Brett has grown up in the self-storage industry. As Bob Copper’s son, he has worked with Self Storage 101, the country’s leading self-storage consulting firm, since he was a teenager. After college, Brett worked with CubeSmart to gain further insight into 3rd Party Management and Operations before joining Self Storage 101 full time.

For the last 5 years, Brett has worked with hundreds of self-storage owners and operators on management, marketing, acquisitions, feasibility and training for facilities all over the United States. Seeing a growing need for alternative management solutions in the industry, Brett, along with the rest of the Copper family, created Copper Storage Management.

Today, Copper Storage Management has become the largest 3rd party management company specifically catering to remote self-storage facilities. Copper Storage Management currently manages over one hundred and fifty facilities nationwide and continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. The Copper’s have also acquired a large portfolio of unmanned facilities under the brand Copper Safe Storage.

Mike Mele, Executive Vice Chairman, leads Cushman & Wakefield’s national Self-Storage Advisory

Group. The group is a trusted advisor for clients ranging from private investors to large-scale REITs in

the acquisition, disposition, recapitalization, development, expansion, debt, equity, and asset

management of self-storage assets. Based in Tampa, the 22-member multi-market team has closed

more than 700 self-storage transactions totaling more than $8 billion. In 2021 alone, the group closed

84 transactions, consisting of 188 properties in 35 states totaling over $2.3 billion in volume.

Mr. Mele began his career in self-storage investment sales in 1999. He built an industry-leading team,

which he brought to Cushman & Wakefield in 2019.

With over two decades of experience as a self-storage advisor, Mr. Mele’s expertise and vast

contributions to the industry have made him a key advisor in the self-storage market. He is consistently

recognized by industry organizations as well as national and trade publications for his critical leadership,

expertise and knowledge of the self-storage industry.

Steven Weinstock is First Vice President / Regional Manager of Marcus & Millichap’s Chicago Oak Brook office. He also serves as the National Director of both the Land & Redevelopment Division and the Self-Storage Division.

Steven began his commercial real estate career in the 1980’s leasing office properties in metro Detroit. Eventually, he opened his own brokerage and property management company and sold it to Trammell Crow Company in 1994. He joined Marcus & Millichap’s Detroit office in April 2001 becoming Vice President of Investments and was a Director of the National Multi Housing Group and a Member of the National Self-Storage Group. Mr. Weinstock is the recipient of multiple national achievement and sales recognition awards.

Steven joined the management team in 2008 when he served as Sales Manager of the Columbus and Cincinnati offices. He was named Regional Manager of Chicago Oak Brook in 2009, Vice President in 2012 and was promoted to First Vice President in 2015. He became National Director of Land & Redevelopment Division in 2016 and Self-Storage Division in 2020.

Steven received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School. He earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation (CCIM). Mr. Weinstock enjoys serving on the Executive Board of the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation, a foundation committed to cancer research as well as education/mentor programs designed to provide college and graduate students with exposure to, and experience in, the commercial real estate industry. Steven and his wife, Lisa, reside in Chicago and have two sons, Nathan and Jeremy. In his free time, he enjoys travel, swimming and spending time with his family.
