Director of Design at EwingCole, Saul believes that addressing the wellbeing of both patients and caregivers through the design of functional yet elegant and soothing environments is one of the most gratifying roles in the building industry. With over 25 years of experience, Saul has led the design of the firm’s largest, most technically sophisticated projects. He has won AIA Awards for facilities at Cooper University Hospital, Jefferson Health, University of Pennsylvania, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center among others, and was named HCD 10 Architect of the Year by Healthcare Design Magazine in 2016.

Ben Ochs is CEO of Anchor Health Properties and is based in the firm’s Charlottesville, VA, offices. Mr. Ochs has spent the majority of this career in the Development, Ownership, Operations, Financing, Asset Management, Leasing, Acquisition and Disposition of Healthcare Real Estate to hospitals, physician practice groups, and private and institutional healthcare real estate investors throughout the Southeast. Previous to that, Mr. Ochs served as a Financial and Underwriting Analyst at a boutique consulting firm.

Shane Funston is a Senior Director in Brokerage Services at the Cushman & Wakefield’s Philadelphia

office. Specializing in Healthcare, Shane is part of Cushman & Wakefield’s Healthcare Advisory

JoAnn Magnatta, Senior Vice President of Facilities Design and Construction/Real Estate at

Main Line Health, has served in Senior Healthcare positions for more than 25 years. She joined

Main Line Health in 2001, and in her role she oversees the design, construction and maintenance

of over 7 million square feet of real estate. She is also responsible for the acquisition,

disposition, development and management of all real estate operations, maintenance and

engineering services, system security operations and emergency preparedness.

Prior to joining Main Line Health, JoAnn served as Corporate Vice President of Real Estate

Services and Facilities at Continuum Health System, a five hospital, Manhattan based Health

System, Vice President, Facilities and Real Estate for Tenet Healthcare and Vice President of

Operations for Allegheny Health.

JoAnn is a member of several local, regional and national organizations, including Commercial

Rebecca Pizzi, Vice President, Operations Manager, is responsible for advancing Skanska’s Philadelphia-based operations (PA/NJ/DE) and ensuring projects are delivered successfully to our client’s. With over two decades of industry experience, Pizzi specializes in the construction management of healthcare, higher education and Life Science facilities. A LEED® accredited professional, Pizzi also holds OSHA 10 and 30-Hour certifications, is a Six Sigma Global Institute (SSGI) Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt and has attended The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania – Executive Education leading & managing People. She received her B.S. in mechanical engineering from Trenton State College .

As Vice President of Facilities Development, Julie Herb oversees all design and development,

construction, and real estate for Virtua Health. Virtua is South Jersey’s largest health system with five

hospitals and approximately 300 additional locations throughout the region. Having worked on a

multitude of projects and negotiations over her career, including the region’s first Proton Therapy

Center, Julie’s current responsibilities include executive oversight for care transformation initiatives at

Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Virtua Mount Holly Hospital.

Over the past twenty-five years, Julie has proven to be an industry leader in the health care real estate

and development space. Among the many accomplishments throughout her leadership journey, Julie

has led the facilities efforts for the Epic transformation across the multi-hospital system, the integration

of numerous properties from acquisition activities, the disposition of facilities from a variety of

initiatives, as well as oversight of billions of dollars of capital construction, renovation, and

infrastructure projects. Julie continues to work on facility master planning activities for Virtua, as well as

countless strategic initiatives which will position Virtua well for many years into the future.

As a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and the Business Management Program of the Wharton

School of the University of Pennsylvania, Julie holds a professional designation with the Counselors of

Real Estate, serving as Chapter Treasurer, and is also a Member of the Board of Trustees with Oaks

Katherine Behan, MD is Senior Vice President of Population Health for Jefferson Health. In this

role, Dr. Behan collaborates with Jefferson Health’s leadership to define the accountable care

strategic direction and roadmap development to improve the health of populations. Dr. Behan

works with her Enterprise team and Division leaders in developing, deploying, and championing

care models and care management programs to improve population health outcomes, quality

and cost of care for the populations served by Jefferson Health and Jefferson’s CIN. Prior roles

include CMO for Jefferson Health Northeast’s Physician group as well as Senior Medical Director

with clinical oversight of the Clinics Division for a Medicare Advantage Company.

Dr. Behan received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Providence College and her

Medical Degree from MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine. She completed her residency in

Internal Medicine at the Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Behan is certified by the

American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She

serves as a Physician delegate on the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board 2.

Melissa serves as Wulff’s Director of Healthcare Design. Creatively analytical by nature; her family often jokes she should have become a lawyer. Instead she employs that skill to bring a sharp focus and thoughtful approach to optimize design solutions for her clients. Over 12 years of experience at every level of the design and construction process gives her a sixth sense for anticipating challenges before they impact a project’s budget or schedule. Staying on top of trends in the healthcare industry enables her and her team to foresee the very different needs of coming generations and their impact on future facility design.

Melissa fundamentally believes that design has the potential to not only improve the lives of individuals but also enhance entire communities. This philosophy is evident in the recently completed Edison 64 Veterans Community. Melissa led the multi-year, $10 million adaptive reuse of this historic school into a certified Green Community for veterans. This unique project integrates healthcare and housing services in an innovative way to ensure our nation’s heroes are set up for success upon their return to civilian life.

Melissa's favorite things include birthdays, distance running, iced coffee, and her home state of Wisconsin. She is also is a LEED ID+C accredited professional and volunteers regularly with the Community Design Collaborative.

Anthony is well known for his entrepreneurial ecosystem engagement throughout the city of Philadelphia. He is Co-founder and former CEO of Benjamin’s Desk (now 1776), serving as a champion and growth strategist for entrepreneurs.

Anthony Maher joins Scott Mazo as Partner and President of UPA in January 2019. He is a strong advocate for public/private partnerships and will strategically curate every UPA building with the Philadelphia innovation ecosystem in mind. Anthony’s experience curating coworking space as Chief Growth Officer of 1776 is expansive. Mr. Leibler has 40 years of experience in the real estate industry.
