His industry involvement includes ULI, NAIOP, and The Real Estate Council. He also serves as an Advisory Council member for the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.

Rick Cavenaugh is the founder and President of Stoneleigh Companies, a private real estate development

company. His 36-year national career in real estate includes building successful development and

ownership companies including Stoneleigh, Fifield Companies, Prime Residential/Ambassador

Apartments and Pacific Realty. Rick graduated in 1982 with a B.S. in civil engineering from the

University of Illinois and is very involved in student leadership initiatives at U of I. He has been involved

in numerous housing initiatives and is an active industry speaker. In Dallas, Stoneleigh’s most current

activity includes One Uptown, Waterford Market (Frisco) and Switchyard (Carrollton).

Walt Zartman

Walt Zartman is Senior Vice President of Hillwood Urban, where he pursues

and overseas the implementation of landmark development

opportunities throughout the North Texas region.

Mr. Zartman is currently overseeing the development of Victory Commoms,

a 352,000 square foot, Class AA office tower in Victory Park. Other recent

projects include the Turtle Creek Office project, a consolidation of the Perot

Companies into a campus headquarters located in Uptown Dallas as well

as the iconic Perot Museum of Nature and Science, a 170,000 square foot,

$190 million project. The project opened ahead of schedule and under

budget, and has become one of North Texas’ most important entertainment

and educational attractions. Current developments in design are Class AA

office projects in Victory Park and Turtle Creek as well as a new

landmark skyscraper adjacent to Woodall Rodgers Freeway in Downtown

Dallas.

Prior to joining Hillwood Development, Mr. Zartman served as Vice

President, Investments & Development for Crescent Real Estate

Equities in both Houston and Dallas. At Crescent, Mr. Zartman was the

development officer responsible for 5 Houston Center, a 580,000 square foot

Class A office tower and the re-development and “re-branding” of The

Park Shops, a 290,000 square foot retail center in downtown Houston,

Texas. In addition, Mr. Zartman was the development officer in charge of a

250,000 square foot Class A office building in Las Vegas, Nevada as well as

the 590,000 square foot Ritz Carlton Hotel and Residences in Dallas, Texas.

Prior to joining Crescent, Mr. Zartman served as Vice President of

Development for Hines in Dallas, Texas. During his 14-year tenure with

Hines, Mr. Zartman was responsible for the development of more than

900,000 square feet of Class A office space (including Galleria North in

North Dallas and Computer Associates Plaza in Plano) and for the

acquisition of projects in the southwest region of the United States.

Mr. Zartman was also responsible for the day-to-day asset management

of a 2.3 million square foot office portfolio in Dallas, Texas and of

approximately 594,000 square feet of properties located in San Antonio and

Austin, Texas, as well as Albuquerque, New Mexico.

During his more than 32 year career, Mr. Zartman has been directly

responsible for the development and construction of more than 3.7 million

square feet, representing in excess of $1.1 billion in value.

Mr. Summerville provides operational leadership and vision on all of KDP’s real estate development projects, maintaining intimate involvement with every facet of a project from site acquisition through asset disposition. With an intense attention to detail, Mr. Summerville brings a breadth of experience in managing large, technically sophisticated development projects and financial transactions. That same attention to detail allows him to successfully balance market demand, capital structure requirements, and project delivery constraints. Mr. Summerville is a perfectionist by nature and unwavering in his commitment to delivering exceptional quality. Throughout his career, Mr. Summerville has managed over $2,000,000,000 of development projects, and $630,000,000 specifically in the healthcare sector, all without a single cost overrun. His personal passion for environmental stewardship serves as a driver for KDP’s corporate mission to promote and develop sustainable buildings.

Prior to co-founding KDP, Mr. Summerville was Chief Operating Officer and a partner at NRG, where he was instrumental in growing the start-up firm from $250,000 to $7,000,000 in annual revenues, while developing a portfolio of new, high quality real estate assets valued at approximately $630,000,000. During this time, Mr. Summerville and the other executives at NRG were successful in liquidating half of the portfolio, yielding investor profitability of approximately $125,000,000. After graduating in 2000 from Texas A&M University’s College of Architecture with a B.S. in Construction Science, Mr. Summerville joined the Dallas office of The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. For over five years he served as a project manager directly involved in the preconstruction and execution of large commercial construction projects throughout the country. In 2006, Mr. Summerville joined Las Vegas-based GSG Development, serving as a development executive, where he managed all aspects of the firm’s mixed-use, high-rise residential, and commercial office real estate development efforts.

Vincent M. Hunter, AIA is a Managing Principal at WDG Architecture. Mr. Hunter has led a variety of Multifamily, Mixed Use, and Hospitality projects nationwide. Most recently, WDG completed the 390 unit Novel Midtown Tampa and the 298 unit Axio at Carillon in St. Petersburg. His experience in design and project management has created buildings that reflect each client’s unique identity and aspirations. Mr. Hunter is that architect who can draw anything and enjoys open drawing charrette sessions where solving design problems in real time is a priority. Consequently, Mr. Hunter’s illustrations have been published in AIA Dallas Springboard, Texas Architect, and D Magazine. Mr. Hunter is licensed in 7 states and earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.

Growing up in a family of builders laid the foundation and by thirteen, Don Powell

was working commercial construction projects and on his way to an architecture

degree from Ball State University. He began his career in Indianapolis, and four

decades ago launched the firm now known as BOKA Powell. A broad range of

projects followed, and after planning and designing more than 35 million square

feet of architecture and interiors, he maintains that the best design solutions

come from a thorough understanding of the problem and allowing that clarity to

drive the process. Don stays deeply involved in his projects from beginning to end

and continues his professional education through Executive Graduate Courses at

Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Artemio De La Vega is the founder and CEO of De La Vega Development, a commercial real estate firm specializing in dynamic mixed-use developments. Mr. De La Vega has more than 25 years of experience in the entrepreneurial and real estate industry, with a focus on single-tenant, multi-tenant retail centers and mixed-use developments. He brings a versatile and deep knowledge of development, master planning, entitlements, construction and capital markets to every project.

Mr. De La Vega has successfully invested, acquired, developed or redeveloped more than 100 commercial real estate projects throughout the world. Some of his more notable projects include the 900,000 square-foot Las Palmas Marketplace in El Paso, TX; the 900,000-square-foot Canyon West in Lubbock, TX; the 400,000-square-foot Kings Crossing in Shreveport, LA; as well as multiple industrial distribution and manufacturing facilities for clients such as Chrysler, General Motors, Alcoa, Yazaki, Bergamasca and more.

As a recognized leader in the commercial real estate industry, Mr. De La Vega frequently serves as a panelist for many leadership and future vision summits. He is also a guest columnist for a variety of publications and active with several professional organizations, including the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and The Real Estate Council (TREC). Commercial Real Estate and an Associate at Transwestern. Sarah graduated

from Miami University before relocating to Dallas, Texas in 2003.

Sarah focuses her life around wellness and balance. In 2018, she obtained a 200-

hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification. Sarah enjoys spending time with her

In his role, Brewer oversees HALL Group’s asset management, development, and marketing teams, managing the company’s real estate portfolio valued at approximately $1.5 billion. Additionally, he serves on the loan committee for HALL Structured Finance, the company’s private lending division.

Before joining HALL Group, Brewer spent 18 years at Hines, where he most recently held the position of market leader for the Dallas operations. During his tenure at Hines, he led numerous real estate developments in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and was deeply involved in acquisitions, refinancing, REO transactions, zoning/entitlement, and real estate development. Earlier in his career, Ben worked at KPMG LLP.

Brewer is a member of the board of directors for The Real Estate Council (TREC), Klyde Warren Park Corporate Council, White Rock Lake Foundation, and the Dallas Regional Chamber.

He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Baylor University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Chismark is a Partner with Morrison & Head, a Texas based property tax consulting, due diligence and appeals practice. He oversees the Dallas office working with institutional owners of commercial real estate through acquisition, development and property tax protests. Mr. Chismark’s team represents $14.5 Billion in commercial real estate in DFW. Morrison & Head is the fastest growing tax consulting practice in Texas and was recently named one of DFW’s 100 fastest growing companies for 2020. Ryan grew up in Syracuse, NY before relocating to Texas in 2012. He lives in Dallas with his wife Chelsea and his labradoodle Dwight.
