New York Healthcare & Life Sciences Summit

Healthcare continues to dominate national headlines, with major mergersacquisitionsand uncertainty around the ACA. Subsequently, there have been several opportunities within the real estate market. CBRE's 2018 U.S. Medical Office Buildings findings propose a variety of outlooks:

- The senior citizen population (65+), which is the highest per-capita healthcare spending demographic, will double by 2055

- The absorption of medical office space continues to be greater than the supply, which has lead to an 8% vacancy rate (* as of Q1 2017)

- The aging population and increased insured population are the two biggest drivers in today's healthcare market.

Overall, the mission for healthcare is clear: provide quality service to a mass population in an efficient, ethical and cost-effective manner. With rising costs, however, executing healthcare's mission is an incredible challenge.

As healthcare evolves to keep up with industry demands, how can hospital systems, healthcare providers and real estate executives work together to succeed in delivering quality healthcare while maintaining a valuable return on investment?

CBRE's 2019 U.S. Life Sciences Clusters report finds that Life Science clusters continue to grow at rapid rates across the country. Noticeable findings include:

- Chasing after the Life Sci epicenters of Boston-Cambridge and San Francisco, #7 ranked New York has seen serious momentum building off its rich academic pool.

- Venture capital funding to the life sciences industry has surged 86% over the past year, driving employment growth, new construction and increased attention from investors.
