Peter is leading a programme for the redevelopment of the Guy’s and St Thomas’ campuses and community facilities in Lambeth and Southwark, with a combined capital value of more than £2bn over the next decade. Until November 2017 he was the Director of Healthcare Projects for John Laing, a leading international investor in economic and social infrastructure which delivered more than 20 major healthcare Public-Private Partnership projects and over 40 clinics and primary care facilities during his time there.

He has worked on the development of public infrastructure since 1989 and has substantial experience in the successful structuring and delivery of a diverse range of project financing, PPP and development projects in the healthcare, water and transportation sectors in the UK and overseas. Since 2001 he has managed the development of healthcare projects with a capital value exceeding £2bn.

Peter is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and has served two full terms as a Non-Executive Director of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He also led the development of a UN standard for the use of PPP in the healthcare sector for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and remains a member of the United Nations PPP Business Advisory Board.

Araminta is the Director of Campus Development at Cambridge University Health Partners (CUHP). Araminta works across CUHP and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus to develop the community and strategic relationships, while also promoting future expansion of the site in partnership with Liberty Property Trust and Countryside Properties.

Araminta joined CUHP from the University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine, where she developed new collaborations across academia, the NHS and industry as Research Initiatives Manager. Prior to this, she held an NIHR Research Fellowship at the Institute of Cancer Research, London, initiating a clinical trial in breast cancer risk and developing novel MRI technology. Araminta has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bath.

Richard brings over 17 years’ investment track record, having transacted in excess of £2 billion in UK real estate. Richard’s primary responsibility is expansion of the Knowledge Factory portfolio and asset management, utilising his strong network of contacts with UK institutions, property companies, occupiers and brokers.

Glenn Crocker is an experienced CEO, company founder, non-executive director and investor in the

life sciences sector. He was founding CEO of BioCity Group from mid-2003, becoming Chairman at

the start of 2019, when he also took on the role of Head of Life Sciences at the global real estate

advisers, JLL. In April 2021 BioCity was acquired by Trinity Investment Management and a new

company, We Are Pioneer Group Ltd (WAPG) was created, of which Glenn is a director and co-

owner. He has a DPhil in Immunology from Oxford University and qualified as a chartered

accountant with EY, working with biotech companies in Palo Alto, California and Cambridge, UK,

where he headed up the UK Biotech practice for EY.

Glenn runs the Ventures arm of BioCity Group (now WAPG) and has co-founded, invested in and

exited many successful life science companies.

He is a non-executive director of BDD, BioAscent Discovery, Alderley Park Ventures and the UK

Science Parks Association and a governor of Trent College.

In 2014 Glenn received an MBE for services to the biotechnology industry.

Gary is passionate about bridging the boundaries between academic research, teaching and practice across many sectors, with sustainability at the core of his architectural philosophy.

Based in HOK’s London Studio, Gary brings a wealth of design expertise and an architectural portfolio that includes high-performance buildings across multiple sectors, including higher education, and commercial.

With a career spanning over three decades, Gary has worked for some of the UK’s most highly respected architectural practices on significant projects such as The Wellcome Trust Headquarters in London, the Jubilee Campus for Nottingham University and, more recently, the award-winning and highly ambitious Gasholders London residential apartments for King’s Cross Central Ltd. Partnership. He is currently overseeing several high-profile research buildings and sustainability projects for the HOK London Studio, most notably The University of Glasgow Interdisciplinary Research Hub among others.

Gary serves as a visiting professor of sustainable architecture at Queens University Belfast and frequently advises the UK Government on sustainable policy. He is also Chair of the Royal Institute of British Architects’ (RIBA) Sustainable Futures Group. Gary has helped shape the organisation’s Declaration of Environment and Climate Emergency, the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge and a suite of new sustainability guidance to support the RIBA Plan of Work.

Dr Kath Mackay is Director of Life Sciences for Bruntwood SciTech - the UK’s leading property provider dedicated to driving the growth of the UK science and technology sector. She has a keen interest in growing the life science industry, and businesses and infrastructure within the sector, ensuring the UK is the best place to establish and scale a life science organisation.

As Director of Life Sciences, Kath is responsible for developing the life science vision and strategy for Bruntwood SciTech, external affairs, and developing sector specific innovation services and investment support for the life sciences business across our network of campuses. Kath also oversees Alderley Park - the UK’s largest single- site life science campus - the new £310m Birmingham Health Innovation Campus, and Citylabs in Manchester, the world-leading health innovation and precision medicine campus in partnership with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Kath joined Bruntwood SciTech from the executive board of Innovate UK where she led the team responsible for growing and scaling businesses working in the biomedical, health, agriculture and food sectors, creating and delivering a £700m portfolio of infrastructure, Catapults, grant and loan investments. Kath is also Non-Executive Director of the Northern Health Science Alliance, the North of England’s health partnership, UKRI’s National Biofilms Innovation Centre, and Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership.

Jamie is the Head of Commercial at Alderley Park, the UK’s largest single site bioscience campus, where he leads the commercial team leasing laboratory and office space to businesses in the lifescience, technology and innovation sectors. He is a chartered surveyor who has spent the last 11 years working in the North West office and lab markets. Prior to joining Alderley Park he worked at a multinational property consultancy advising landlords on leasing workspace on some of the region’s leading schemes and latterly for tenants, including FTSE 100 businesses, on their workspace acquisitions. Recently he was involved in the establishment of the Lighthouse Lab at Alderley Park.

As chief executive of ULI Europe, Lisette van Doorn is  responsible for the development of the Institute’s activities across the region, including its renowned pan-European conferences and over 250 local meetings and events across 14 countries. She is also responsible for the ULI Charitable Trust, which raises money to advance ULI’s mission and philanthropic activities across Europe.

Van Doorn joined ULI from LIRE, her own consultancy business, which advises international institutional real estate investors and fund managers on strategy, organisational optimisation and portfolio structuring.

Prior to this, van Doorn was country manager for CBRE Global Investors where she managed a €1.6bn portfolio of assets in Italy and fund manager of two shopping centre funds (€ 1.3 billion) with assets in Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Before joining CBRE Global Investors, van Doorn was founding chief executive for INREV, the European association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles for four and a half years. She started her career at ING Investment Management, where she held account manager and assistant controller positions before being made managing director of research & strategy for ING Real Estate Investment Management Europe.

Tim leads the science business area, across the UKIMEA region for Arup. He leads on strategy and

business development, maintains relationships with clients and manages a portfolio of projects.

Tim is a chartered engineer and experienced team leader, having led multi-discipline teams in

delivering engineering solutions on complex highly serviced buildings from concept design phases

through to fully coordinated detail design and construction.

He has been involved in science buildings from his first project over 28 years ago, working on the

design and construction of a facility to produce injectable vaccines. As well as other manufacturing

projects experience, Tim has been involved in the design of many research and development

laboratories for a range of science users and scales of project. These have been for private clients,

government institutes and higher education establishments.

Tim thrives in solving client’s challenges bringing a wealth of experience to provide robust, energy

efficient and sustainable design solutions, applying his knowledge of construction, commissioning

and maintenance.

Stephen Frood is a chartered surveyor and a partner in G&T’s Manchester office. He has over thirty years of experience working in the construction and property sector in the North West region of the country, and has been involved in many of the key projects undertaken in the region over this period. He has recent experience delivering buildings specifically targeted at the science and research sector in Manchester and understands what is required in these buildings to make them adaptable and flexible for a wide range of sector tenants. Stephen is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has degrees in both Quantity Surveying and Project Management.

Oliver is a Partner of Hawkins\Brown and one of the leading architects working in the Science and Technology sector. His experience ranges from state-of-the-art research institutes through to speculative facilities for developers. He thrives on the variety and challenge that the sector offers. Oliver’s contribution to the wider industry includes active membership and participation in several organisations, including as Chair of Designers for Science which promotes best practice and emerging trends in the sector.

Ron Bernstein is a Managing Director in the Real Estate Group at Blackstone. Mr. Bernstein oversees two of Blackstone’s US Core+ vehicles, as the Head of Blackstone Property Partners U.S. and Blackstone Property Partners Life Sciences. Since joining Blackstone in 2016, Mr. Bernstein has played a key role in the asset management and oversight of several investments, including BioMed Realty and International Market Centers.

Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr. Bernstein was a Managing Principal at Great Spruce Capital Partners, an investment and development company that he founded. Prior to Great Spruce, Mr. Bernstein spent over 8 years at Marathon Asset Management where he was a Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of the Marathon Real Estate Group. Previously, Mr. Bernstein spent over 8 years as a principal investor at Goldman Sachs in its Real Estate Principal Investments Area/Whitehall Funds.

Mr. Bernstein received a BA from Northwestern University, where he graduated from the Honors Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences, with a double major in Economics.

William Kane has served as our Executive Vice President, East Coast & U.K. Markets since January 2019. For over 20 years, he has served in various leasing and development capacities in Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Prior to joining BioMed in October 2008, he was responsible for the development of R&D, hospital, and office real estate development projects for the Fallon Company, Davis Marcus Partners, Lyme Properties, and Turner Construction. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Tufts University and Master of Business Administration Degree and Master of Science Degree from Boston University.

Bill currently lives with his wife and four children in Marblehead, MA.

Candice leads our Healthcare and Life Science Real Estate team advising on Hospitals (NHS and Private), Care Homes, GP polyclinics, and lab facilities throughout the UK. She specialises in large scale investment and development transactions acting for the private and public sectors. She has acted regularly on repeat investment from US REITS, international Private Equity investors and UK pension funds, on complex UK cross border real estate acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, institutional investments, and urban regeneration mixed use developments.
