Mark is a Chartered Engineer and leads the Development side of the Packaged Living business. He is an experienced and recognised developer who has worked on over 3000 BtR homes during a career spanning over 20 years. Mark was formerly Director of Development at Grainger plc, where he spent 10 years helping source and create the UK’s leading residential investment platform.

Michela leads the development business in the UK. She focuses on overseeing execution of current projects including financing, amenity and unit planning, design, entitlements, construction and lease up efforts on multifamily and student developments. In addition, Michela is helping to secure a pipeline of 10,000 units in the next 3-4 years. She is currently Vice Chairman of the Urban Land Institute’s UK Residential Council, a member of the British Property Federation (BPF) Build to Rent Committee and a board member, treasurer and chair of the events and marketing committee of the United Kingdom Apartment Association (UKAA).

Get Living

As Head of Design for Get Living, John provides strategic and project specific briefing for Get Living's development pipeline, targeting the creation of 12,000 further homes within the next five years. Strategic design issues include achieving Net Zero Carbon development, whilst meeting residents' needs, adapting to future trends, and enabling the efficient use of resources over the lifetime of the building or asset.

Since joining Get Living in 2018, John has contributed to the design of new homes and neighbourhoods in East Village (the former London 2012 Athletes' Village), New Maker Yards at Middlewood Locks in Greater Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Lewisham.

John is a registered architect. Prior to Get Living, John acted as project architect on the delivery of PRS homes for great estates clients in Chelsea and Marylebone, as well as commercial office space in London's Covent Garden. John also contributed to "Concrete; a study design guide" by Prof Michael Stacey (RIBA Publishing 2011), whilst working for the Manufacturing Architecture Research Centre at London Metropolitan University.

Dan Batterton head of the Build to Rent Fund at LGIM Real Assets responsible for the design and execution of fund strategy.

Dan has over 20+ years’ experience in the property sector and his exceptional understanding of portfolio strategy have been utilised to design L&G’s long-term acquisition and operational strategy for the sector. He leads the specialist BTR team at L&G that is currently delivering around 5,000 new BTR homes.

Joining Legal & General in February 2007 as Business Development Manager, Dan’s responsibility was to create new fund ideas and identify areas of business growth within LGP.

Previously Dan was an Associate Director at IPD Ltd where he was responsible for the UK portfolio analysis service to a collection of major institutions. He spent 9 years at IPD analysing drivers of historic fund performance and discussing strategies that will influence future returns. Whilst at IPD he also developed IRIS, IPD’s forward looking income and risk analysis service.

Nico van der Merwe

Nico has worked at Schneider Electric for over 12 years, taking up the role of Vice President of Home & Distribution in 2019. Throughout the years, Nico has been in charge of Schneider Electric’s Channel Development for Europe, playing a vital role in formulating and leading strategic transformational projects.

Nico is currently responsible for ensuring that Schneider Electric’s portfolio of smart devices, sensors and energy management solutions are front of mind with electricians, home builders and contractors. Nico brings his ability to create high performing teams, enable business transformation and encourage entrepreneurial thinking to his role. With homes becoming increasingly connected and the spotlight on the inefficiencies of UK housing stock becoming a great focus in the battle to halt climate change, Nico believes that smart technologies such as Wiser will have a large role to play in creating truly connected and efficient homes. The electrical demand in the residential is the fastest growing segment in years to come and Nico believes that Schneider Electric already have the technologies and relevant channels to bring forth these solutions from the Grid to the Plug.

Nicholas is CEO at David Phillips, a business he joined in 2005 and has grown to be a £50m market-leader – David Phillips is the leading specialist supplier of furnishing services to the UK property market. David Phillips is a Fast Track 100 and CityAM Leap 100 company and has twice been voted the Furniture Company of the Year. In 2021 David Phillips is launching Re:Lease, an innovative affordable, sustainable furniture rental business, joining the emerging circular economy marketplace. In his earlier career, Nick spent 15 years as an investment banker for JP Morgan and Rothschild in London, Latin America and New York.

Claire is a qualified architect, a WELL AP, a BREEAM AP, and an experienced sustainability consultant with over 15 years of experience delivering challenging projects and promoting sustainability strategies in private, public and PFI sectors with a focus on regeneration and health and wellbeing.

Claire collaborates with clients such as British Land, U+I, Moda Living, Clarion and CALA Homes to create sustainability and health and wellbeing strategies that deliver long-term value. Claire sits on the Better Places for People Residential Health and Wellbeing Working Group, a World Green Building Council initiative. She is a JLL Platinum Award winner.
