Mr. Aryas joined Tishman Speyer in 2012 to help establish our business in Turkey. In 2015, Mr. Aryas moved to London to pursue acquisitions across European markets where Tishman Speyer did not already have a presence. In his role, Mr. Aryas has explored acquisition opportunities in Madrid, Milan, Amsterdam, Dublin and London, recently closing the firm’s first deal in Madrid in 15 years. Prior to joining Tishman Speyer, Mr. Aryas was the General Manager of Biodenta Turkey, a Swiss headquartered, healthcare and real estate start-up. He also previously worked at DCM as Manager of their Ottoman Fund, and Lehman Brothers in their New York and Los Angeles Global Real Estate Investment Banking Group. Mr. Aryas is a member of the Urban Land Institute and graduated from Tulane University with a BS in Management.

Lauren is a Partner in the Real Estate team. She co-heads Taylor Wessing's life sciences real estate sector and sits on the ULI life science & healthcare council. Lauren’s recent experience includes advising life sciences occupiers in respect of their property portfolios, including lab and office space. Lauren has led on landmark transactions in the UK and advises on all matters related to commercial real estate; specialising in investment and development, and advising corporate occupiers.

As Chief Executive Officer of Europe, based in London, Paul leads the expansion of Harrison Street’s European strategies and is responsible for overseeing and growing the Firm’s team of professionals across the UK and Europe. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Paul was most recently President and Chief Operating Officer at Round Hill Capital, a real estate investment and asset management firm with a global footprint. While at Round Hill Capital, he managed a business with a $8+ billion portfolio as well as a team of 260 people across 15 offices in 14 countries. He has overseen investment and development projects, regulatory approvals, complex refinancings and capital raises in multiple European locations across a wide array of real estate asset sectors including retail, commercial, residential and student housing. Prior to joining Round Hill, Paul served as a Partner at Aggmore Group, where he was responsible for raising and deploying over €500 million of new capital and developed JV partnerships with European operators in the residential and commercial real estate space. Earlier he served as Chief Operating Officer at North Bridge Capital Partners Ltd. he began his career at KPMG LLP as a senior manager in the transaction services department. Paul earned a BA in Accounting and Financial Analysis from Newcastle University. he is ACA qualified and is a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Rob has over 30 years’ experience in the real estate industry and is one of the co-founders of Clearbell Capital. As Managing Partner, he is responsible for developing new business and deal origination. Rob is a member of the Investment Committee and also chairs the ESG Committee. Rob previously founded Hawthorne West in 2006. He also worked as an investment broker at Nelson Bakewell Ltd (now Capita), as a founding partner of SG Commercial LLP and at niche London advisors Daniel Watney LLP. Outside of Clearbell, Rob serves on the Court of the Clothworkers’ Livery Company, with a focus on the Company’s London property portfolio.

Tim leads the science business area, across the UKIMEA region for Arup. He leads on strategy and

business development, maintains relationships with clients and manages a portfolio of projects.

Tim is a chartered engineer and experienced team leader, having led multi-discipline teams in

delivering engineering solutions on complex highly serviced buildings from concept design phases

through to fully coordinated detail design and construction.

He has been involved in science buildings from his first project over 28 years ago, working on the

design and construction of a facility to produce injectable vaccines. As well as other manufacturing

projects experience, Tim has been involved in the design of many research and development

laboratories for a range of science users and scales of project. These have been for private clients,

government institutes and higher education establishments.

Tim thrives in solving client’s challenges bringing a wealth of experience to provide robust, energy

efficient and sustainable design solutions, applying his knowledge of construction, commissioning

and maintenance.

Gary is passionate about bridging the boundaries between academic research, teaching and practice across many sectors, with sustainability at the core of his architectural philosophy.

Based in HOK’s London Studio, Gary brings a wealth of design expertise and an architectural portfolio that includes high-performance buildings across multiple sectors, including higher education, and commercial.

With a career spanning over three decades, Gary has worked for some of the UK’s most highly respected architectural practices on significant projects such as The Wellcome Trust Headquarters in London, the Jubilee Campus for Nottingham University and, more recently, the award-winning and highly ambitious Gasholders London residential apartments for King’s Cross Central Ltd. Partnership. He is currently overseeing several high-profile research buildings and sustainability projects for the HOK London Studio, most notably The University of Glasgow Interdisciplinary Research Hub among others.

Gary serves as a visiting professor of sustainable architecture at Queens University Belfast and frequently advises the UK Government on sustainable policy. He is also Chair of the Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) Sustainable Futures Group. Gary has helped shape the organisation’s Declaration of Environment and Climate Emergency, the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge and a suite of new sustainability guidance to support the RIBA Plan of Work.

As head of Mace’s Life Sciences Construction business, Rob leads on large-scale, award-winning projects including AstraZeneca’s global R&D Centre in Cambridge, St Bartholomew’s and London Hospitals and Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing capability. Most recently developers Oxford University and investor L&G appointed Rob to deliver two new buildings at Begbroke Science park.

Rob works closely with multidisciplinary project teams and the science community to deliver pioneering facilities that enable clients to compete for the best researchers, scientists, and funding.

Sage Revell holds the position of Counsel in Brown Rudnick’s Corporate Practice Group and a member of the firm’s Global Life Sciences Practice Group. She advises on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including national and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private equity, corporate re-organisations, and other general commercial matters. Sage works closely with Brown Rudnick’s US offices as corporate counsel in transactions involving UK concerns.

In January 2021, Sage was published in the Global University Venturing 2020 Annual Review with her article “Life sciences in the time of Covid-19 and its impact on the real estate sector”.

Toby has been with BioCity since 2011 and had a number of roles before becoming CEO at the beginning of 2019. Toby is recognised as a leader in the use of ‘lean start-up’ methodologies to support early stage opportunities in life sciences and healthcare. He has been a driving force behind the shaping and systemization of the acceleration and incubation activities at BioCity, as well as directly overseeing the growth of the property side of the business. He is passionate about supporting start-up companies and creating vibrant innovation ecosystems.

Kasia Averall joined Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult in November 2016, tasked with establishing the pharmaceutical quality system for the new multiproduct, multi-collaborator ATMP manufacturing center in Stevenage, UK. The facility was successfully licensed by the UK MHRA in August 2018, and Kasia now leads the quality assurance team supporting a variety of cell and gene therapy manufacturers. Before joining Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, Kasia worked in both quality assurance and regulatory affairs over a range of dosage forms. She has a degree in natural sciences (biological) from the University of Cambridge.

Andrew Purcell, Global Head of Real Estate for Syngenta with over 30 years experience in Property. Previous roles have included European and Global roles with BP and Honeywell. Working at Board level to set real estate strategy to modernise and maximum real estate to support business strategies. Away from Real Estate Andrew is a father of two sons aged 11 and 13 who keep him active and challenged.

Mr. Matthew Powers is the CEO of Nan Fung Life Sciences Real Estate where he leads the company strategy to providently address the unmet needs of the Life Science Industry by delivering best-in-class real estate solutions to vital innovation clusters. Prior to launching NFLSRE, Mr. Powers has over 25 years of experience working for large biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in strategy, supply, operations and real estate positions. Mr. Powers made a very successful transition as a leader of life science brokerage at JLL in 2015, where he leveraged his prior experiences to be a strategic advisor to organizations across the full spectrum of the life science industry as well as geographical markets.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Powers held a hybrid role as Head of Real Estate and Infrastructure Operations as well as Strategy Program Manager for Merck Millipore’s Biosciences Division. He led the company’s real estate strategy and transaction management, responsible for a portfolio of six million square feet across 41 locations. In 2006, Mr. Powers established Chimera Management, a real estate solutions service provider to biotech and life sciences organizations. Earlier in his career, Mr. Powers enjoyed the fortuity of working for venerated biotech pillars Genzyme and Genetics Institute, the latter being acquired by the pharmaceutical giant Wyeth during his tenure.

Judith is Head Life Sciences Switzerland at Drees & Sommer. Since 5 years she is leading a team focusing on large scale construction projects for clients in the Life Sciences industry. Planning state-of-the art laboratory, production and office buildings is her expertise. One of her largest projects was the pRED Center for Roche in Basel where she was in charge of the laboratory planning. Judith worked 10 years in different roles for Syngenta before coming to Drees & Sommer.

James Spence is a partner in Goodwin’s real estate team. James has a broad range of experience in domestic and cross-border real estate investments and M&A transactions, with a focus on operational real estate assets and businesses.

James is also a leading member of Goodwin’s PropSci practice Steering Committee, which is focused on supporting the intersection of real estate and life sciences through thoughtful collaboration across the two practice areas. As a key contributor to the Steering Committee, James stays up to date on relevant market trends impacting the life sciences real estate sector to effectively support clients involved in this space. James is also involved in Goodwin’s PropTech initiative, which focuses on the intersection of real estate and technology.

Justin’s previous career experience as a scientific researcher provides him with unique

knowledge and insight while informing his design work. In his role as a Sciences Leader, he

brings his singular perspective to projects ranging from laboratory strategy and change-

management consultancy to the design of scientific campuses and headquarters. An award-

winning designer, Justin is particularly interested in creating the best possible environments to

support the work of today’s scientists. He is also the past President of the U.K. Chapter of the

American Institute of Architects and is an active member in Gensler’s global network, through

which he facilitates the exchange of knowledge and best practices throughout the firm.
