Marc Gordon is the founder of the Rubicon Companies, which are affiliated hospitality and real
estate investment, development, and asset management companies focused on achieving superior
returns through the hands-on application of their industry expertise. Rubicon’s team has
extensive experience in acquisition, finance, development, operations, and marketing throughout
the United States and Europe. Rubicon was recognized by The Wall Street Journal as having
acquired the Deal of the Week when it purchased the Marriott hotel at LaGuardia airport in
Queens, New York, in January 2013. Prior to founding Rubicon in 2011, Mr. Gordon was the
President and a Director of Morgans Hotel Group, a publicly traded, fully integrated hospitality
company that operates, owns, acquires and redevelops boutique hotels in gateway cities and
select resort markets worldwide and established the rapidly expanding boutique hotel sector. In
his capacity as President, Mr. Gordon oversaw all departments of MHG including operations,
marketing, development, architecture/construction/design, and finance. As a member of the
Board of Directors, Mr. Gordon was integrally involved in driving the company's strategic
direction. Mr. Gordon was the company's Chief Investment Officer and Executive Vice
President of Capital Markets since he joined the company in 2005. Mr. Gordon previously served
as a Vice President of NorthStar Capital Investment Corp., where he was responsible for the
origination, structuring and negotiation of investment and financing transactions including
NCIC's investment in MHG as well as the raising of capital for NCIC's investment activities
since joining the company in October 1997. Over the course of 14 years, virtually every
transaction that MHG was involved with was led by Mr. Gordon including every acquisition,
joint venture, management contract, renovation, and financing. Mr. Gordon's has executed
transactions in the US (New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, among
others), Europe, and the Middle East. Prior to joining NCIC, Mr. Gordon was a Vice President
in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he executed
corporate finance and strategic transactions for public and private real estate related
companies, including REITs, real estate service companies, and hospitality companies. Mr.
Gordon graduated from Dartmouth College with an A.B. in economics and also holds a Juris
Doctor from the UCLA School of Law.
