Daryl J. Carter is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Avanath Capital Management, LLC, a California-based investment firm that acquires, renovates, and operates apartment properties, with an emphasis on affordable and workforce communities. Mr. Carter directs the overall strategy and operations of the Company. Since its formation in 2008, Avanath has acquired $2.5 billion of properties in 13 states in the U.S., comprising 12,000 apartment units. Avanath is vertically integrated and is an SEC registered investment advisor and an institutional fund manager, with capabilities that include acquisition sourcing and underwriting, construction, asset management, and on-site property management.

Mr. Carter has 40 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Previously, he was an Executive Managing Director of Centerline Capital Group. Mr. Carter became part of the Centerline team when his company, Capri Capital Finance, was acquired by Centerline in 2005. Mr. Carter co-founded and served as Co-Chairman of the Capri Capital family of companies. He was instrumental in building Capri to a diversified real estate investment firm with $8 billion in real estate equity and debt investments under management. Prior to Capri, Mr. Carter was Regional Vice President at Westinghouse Credit Corporation and a Second Vice President at Continental Bank.

Mr. Carter holds a Master’s in Architecture and a Master’s in Business Administration, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan. Mr. Carter serves on the Visiting Committee of the MIT Sloan School of Management. In 2015, Mr. Carter received the MIT Sloan School Distinguished Alumni Award and served as the 2015 commencement speaker for the Sloan School MBA graduation.

Mr. Carter is a Past Chairman of the National Multifamily Housing Council. Previously, Mr. Carter served as an independent director on the boards of the following companies: Catellus Development Corporation (CDX), Silver Bay Realty Trust (SBY), and Whitestone REIT (WSR).

Real estate investment industry veteran Robert E. Hart is the founder, chief

executive, and president of Los Angeles-based TruAmerica Multifamily, a

vertically integrated multifamily investment firm with regional headquarters in

Arlington, VA; Seattle, WA and Dallas, TX.

Since its founding in 2013, TruAmerica under his leadership has become one of

the most active multifamily investors in the United States and today has

approximately $10.3 billion of assets under management. Hart is responsible for

With a career that spans nearly four decades, Bob is a recognized leader in the

multifamily industry where he contributes his time and energy as a board

member to a variety of industry organizations including the National Multifamily

Housing Council and the Urban Land Institute. Named one of the most influential

business leaders in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal, he was also

recently recognized by Real Estate Forum as the “Best of the Best Bosses” in the

real estate industry.

Understanding the value of giving back, Hart also generously gives of himself –

both in time, talent and treasure – to a wide variety of charitable and academic

organizations, raising tens of millions of dollars to better the lives of others in his

community. For nearly 16 years, half as Chairman, Bob has been a member of

the board of directors of Chrysalis, a non-profit organization dedicated to

creating a pathway for homeless and low-income individuals to find and retain

employment in Los Angeles. Recognized for his professional and philanthropic

contributions to elevate the human condition, he was celebrated by the City of

Hope in 2017 with the Spirit of Life Award. He is also the proud recipient of the

Humanitarian Leadership Award presented to him by the Alumni Association of

his alma mater Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Hart is also a member of the

Board of Trustees of the Marlborough School in Los Angeles and a member of

Board of Governors of the City of Hope.

Prior to founding TruAmerica Multifamily, Hart earned industry accolades as the

transformational chief executive of Kennedy Wilson Multifamily Management

Group, a part of the NYSE-listed Kennedy Wilson global real-estate concern. Hart

envisioned and launched Kennedy Wilson’s value-add apartment portfolio

strategy that profitably acquired and disposed of more than 20,000 units in 13

years, with a total transaction value of more than $4.5 billion.

Previously Hart was senior vice president of portfolio management for global

real estate investment management firm, Heitman Capital Management where

engineered the turn-around and disposition of a $500 million property portfolio

on behalf of pension funds, endowments and domestic and foreign lenders.

Previously, he served as Director of Real Estate Marketing for Executive Life

Insurance Company, where he was responsible for the orderly liquidation of

more than $1 billion in real estate assets and securities.

Hart is a sought-after interview by leading publications, and has been featured in

The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, Bloomberg, The Los Angeles Times

and innumerable industry and trade media outlets for his insights into the real

estate markets.

Hart holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Worcester

Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts and continues to serve his

Jaymie Beckett, a seasoned leader in real estate investments, development, and private equity, currently serves as the CEO of Housing on Merit (“HoM”). Jaymie is responsible for strategic planning, fundraising, program development, financial management, staff management and overall organizational leadership. As CEO, Jaymie plays a pivotal role in leading HoM’s organization and driving its mission forward, merging her extensive real estate experience with a heartfelt desire to tackle the affordable housing crisis. Jaymie’s career spans more than two decades, featuring roles in both institutional organizations and entrepreneurial ventures. She began her career at Deutsche Bank in Real Estate investment banking, later transitioning to a role at Related Capital, an affordable-housing financier specializing in LIHTC bond originations and tax-credit equity syndications. During her tenure at Related Capital, Jaymie focused on strategy and capital raising initiatives, playing a pivotal role in transforming the company into a more well-known, institutionally owned, publicly traded company.

Following her time at Related Capital, Jaymie attended UCLA Anderson School of Management, where she was awarded the prestigious ULI Kenneth M. Good Graduate Student Fellowship. After graduating with an MBA, Jaymie co-founded AJ Capital Partners, a real estate operating business with a focus on the hospitality sector. Under her leadership, the business completed over $500 million in acquisitions of unique hospitality assets between 2009 and 2012.

Expanding her focus beyond hospitality, Jaymie became the Head of Acquisition at Blatteis & Schnur, where she made significant contributions to retail development projects, including At Mateo in Downtown LA and the transformative redevelopment of the Macy Men’s Store in San Francisco’s Union Square.

Most recently, Jaymie founded the Calderly Group, an investment and advisory firm. Calderly created successful joint ventures in which it acquired, redeveloped, and sold a portfolio of 700 workforce housing units in Salt Lake City, in addition to consulting on various real estate projects.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Jaymie dedicates herself to her community. Her involvement with the Cedars-Sinai Board of Governors, Cayton Children’s Museum Women’s Philanthropy Circle, and UCLA REAG Endowment Circle underscores her commitment to societal betterment. She is a proud alumna of Middlebury College and UCLA Anderson School of Management. Jaymie resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters.

Shane has consistently been acknowledged as a top broker in Southern California by multiple media outlets. He has been selected as Costar’s Power Broker for multiple years, named one of Southern California’s “Hot Brokers” by Southern California Real Estate Magazine and Los Angeles Times Commercial Real Estate Visionaries twice. Shane has also built high volume producing teams in Southern California for Northmarq. Shane enjoys the entrepreneurial challenge and the personal pride of being the best.

Deborah La Franchi is the founder and CEO of SDS Capital Group. SDS is a national leader in impact investing with $1.48 billion of active assets under management in six different fund and product strategies. Ms. La Franchi founded SDS with the express vision of engaging the private sector in the battle against poverty. Each impact fund on SDS’s platform serves a different geography and employs a unique investment strategy, but they all generate positive impacts for low-income communities and people. Each fund – depending on the focus of the specific fund – either targets a risk-adjusted rate-of-return or provides capital at a below-market cost. Ms. La Franchi’s core role is to ensure each fund is supported by a team with the key expertise needed to execute the specific investment strategy. Ms. La Franchi leads the structuring of each fund’s investment strategy, spearheads fundraising, oversees the senior managers of each fund and division, and participates on each fund’s investment committee.

Outside of her work with SDS, Ms. La Franchi is the founder and board chair of Sustainable Communities Fund, which provides capital for small and micro loans to low-income and diverse entrepreneurs. Ms. La Franchi also is on the UCLA Ziman Affordable Housing Advisory Council (AHAC). Before founding SDS, she served as Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan’s Assistant Deputy Mayor for Economic Development; she then went on to serve as the first CEO of Genesis LA, which launched the Genesis Family of Funds. She is a former director for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater L.A. and Secretary and Director of the National New Market Tax Credit Coalition.

Gary Bechtel served as President of Money360 and was responsible for developing and executing Money360’s expansion strategy. Gary also served on Money360’s Credit Committee and Board of Directors. Prior to joining the Company, he was Chief Lending/Originations Officer of CU Business Partners, LLC, the nation’s largest credit union service organization (CUSO). Natalie Reider joined Jamboree in 2015 as Director of Community Impact to lead the expansion of resident services, a vital part of developing affordable housing that’s a platform for community change. She forged partnerships with cities and nonprofits to grow existing programs and implemented a Community Needs Assessment to better focus services.

As Vice President, Natalie oversees a team of 30+ onsite staff, including Community Impact managers, Resident Services and Community Engagement Coordinators at Jamboree properties. She leads the ongoing development and delivery of service programs that are responsive to the specific needs of a given community and gives oversight to quantifying the impact of these services in the lives of Jamboree residents. Since coming to Jamboree, Natalie and her team have made a shift in the planning and delivery of services via innovative Community Collaboratives. She works with Jamboree’s housing development team to identify and bring together a nexus of local community partners to offer customized services available not only to Jamboree residents, but surrounding neighborhoods as well.

Previously, Natalie served as Senior Vice President for National CORE, an affordable housing developer in Southern California. There she was responsible for operations of its social service nonprofit, the Hope Through Housing Foundation, where she developed and managed outcome-driven programming initiatives.

Natalie believes in the power of strong partnerships as they allow diverse perspectives and innovative thinking to occur. They offer the ability to leverage the best of people, ideas and resources in one organization with the best in another organization, leading to greater outcomes.

With a young, active daughter, Natalie and her husband enjoy getting outdoors at the park, beach, or local playgrounds. They also vacation with friends and family around the country. He worked in corporate strategy at Edison International, developing an understanding of the energy landscape and multifamily's important role in decarbonizing the built space. From 2006-2012, Johnson was a vice president in the Commercial Real Estate Banking group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Determined to find and execute on opportunistic real estate opportunities, Scott Gale formed Ventus Group (“Ventus”) in 2006. From 2007-2013, Scott acquired nine distressed properties from various banks and builders. The acquired assets, located through California and Oregon, included semi-improved single-family lots, subdivisions and master-planned communities, as well as retail, office and industrial buildings. All but one of those properties were sold between 2012-2015.

Through 2012, Ventus also entitled, managed and/or consulted on several residential, retail and hotel projects/assets owned by third-parties (national homebuilders, market analysts, and private developers). The company’s consulting activities included entitlements processing, cash flow analysis, market research, and project management.

Since 2014, Ventus has dedicated its efforts solely to The Fig. During this period, Scott and his team assembled more than eight contiguous acres in a prime Los Angeles location, all along advancing the design, analysis, and entitlements for The Fig- a 4.42-acre mixed-use development (hotel, residential, retail).

Prior to forming Ventus Group, Scott served as Vice President of Land Acquisition at Shea Homes where he acquired 3,146 residential lots (attached and detached) throughout Southern California. Before Shea Homes, Scott was a Project Manager at Woodside Homes, where he was responsible for design team coordination, entitlements processing, horizontal development purchasing, as well as sales/construction support.

Scott also served as a Senior Consultant in the Real Estate Capital Markets at Ernst & Young Kenneth Leventhal. There, Scott analyzed and supported large real estate transactions, including asset and company sales, as well as capital procurement and due diligence.

in Los Angeles. Focused on the infill and refill of cities and towns, his efforts

His work on the Pacific Center Campus in Southern California received the 2017 American Architecture Award and the 2016 Best Project for Office/Retail/Mixed Use from ENR’s California’s Best Projects.

He is currently serving on the Historic Resource Board of the City of San Diego. Situated on a hilltop that provides 360-degree views of the city, Silva is the first institutional grade multifamily asset of its size delivered in the Silver Lake/Echo Park neighborhoods /// Belle on Bev (completed 2024): Belle on Bev is a 243-unit mixed-use project in Los Angeles’ Historic Filipinotown (HiFi) featuring modern apartments stylized with art deco design inspired by the area’s cultural and musical influence /// Apollo (under construction):  Apollo is a 265-unit community in Los Angeles’ South Bay. Slated to complete in 2025, the transit-oriented developed is located in a high-growth area of the South Bay near major tech, automotive and aerospace employers, including SpaceX, the Tesla Design Center and Ring.

Hines - West Edge: West Edge is a transformative, transit-oriented, mixed-use development situated within the creative heart of West Los Angeles. Opened in 2023, the property is West Los Angeles' preeminent live, work, play, destination. The project offers 217,000 square feet of creative office space with private landscaped terraces over five floors; 600 luxury apartments—known as The Residences at West Edge—with numerous on-site amenities; 80,000 square feet of curated retail including Gelson’s; and a vibrant one-half-acre open-air plaza with al fresco dining. The 4.8-acre site is the former home of the Martin Cadillac dealership and sits less than one block from the Expo/Bundy Metro station. It’s located within half a mile of the 10 Freeway and within one mile of the 405 freeway, with close proximity to Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Westwood, and Culver City.

The Michaels Organization - Jordan Downs: Redevelopment of an outdated 1950s-era low-rise public housing development in the Watts neighborhood of LA, in a coordinated partnership with HACLA. When fully completed, the revitalized neighborhood will offer over 1,500 new affordable and market-rate housing units, in addition to all new roads and infrastructure, including the new Century Blvd. The redeveloped community will also include a neighborhood retail center, ground-floor commercial and amenity spaces, a large community center, and nine acres of new parks throughout the center of the community, as well as job opportunities for residents and childcare options. New Harvest = 135 apartment homes in sixteen buildings. Oak Terrace = A six-story mixed-use building with 92 affordable apartments and ground floor commerical and community space. Sky = 81-apartment affordable housing community. Additional phases are in development. 

IntracorpAurum:  A new modern community of 178 apartments with best-in-class amenities including a rooftop entertainment pavilion, pool, and spa.  Located at 2055 Main Street, Irvine /// Gable House:  A new, mixed-use residential and retail development in with 218 units, amenities focused on living well, including Skydeck with pool lounge & fitness center.  Located at 22501 Hawthorne Boulevard, Torrance

Primestor’s mixed-use developments integrate quality residential units and  best in class retail destinations /// Norwalk Entertainment District & The Walk Residences: Norwalk Entertainment District (NED) is a public private partnership with the City of  Norwalk whereby Primestor is developing 80,000 square feet of retail alongside 370  units of quality rental housing, including 56 Affordable units for low income and  homeless Veterans and their families. The Affordable is financed using 4% tax  credits, tax exempt bonds, and commitments from local and state government.  NED will o4er a range in unit sizes from one to three bedrooms, general open space,  programming and supportive services /// Santa Fe Springs - Phases I and II: Primestor is developing 120 units of Affordable and permanent supportive housing  on 2+ acres in the City of Santa Fe Springs. Both phases are currently in predevelopment and set to secure tax  credits and start construction in the next 18 months /// The Lofts at Firestone: Firestone Lofts is a 76-unit development in the City of Norwalk proposed on 1.3  acres. The project is designed as factory built modular housing with highly e4icient  studio, one- and two-bedroom units. Residents residing in this property will be low  income and homeless households. It will be financed using local and state  proceeds and federal funds through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program.  Adjacent to the residential property is a large retail transformation project along  historic Front Street /// Lynwood Mixed Use Development: Primestor is developing a mixed-use property on 4.5 acres in the City of Lynwood.  The site is a brownfield development bound by Fernwood Avenue, Alameda Avenue  and E. Imperial Hwy. Once completed, the property will feature a mix of retail and  housing options including: 15,000 of new community serving shops and restaurants with onsite parking. o 54 A4ordable rental units for low income and homeless households. Jamboree Housing - Estrella Springs: Just completed, 89 unit motel conversion in Santa Ana for individuals and veterans coming from homelessness /// 101 East Pacific Coast Highway Long Beach: New deal in the pipeline, As part of the 2022-2023 round of funding, Jamboree Housing Corporation will receive $13.5 million for The 101. The project, named for its address at 101 E. Pacific Coast Highway, will include 52 one- and two-bedroom apartments above parking for 20 vehicles /// L.A. County affordable housing developments awarded $83M

Torti Gallas + Partners - The Village at Montclair: at the city’s Metrolink Station contains approximately 350 units and supportive retail on a 6 1/3-acre site. Currently under construction, it is expected to be delivered March 2025 /// State Street Village: on the site of the defunct Redlands Mall, just 1 ½ blocks from the city’s new Arrow commuter rail station.
