Chris’ role sits across our architecture, master planning, interior design and workplace consultancy functions.

Chris strongly considers that diverse and equitable workplaces and communities hold the key to tackling key issues such as climate change and land degradation.

Chris’ approach to sustainable and healthy architecture targets high-performing building fabric, passive ventilation, maximised on-site renewables and biodiversity gains, whilst using interior design principles to hardwire out poor practices and to influence sustainable and healthy behaviours. However, Chris’ main passion is the provenance of the materials that we specify, and that our clients and communities use - and ensuring that these are environmentally and socially responsible. In this way, Chris works closely with our supply chains and designers to achieve this and believes that clear communications on materiality helps create a sustainable culture.

Why This CRE Events Matters

Almost half of the world’s largest real estate investors, who own or control more than $1.2T of property, have no target to reduce the carbon emissions from their portfolios. Yet, according to Lockton, a survey conducted by CBRE with over 500 real estate professionals shows that occupiers are much more likely than investors to reject a building if it lacks ESG features, suggesting that demand for buildings with strong ESG credentials is going to outstrip supply shortly over time. Between confusion over policy, certifications, consumer demands and overall processes, Bisnow's ESG Summit will strive to unpack the regulatory environment, economic strategies, conversations with clients, and distinctions between retrofitting old buildings for the better — in addition to creating innovative, sustainable new spaces for London's future.

What You'll Learn:

  • What challenges do real estate companies face when balancing the short-term pressures of profitability with long-term sustainability goals?

  • How are today's sustainable projects currently being financed? How are lenders and investors assessing ESG-related risks?

  • How are companies using data to track and improve upon carbon strategy? How can tenants and real estate better communicate to meet everyone's ESG targets?

  • How do developers and operators best integrate sustainability into development whilst managing ESG-related expenses?

  • What strategies can be employed to future-proof Class-A buildings against evolving ESG standards and regulations?

  • What are the primary motivations for retrofitting and upgrading commercial buildings, and how do these benefits compare to constructing new buildings?

Who You'll Meet: London's top policymakers, advocates for sustainability, developers, owners and investors embracing ESG integration and implementation.
