Will has a passion for building communities and supporting them to thrive. He joined RVG in 2019 to pursue a new strategy of urban, socially connected, community building.

Prior to RVG, Will was Executive Director at Grosvenor, where he was responsible for the London Estate. He is currently a Trustee of the Blenheim Palace Estate and a Board and Steering Group member of ARCO (the Association of Retirement Community Operators).

Away from work Will spends most of his time in nature and is particularly interested in helping wildlife to flourish, starting with rewilding his home farm in Kent.

Nick Sanderson is CEO of Audley Group the UK’s largest developer and operator of luxury retirement villages. In the 1980’s with Dr Andrew MacDonald he founded, operated and then sold Beaumont Healthcare, one of the first corporate providers of private pay

nursing care homes. In 1986, that company created close care housing which

offered independent living to older people in their own homes adjacent to a

Beaumont care home. After 5 years of public/private partnerships, in the early nineties he created Audley to develop a portfolio of private retirement villages. Retirement villages

offer independent living to older people in purchased homes with flexible care

and support to allow them to stay in place throughout their life. The first two award winning schemes in Tunbridge Wells and Harrogate were completed by 2004. In 2008 he formed a partnership with Moorfield Group. Audley now has 21 schemes in its programme with nearly 2500 units with a GDV approaching £1bn. The company has over 3000 customers and over

900 staff. Mayfield Villages was launched to provide the Audley offer at a more affordable price and the first village of 255 apartments was opened in Watford in December 2022.

The Group is multi award winning. Nick is Chairman and a founding member of the Associated Retirement Community Operators and a member of the Steering Group. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and a contributor to several publications. He has acted as an advisor to both the public and private sector.

Honor is the CEO of Birchgrove, a specialist age-exclusive developer working to establish a portfolio of assisted living neighbourhoods with well thought-out facilities for rent. Central to Birchgrove's proposition is the belief that renting instead of owning a home is the most liberating form of tenure, allowing neighbours to retain their independence without the burden of

homeownership. Birchgrove has a bunch of happy neighbours in Sidcup in Kent and two neighbourhoods in Woking and Ewell, both in Surrey. Following closely behind are Banstead, Godalming, Leatherhead - all in Surrey - and most recently Chiswick, Hampton Court and Old Isleworth in London. Honor is happiest in the company of older people and this has nothing to do with the amount of Victoria Sandwich or good chat on offer.

Basil is managing partner of FORE, a pan-European social impact real estate investor and

developer set up by Jeff Skoll, the billionaire co-founder of Ebay, to invest in property and

drive positive social and environmental impacts.

FORE is a family office, and now invests the money of more than a dozen wealthy

individuals and families from around the world, who share a commitment to sustainability

and social value. FORE is one of a very small group of UK social impact real estate

investors – and is active in London and key regional cities including Manchester and

Glasgow, as well as Germany.

FORE’s main focus is on offices, transforming outdated buildings into modern workspaces

that cater for the next generation of occupiers, with a rigorous focus on carbon reduction and

positive social impact.

Recently completed projects include Windmill Green, the most sustainable new office

building in Manchester. FORE is also bringing forward two sustainable offices in Glasgow as

well as TBC, a major new project at Tower Bridge, in London.

Samantha has over 20 years of experience in the Healthcare and Senior Living sectors, specialising in a wide range of facilities including care homes, retirement villages, medical centres, and hospitals. She advises institutional, corporate and private investors primarily in the UK, offering consultancy, transactional services and demographic analysis and research on market needs for healthcare developments. Samantha frequently presents at conferences and contributes to various industry publications and is a co-author of the RICS Information Paper on the Valuation of Independent Healthcare Properties in the UK. She has held key roles, including Chair of the RICS Trade Related Valuation Group, and is a Fellow of the RICS. Recently, she was appointed to the Board of Women in Retirement Living (WiRL) and contributed to the recent APPG Housing and Care for Older People – The Regeneration of Outdated Sheltered Housing and KTP on Age-inclusive design principles: Pioneering a new standard for later living.

Gary joined Audley Group in 2020 as CFO, bringing a strategic focus on financial efficiency,

securing new debt facilities, and establishing new joint venture partnerships to support

continuing growth.

In 2022, he was appointed COO, while retaining his CFO responsibilities, and expanded his

remit to include Operations and People. Since stepping into the dual role, Gary has led a

transformation of Audley’s operating model to enhance operational efficiency and elevate

customer experience.

With over 25 years of international experience, Gary has built a diverse and impactful career

across multiple sectors having held various senior finance, treasury and board level

positions. His early career included roles at Arthur Andersen, where he qualified as an

accountant, and Hewlett Packard, where he qualified in Treasury.  Gary holds degrees in

both Architecture and Management.

James co-leads Clifford Chance's Retirement Living Group and is the firm's representative for ARCO. He specialises in advising both domestic and international clients on complex real estate matters, including property development, direct and indirect investment acquisitions and disposals, real estate finance, corporate transactions, joint ventures and landlord and tenant work. James has broad experience advising clients on their investments in real estate assets, both traditional and alternative asset classes and is currently developing the firm’s focus on integrated retirement communities.

Under Jamie’s leadership, Inspired Villages has grown to become an award-winning operator and developer of vibrant, sustainable and connected communities. With nine operational villages, including the UK’s first Net Zero Integrated Retirement Community, Millfield Green, Inspired also boats a healthy pipeline to fulfil its plan to deliver 34 retirement communities supporting over 8,000 residents. Inspired is committed to challenging the perceptions of what later living means with gym-going residents reducing their biological age by 9.1 years on average and increasing their strength by over 14.6% - living more healthy years and leading the charge to fundamentally change the way our population ages.

Paula brings over 30 years’ experience in management, commissioning and development roles responding to the needs of older and more vulnerable. Responsible for creating a number of thought leading public private partnerships, developing products and services designed through the customers eyes. Paula has delivered largescale change projects in the public sector as well as large scale regeneration partnership

Shirley worked for The ExtraCare Charitable Trust for 9 years leading their renowned wellbeing programme. She developed a new wellbeing assessment on an app for residents in conjunction with Aston University, and before that, the British Heart Foundation, where she led their ‘Hearty Lives’ programme – which aimed to address obesity and inequalities for younger people. She joined Retirement Villages Group in the new position of Head of Care and Wellbeing in 2022, with a focus on overseeing the existing external care service available at some of the villages, as well as reviewing RVG’s wellbeing offer.

Teresa has over 30 years’ experience in specialist housing covering Operational Management, Business Development, Commissioning and Development/Delivery of both new build and remodelling of Supported Housing projects and brings her passion for 'fit for purpose' design and specification for appropriate Later Living housing solutions.

Scott Orr is Investment Director for Untold Living, a newly-launched developer and operator of high-quality later living communities backed by Matter Real Estate. Scott has worked in real estate finance for over 20 years, including a near-seven-year tenure as Corporate Development Director at HC-One, which he helped grow to the UK's largest care home operator. Earlier this year, Untold Living acquired Chantry Court, a mixed-tenure retirement village in Westbury, Wiltshire, along with two further schemes which are about to commence development. The firm is actively seeking additional sites across the UK for acquisition and development. Scott is playing a leading role in rapidly building Untold Living's pipeline of later living communities in which residents can live happily, healthily, independently and with the peace of mind that comes from living in a fully supportive environment.

Rob has been with rg+p for over 25 years and has been intrinsic in building upon the practice’s early work in Later Living, Care and Extra Care projects. Rob leads a team of over 80 professionals, designing and delivering projects across all areas of Later Living and has been at the forefront of new design and product development for clients including Riverstone, McCarthy and Stone, Housing 21, ExtraCare Charitable Trust and Midland Heart. Rob has experience across all development tenure models and market levels and is currently involved in research for new Later Living typologies.

Kyle heads our Health and Social Care Team. He is a real estate projects lawyer focused on the intersection between accommodation and health and social care provision. Kyle has worked across a wide range of healthcare real estate based transactions involving investors, operators, the private and public sectors, from IRCs to private hospitals to care homes to accommodation and other services and settings for working age people with disabilities. He also assists clients on contracting structures and models relating to service delivery, particularly in care home and domiciliary care settings. Kyle is a leading authority and regular speaker and writer on retirement sector, particularly in relation to event fee models and the regulatory regimes that underpin them. He has contributed to many conferences and thought leadership pieces in this area, including through Trowers & Hamlins role as Strategic Partners to ARCO.

Julienne is Professor Emerita of Nursing: Care for Older People at City, University of London, with Visiting Professorships at University of Hertfordshire and Ulster University. Since retirement in 2019, in addition to her on-going research commitments, Julienne has worked as an Associate of the Kings Fund co-leading the ‘Care Home, Housing, Health and Social Care: Learning Network’ and, together with Rt Hon Paul Burstow and Sir David Pearson CBE, she co-chaired the ‘SCIE Commission on the Role of Housing on the Future of Care and Support’. She is a Non-Executive Director for Elizabeth Finn Homes Ltd and Trustee for My Home Life Charity and The Whiteley Homes Trust. In April 2023, she was appointed by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the Department of Health and Social Care as Chair to the Older People’s Housing Taskforce. Drawing on her skills as a former registered nurse and qualified teacher, she uses collaborative approaches to bring about whole systems change and reflect on the lessons learnt from attempts to improve practice. Her style of working is evidence-based, relationship-centred, appreciative, and

action-oriented. She has enjoyed working in a variety of different settings (health and social care; general and mental health; primary, secondary, and tertiary care) and across a number of traditional boundaries (public and private; policy and practice; research and education). Best known for her work with care homes, she was one of the co-founders of My Home Life (MHL), a collaborative initiative to promote quality of life for those who live, die, visit and work in care homes for older people. The success of My Home Life can be seen through its spread across the UK, Australia and Germany. In 2020, she created a registered charity to help support the work of My Home Life partners (www.myhomelifecharity.org.uk).

Her expertise in aged care has long been recognized internationally. She was Vice Chair of the Global Ageing Network (international network of leaders in ageing services, housing, research, technology and design) and has held Adjunct Professorships in Australia (University of South Australia, Griffiths University, Federation University Australia) and America (University of Wisconsin-Madison). In 2015, Julienne was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s New Year honours for contribution to Nursing and Care for Older People and was named by the University of London as one of their 150 leading women (1868-2018).

Martin has spent the last 15 years as a Chief Executive of Campus Living Villages and InvoCare, both in Australia. Martin brings to Riverstone a wealth of relevant experience and a proven track record in delivering transformational change. He has a passion for delivering exceptional customer service in businesses where caring for customers is key, and in recognition of this he helped establish a culture of ‘commercial with a heart’.

Catherine co-heads the Addleshaw Goddard Living Sector team and is a London- based Real Estate Partner. Catherine advises on a broad range of residential led real estate transactions for privately owned development companies/entrepreneurs to PLCs and household names acting for developers, investors funders and end users on complex mixed use developments and she has particular experience acting for all stakeholders in Later Living schemes.
