Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital

Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital

Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital opened its doors on January 30, 2021. The beautiful six-story, 214,000-square-foot facility features a 120-patient-bed capacity and seamlessly integrates the 78,000-square-foot emergency department and medical pavilion that began serving our community in 2018.

In one convenient location, Orlando Health Horizon West brings comprehensive health services, personalized care and state-of-the-art imaging and treatments to West Orange County, Florida, and the Horizon West community.

In the hospital, patients have access to multiple specialists, including top physicians in cardiovascular care, emergency care, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Primary care and outpatient specialty services are provided in the adjacent medical pavilion. The benefit of this is that patients can see their care providers, get imaging, laboratory or diagnostic tests, and receive the latest treatments on one campus.

Design impacts how we feel in tangible ways. As a healthcare architect, Veronique helps to plan and

create spaces that do more than just meet codes and satisfy basic requirements.

The design of hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities has a measurable impact on clinical

outcome, pain reduction, stress levels, and staff satisfaction. Because of these positive associations with

evidence-informed design, patient stays are reduced, costs are lower, and there are additional social

and economic benefits to the community.

Veronique looks forward to going the extra mile. She looks beyond logistics to the nuances of the built

environment: How can a building help patients heal from illness or injury and bounce back? How can a

building attract new, talented team members and retain current staff? This is where the art and science

of our craft come together.

Veronique’s aspiration is innovative and sustainable design, on budget, on schedule—and a happy

team.

The secret? Collaboration and communication. She makes listening to the various perspectives of

clients, psychologists, contractors, engineers, and consultants a priority. Her goal is to forge a consensus,

using novel ideas and hard-won expertise to bring innovation and change, transforming dreams into

reality.
