B2 Design Co.

A true exemplar of Texas’ enterprising spirit, Allison is an entrepreneur, a businesswoman, a visionary architect, and a designer in her own right. Allison’s discerning style and magnetic disposition are key to B2’s success. Her passion for keeping her team challenged and fulfilled in equal measure leads to frequent adventures (think neighborhood bike ride or all-team spin class) and spontaneous outings (think fabulous hotels, eateries or other local favorites). As the company’s captain and fearless leader, her treasured team would follow her into fire and back — or at least down a long stretch of the Trinity Trail in heels in high summer as long as her beloved dog Betty June is in tow.

Allison graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Architecture. She honed her skills in the Chicago area at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and A. Epstein & Sons and Good, Fulton & Farrell Architects in Dallas where she met many developers who still bear the dual distinction of friend and client.

In 2007, Allison founded B2 Design Co. A life-long learner and teacher, Allison serves as a mentor for The Real Estate Council, although she’ll tell you she learns just as much as she teaches from this experience. Allison is also involved in starting The Hockaday Real Estate group which serves to assist fellow alumni and current students interested in the real estate profession. Allison is a member of The University of Texas School of Architecture Advisory Council and part of the inaugural class of the Longhorn 100. Allison is also a proud member for YPO Lonestar Chapter.

When not in the office, Allison enjoys the great outdoors … well, from a patio somewhere in Oak Cliff, Chapel Hill, or Palm Springs with one hand on a martini and her eyes fixed on her young daughter. Her husband, Jeff Tucker, is sure to be close by refreshing the olives.

Why You Should Attend This Event

Why This Matters:

The Research Triangle has long been known for it's institutions of higher learning, which have seen a record number of both applications, and enrollment figures. These factors have naturally driven a tremendous amount of activity within the Student Housing segment of the commercial real estate ecosystem. A recent Berkadia report listed NC State as the university with the 10th largest active construction pipeline of new units in 2024, alone. With well over 90% occupancy of these communities: rents continue to rise, as do new projects. However, the same report did not mention any universities in their top 50 schools with the highest supply-demand imbalance.

With major projects on the horizon, and tuition costs continuing to rise, this event will detail the level of risk in overbuilding within the region. As students turnover year-over-year, it will also discuss best practices in pre-leasing, retention of students not yet set to graduate, and managing effectively to maximize returns. It will also detail campus development initiatives among major institutions, and how facilities and campus environments can aid in attracting the highest caliber applicants. Join Bisnow, and our assembled panelists, as we detail the most pressing opportunities and roadblocks for continued investment performance represented in the sector, as we aim to position you in search of your next deal.

What You'll Learn:

  • How are institutions prioritizing the facilities to upgrade as enrollment grows?

  • How are campuses and facilities being designed to facilitate high performance?

  • What real estate decisions are being made to attract the highest caliber applicants?

  • What enrollment, application, and other metrics are investors finding confidence in for these types of assets in the region?

  • How are developers aligning scale, rental rates, and unit mix with market demand?

  • With certain areas around the major universities seeing the lionshare of project activity, how are site selection and valuations being impacted?

  • How can property owners and managers successfully plan around resident turnover annually?

  • What best practices are being implemented to ensure optimal pre-leasing activity?

  • What risk mitigation and efficiency strategies are being utilized on the property and portfolio level?
