In 1917, General Electric occupied the 6 story factory building and later built an annex that was much closer to the old North House. The plant made electrical switchgears and employed over 1,000 people at its peak. This complex survives, with the tall building serving as creative office space and the annex is home to the Electric Factory music venue. Thomas Edison was the first name on the deed, now its Arts + Crafts Holdings.
