Mark Cianciolo is Executive Director, Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network, LLC, a regional clinically integrated network of leading health systems and clinicians across Tennessee and surrounding states. He also serves as the Executive Director of Corporate Health for Vanderbilt University to provide programs and services directly to local and regional employers. His background includes more than 25 years of diversified experience in management and consulting positions within the health care industry. Mr. Cianciolo recently served as Managing Principal at Strategic Advisory Group, Inc., contracting Management Strategic Advisory Services through North Highland (Highland Worldwide). Mr. Cianciolo was also Senior Principal with Mercer where he focused on provider health plans and employer/purchaser health care issues. He also worked with Accenture as an Associate Partner, and later served as CEO and Founder of the Sarah Cannon Research Institute. Mark’s experience in new start-up ventures has allowed him to strategically build and lead business ventures designed to capture market share and achieve strong financial performance.

He has been responsible for the development and financing of acute care and inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and medical office buildings. In addition to his role at Carter Validus, Mr. Golik has led a variety of efforts in healthcare such as acquisitions, development, underwriting and investment at KDC and The Cirrus Group. To date he has completed projects in excess of $300 million. He started his career at Archon Group a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs.

Jason is the Founder and Managing Partner of Big Sky Medical Real Estate Funds. He has spent his career exclusively in the healthcare real estate industry and is a well-established thought leader in the medical office and senior living sectors. Jason began his career as a civil engineer designing hospitals in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduate school, he ventured into medical office development and found his niche organizing physicians into real estate partnerships. Since then, he has developed or acquired over six million square feet of healthcare real estate in 19 states valued in excess of $1.6 billion. Jason prides himself on his hands-on approach and his deep understanding of the underlying drivers of value.

Prior to starting Big Sky, Jason founded Caddis Partners, LLC in early 2008 and was its CEO, largest shareholder, and sole managing partner from its inception until May of 2020. During his tenure, Jason grew Caddis from a small boutique developer to one of the largest Healthcare Real Estate platforms in the United States with over 60 professionals spread amongst its four offices. Modern Healthcare consistently ranked Caddis one of the top ten Healthcare Real Estate developers in the United States by annual deal volume.

In 2016, Jason was voted by a panel of his peers the national Healthcare Real Estate Executive of the Year by Healthcare Real Estate Insights and was awarded Most Admired CEO for North Texas from the Dallas Business Journal in 2019. Jason serves on several boards including the Folsom Institute at SMU, Texas A&M Mays Business School Real Estate Advisory Board, and The Real Estate Council (TREC). He is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and Ernst and Young named him as a finalist for the EY 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Jason currently serves alongside his wife, Jean, as co-chair of Highland Park Education Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign (Mad for Plaid). He is the past Chairman for the Texas Business Hall of Fame and is a past President of the Dad’s Club for University Park Elementary School. Through his work with Habitat for Humanity, Jason became passionate about housing and education for those in need. He dedicates his time and financial support to affordable housing and scholarships to deserving students. Jason graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University, where he served as president of his class, graduated with honors, and was the recipient of the Cox School of Business Outstanding Young Alumni Award. Raised in the Texas Hill Country, he enjoys ranching, fly fishing and spending time with his wife, two children, and three dogs.

Kevin Dillon

Kevin Dillon currently serves as the Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Financial Officer of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), in the Texas Medical Center. He has held several executive-level positions at the Health Science Center, including Executive Vice President for Administration and Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer. He assumed responsibilities as the Chief Operating Officer in September 2007 and was promoted to Senior Executive Vice President in January 2011.

Kevin has worked for UTHealth since 1996, during which time he has served in a number of financial, administrative and operational capacities. He currently has ultimate responsibility for virtually all of the non-academic operational areas of this $1.4 billion component of the University of Texas System (including responsibility for facilities, information technology, finance, budgeting, human resources, strategic planning, practice plan business operations, auxiliary enterprises, environmental health and safety, and technology management). He has a direct reporting relationship with all of the chief administrative officers in the Health Science Center’s six schools (i.e., Medical, Dental, Public Health, Nursing, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and Health Information Sciences), as well as the Harris County Psychiatric Center and several research institutes.

Kevin is also the treasurer of UTHealth’s 1,300 provider healthcare corporation, “UT Physicians.” He serves on the executive committee of the board of the Texas Medical Center’s Thermo-Electric Corporation. He has also chaired the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Health Related Institutions’ Formula Advisory Committee.

Prior to working at UTHealth, Kevin worked for Pennzoil Quaker State and Ernst & Young in a variety of accounting and financial roles. He is a CPA and achieved the Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Management Accountant Professional designations, earlier in his career.

For many years, Kevin was a board member, and ultimately board chair, of the Houston-area Harris School, a therapeutic pre-school for special needs children. The Harris School is affiliated with the Galveston-Houston Psychoanalytic Institute.

Kevin graduated from UT-Austin with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in business administration.

Sidney Sanders

Houston Methodist

id Sanders is the Senior Vice President for Construction/Facilities Design and Real Estate Management at Houston Methodist. He is also President and CEO of TMH Medical Office Buildings, a subsidiary of Houston Methodist. He is responsible for a $4 Billion capital construction program and campus master planning at all campuses. He oversees a multi-hundred million dollar real estate portfolio and a two million SF medical office building portfolio. In the last eight years he has overseen the construction and opening of 750 new beds.

He chairs the Facility Council overseeing facility operations, capital renewal and expansion of seven hospital campuses, seven emergency care centers, imaging centers and numerous clinic centers. Houston Methodist has been named by ENR Texas-Louisiana as the 2015 Owner of the Year.

He is a member of the Texas Medical Center Strategy and Operations Council.

Prior to joining Methodist, Mr. Sanders served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Planning and Construction for The University of Texas System where he was responsible for a $5.0 billion capital construction program for UT System. This included building major capital projects for M D Anderson Cancer Center, UT Medical Branch in Galveston, Southwest Medical Center in Dallas and The University of Texas at Austin.

Mr. Sanders received a professional degree in Architecture from University of Texas at Austin in 1978, graduating w/ Honors and an MBA in Finance from University of Texas at Austin in 1990, graduating Beta Gamma Sigma.

Mr. Sanders is the co-author of the book “Program Management 2.0” recently published by Construction Management Association of America, concerning concepts and strategies for managing building programs.

From 2005 to 2013 Mr. Sanders assisted with the planning, design and construction of the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas.

Davis Griffin

Davis Griffin serves as a Principal with Trammell Crow Company with a specific focus on healthcare development in central and south Texas. She is responsible for all aspects of the development process from identifying opportunities to contract negotiation, financing and leasing, and has significant experience with healthcare and higher education development projects, including medical office buildings and student housing.

Beginning in 2006, Davis developed a healthcare focus and has partnered with such clients as the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, Princeton HealthCare System in Princeton, New Jersey, Main Line Health in suburban Philadelphia and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She specializes in the development of all types of healthcare properties, both as a principal investor and on a fee basis, with the goal to help clients identify and execute real estate solutions to best deliver quality care to patients. Davis has also managed leasing of medical office space to physician tenants and developed a deep understanding of the importance, intricacies and complexities of physician relationships with healthcare systems.

Prior to her healthcare focus, Davis joined TCC in 2002 as part of the Higher Education Services Group working with higher education institutions on the feasibility, financing and overall development of both academic and residential projects.

Deeni Taylor

D. Deeni Taylor is our Executive Vice President – Chief Investment Officer.

Taylor comes to the Physicians Realty Trust from Indianapolis based Duke Realty, Inc. (NYSE:DRE), where he served as an Executive Vice President helping to lead Duke’s healthcare team since 2006.

Prior to his healthcare real estate career, Taylor enjoyed a 25-year hospital career. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for St. Vincent Health, an Ascension Health ministry including 16 hospitals serving central Indiana. He also served as President of UNITY Health Management Services in Birmingham, Alabama and worked for Ascension’s St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama as the Vice President of Planning and Marketing. Prior to that, he worked for St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, where he served as Vice President Ancillary Services.

He is a graduate of Purdue University, with a B.S. in Pharmacy, and Central Michigan University with a Master of Science in Hospital Administration. Mr. Taylor is a member of ULI and serves on their Healthcare and Life Science Council. He is a member of the Healthcare Real Estate Insights Editorial Board and a past Diplomat in American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Taylor has served on Peyton Manning’s PeyBack Foundation since 2001.

Steve Wheeler

As Vice President, Healthcare Development, Steve is responsible for overseeing a healthcare development project from its conception through completion. He plans, directs and coordinates all development project activity to ensure that project planning goals and objectives are met. Steve joined Duke Realty from Trammell Crow Company where he was Vice President, Development. He has a broad range and more than 16 years of experience, gaining an understanding of the entire real estate development and investment process, from pro-forma budgeting to construction, marketing and leasing. Steve provides expertise in project defi nition and coordination; site selection, acquisition, due diligence, and land planning; owner and tenant relations; communication with project team, vendors, and representatives; schedule and budget compliance; and overall quality assurance.

Vic Schmerbeck is Executive Vice President of Strategy & Development with Emerus.  Mr. Schmerbeck focuses his efforts on health system partnerships, market penetration and clinical service lines in existing health system partnered markets, and overall growth and development of Emerus' business in partnership with health systems. Vic's background involves over twenty years of investment and merchant banking experience, particularly in the healthcare services and health system markets.  He also has a long background advising and financing growth-oriented healthcare companies.  Mr. Schmerbeck earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate from Southern Methodist University.  He has served on several private company boards of directors and is involved with numerous charitable endeavors involving healthcare and at-risk children.

James McDeavitt

Dr James McDeavitt, a specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, serves a dual leadership role. He is Dean of Clinical Affairs at the Baylor College of Medicine, and also serves as Chief Clinical Integration Officer for CHI- St Luke’s Health System. His responsibility is create linkages – between physicians and CHI St Luke’s hospitals; between Baylor educational programs and communities in need of health care providers; between cutting edge research programs and the bedside. These linkages help the Baylor College of Medicine and CHI St Luke’s Health System deliver patient-focused, high quality care to the people of Houston and eastern Texas. Dr. McDeavitt came to Baylor from the Carolinas HealthCare System, one of the largest and most comprehensive systems in the country, where he served as chief academic officer and senior vice president for education and research. During his nine years in that position, he led a substantial expansion of the academic mission of that organization. His responsibilities included all aspects of the academic enterprise: undergraduate and graduate medical education, continuing medical education, research from bench to clinical implementation and allied health education. McDeavitt also served as the founding associate dean for the Charlotte Campus of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he served as the executive leader for a variety of operational initiatives across a two-state, 40-hospital care delivery system. Among his accomplishments were development of a tertiary/quaternary referral system; implementation of a system-wide critical care service line; and design of a comprehensive approach to large scale physician leadership development. In addition, while in the Carolinas he founded a new division of International Medical Outreach. This group works to build health care deliver capacity for the people of Central America, through infrastructure development, provision of equipment and training of health care professionals. The group has current projects in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Belize. McDeavitt received his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University and, following a year of medical missionary work in rural Guatemala, completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he served as chief resident. Prior to his current role at the Carolinas HealthCare System, McDeavitt was the founding chair the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Carolinas Medical Center. As chair, he worked with a team that built nationally recognized education and research programs, while simultaneously expanding inpatient and outpatient programs regionally.

Luke Savage

Luke Savage serves as Director of European Operations and Acquisitions for Medical Properties Trust, Inc. (NYSE: MPW), the leading source of capital for hospitals in the United States and Western Europe and the only U.S. healthcare REIT focusing exclusively on hospitals. He has been a part of MPT since 2007, serving in the Birmingham, AL corporate headquarters, the New York office, and currently is located in the company’s Luxembourg office. His responsibilities include sourcing, due diligence and selection of investment opportunities. During his career with MPT, the company’s portfolio has grown to more than 200 hospital properties in five countries, worth over $6 billion.

A native of Dallas, TX, Mr. Savage earned a BBA in Accounting from Harding University in Searcy, AR. A Certified Public Accountant, he spent six years with Ernst & Young, concentrating on the telecom and e-commerce industries. He later worked as a Regional Controller in the Plano, Tx corporate headquarters of Triad Hospitals, handling a portfolio of more than 10 acute care hospitals. He then moved to Birmingham as assistant CFO of a Triad/CHS hospital, where he managed the Finance, Accounting and Materials Management departments.

Mr. Savage with his wife and three children are transitioning from Birmingham, AL to Luxembourg City, Lux. He serves on the board of the Alabama Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is the current board chair for charity events.

Mervyn Alphonso

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, he lends his acute understanding of the healthcare real estate sector across Anchor’s business platforms. With more than 20 years specializing in the healthcare real estate industry, he is involved in the firm's investments and development platforms, including leading acquisition transactions, as well as development projects and management engagements.

Offering significant knowledge of the healthcare sector, Mervyn’s depth of experience as an accomplished professional, includes acquisitions, development, financial feasibility, site selection and evaluation, and asset management.

His prior career experience includes six years as a Managing Director with NexCore Group as well as serving as a Director with Alvarez & Marsal and in addition, he spent time earlier in his career with Hammes Company.

Emre Ozcan was named Senior Vice President and leader of the Houston office in June 2014. In that short time, his visionary management style and more than 20 years of experience has already contributed to the overall growth and development of the Houston office. His past experience has focused on the development and execution of healthcare, biopharmaceutical, institutional and commercial projects across the country with notable clients such as Baylor College of Medicine, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Rice University. After graduating from the Middle East Technical University in Turkey, Emre worked at his family’s construction firm for several years before receiving his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and Master’s degree in construction management from Northeastern University. He went on to receive his MBA from Boston College. As a dynamic and creative leader, he is actively involved in Houston’s business community and was an early adaptor of Lean construction and advanced digital construction technologies. He exemplifies entrepreneurial spirit and truly embodies JE Dunn’s values and strategies.

David Syphard

Mr. David (Dave) Syphard, Vice President – Jacobs, has a long standing background in Architecture, City & Regional Planning, and Project Finance. Dave has over 40 years’ experience in most aspects of development, design, construction, and facilities management. Throughout his career, his primary focus remains on PM/CM, Integrated Project Delivery, and Project Finance as some clients seek alternative funding strategies. Dave brings excellent insight as moderator to this panel given his strong healthcare and research facilities focus since 1999 throughout the Unites States and abroad. Over the years Dave had the privilege of working with most of the panelists, and like you, he looks forward to hearing their thoughts on the changing healthcare marketplace and its impact on facilities strategies.

Shawn Cloonan

Shawn W. Cloonan serves as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of Texas Medical Center. In his role, he is responsible for all operations, planning and development as well as oversight of legal aspects of the corporation including compliance with the TMC covenants. Prior to his current role, Cloonan was Texas Medical Center’s Executive Vice President, Planning & Development, General Counsel.

Before joining the organization in 2013, Cloonan was a public finance lawyer representing health care, governmental and higher education clients for Vinson & Elkins LLP and Bracewell LLP.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts – Magna Cum Laude in government from the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence with Honors from The University of Texas School of Law. He is on the board of directors of the Housing Corporation of Greater Houston, a member of the Community Investment Committee of the United Way of Greater Houston, and an associate member of the First Tee of Greater Houston and Houston Junior Golf Association. In 2013, Cloonan was honored to receive the Houston Business Journal 40 Under 40 Award.

Ashley has been a leader on the Transwestern Healthcare Advisory services group since 2012. Serving as Senior Vice President, she is responsible for leasing over 2.1 million square feet of a medical office building portfolio in the greater Houston area. Her portfolio includes properties in The Medical Center, Downtown, the Heights, Museum District, Upper Kirby, Bellaire, Cy-Fair, Clearlake, Pearland, Friendswood, Sugar Land, Wharton, and the Westchase area. Her deep roots in the Houston medical community allows her the opportunity to execute direct deals with some of Houston?s largest healthcare providers. Ashley is an innovator in marketing and several of her creative ideas have become national marketing standards within Transwestern.

She also specializes in Tenant Representation for hospitals, healthcare groups, and individual physicians leveraging her vast knowledge of medical real estate to accommodate the specific needs of her clients.

Ashley joined Transwestern in 2012 with six years of prior healthcare and office leasing experience.

Eric serves as national director for Transwestern’s Healthcare Advisory Services Group. He is responsible for overseeing the leasing, tenant advisory, investment sales and development for healthcare clients across the country. He has over 21 years of experience in healthcare real estate and has been consistently recognized as one of Transwestern’s top national producers. Eric has worked with a variety of institutional owners, including Baylor College of Medicine, Health Care Properties, Inc., Ventas/Lillibridge, Memorial/Hermann Hospital System, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System / CHI. Under his direct supervision, the Houston Healthcare Investment Sales Team has closed 35 medical assets totaling 1.5 Million Square Feet of hospitals, surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and general purpose medical office buildings over the past three years. The cumulative value of these sales transactions totaled over $380 million. Since 2008, Eric has completed over 500 medical brokerage and lease transactions, including such medical anchor tenants as Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson, Memorial Hermann Health System, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System, Texas Children’s Hospital, Texas Orthopedic Hospital, University of Texas Health Science Services and Kelsey Seybold Clinic. Eric’s healthcare team has preleased over 800,000 square feet of speculative medical office space in new development projects in the past five years. Eric received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Eric serves on Transwestern's National Board of Directors.

Over the past 12 years, Brandy has completed more than 800 transactions on behalf of clients such as HCP, Inc., Memorial Hermann Health System, Investcorp/Griffin, Norvin Partners and Universal Health Realty Income Trust to name a few. These transactions total over 1.5 Billion in revenue.

Beth Young is a Vice President at HGA and the Principal Architect of the Public Corporate Studio and Office Director for the Sacramento Office. She holds a bachelor’s degree of architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and has 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry. She has worked with forward thinking clients such as the State of California Department of General Services and Sutter Health. She is an advocate for collaborative project delivery and is a certified professional through the Design Build Institute of America. She is passionate about sustainability and is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction. Her design solutions are rooted in research

to help achieve her client’s goals and she is certified in Evidence Based Design. Beth is a proponent of collaborative leadership and invites differing viewpoints and appreciates team members challenging each other to do their best work. She has completed award winning projects in government, healthcare, community, corporate and workplace environments and was recently recognized by CREW for Women

Steven Smith

In the role of Senior Vice President of Development and Investments, Mr. Smith

generates national investment and development opportunities and complex acquisition

and disposition strategies for PM Realty Group. Mr. Smith additionally executes

development related initiatives and oversees the asset management function for

PMRG’s healthcare division.

Mr. Smith’s prior experience most recently includes over ten years of healthcare

development and investments with both Quorum Equities and Edge Realty Partners.

Smith came to PMRG having advised on a broad range of strategic issues, including

healthcare/commercial development, joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions and the

restructuring and divestiture of numerous assets. His assignments have included

Fortune 500 companies as well as major healthcare systems including Yahoo, Target,

Starbucks, McDonald’s, Neiman Marcus and Costco; Texas Health Resources, Baylor

Healthcare System and Tenet Healthcare Corporation, representing an aggregate

principal amount of over $1 billion.

Mr. Smith holds a dual BBA in Finance/International Business from Baylor University.

Gregg Lynch joined Rogers-O’Brien in 2014 to lead the efforts of establishing the Houston Office. With over 30 years of construction experience, he has built over 2.5 billion dollars of Healthcare, Higher Education, Corporate, Religious and Multi-Family construction projects. Gregg’s passion lies in team building, mentoring and cultivating careers that positively impact the construction industry. He received his degree in Construction Science from Kansas State University with an emphasis in Architecture and has dedicated his career to helping clients realize their objectives by safely building award-winning projects.

Gregg is firmly established in Houston and proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Houston AGC, Houston Petroleum Club and SEARCH Homeless including Chairman of the Building Committee for their new Headquarters Building and House of Tiny Treasures. He is a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church and serves with his family in the Worship Band. He is an avid sailor, golfer and fisherman.
