Gin Braverman

Hospitality Design

Gin Design Group

Gin Braverman is the founder and creative director of gin design group, an award-winning Houston-based interior design with a national portfolio spanning hospitality, commercial, lifestyle, wellness, residential, public space, and creative retail environments. Her multidisciplinary foundation began with a degree in History from The University of Texas at Austin and expanded through studies in fashion, photography, graphic design, and interior design in New York and abroad. Early work in film and television production, including set design in New York City and a lead designer role on HGTV’s first full-home remodel show, Home Rules, shaped her instinct for storytelling, atmosphere, pace, and performance within built environments.

Gin’s path to interior design has been global, hands-on, and deeply material. In Taipei, she began formal work in the field through an internship with MLD, an international commercial design firm, after months of shadowing designers and absorbing the process from the ground up. Returning to Houston, she apprenticed at Installations Antiques, where she spent years learning specialized finishes, antique restoration, metalwork, wood finishes, custom lighting, and furniture fabrication. That combination of cinematic thinking, international perspective, and workshop-level craft became the backbone of her design approach: layered, emotive, tactile spaces that tell the stories of the people, brands, food, and communities behind them.

Since launching her practice, Gin has helped shape Houston’s hospitality scene and built a portfolio that includes more than 150 bars and restaurants, along with projects in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, New Orleans, New Canaan, and Tampa. Her team’s work has been recognized in publications including The New York Times, Architectural Digest, GQ, Texas Monthly, Wallpaper*, Hospitality Design, Interior Design Magazine, PaperCity 40 under 40-sih, Houston Chronicle, and Robb Report.

In 2020 Gin founded GEWL Procure, an in-house sourcing and procurement studio specializing in custom hospitality FF&A.

Beyond the studio, she remains active in Houston’s arts and philanthropic community, including serving on the board of the Houston Center for Photography, Chairing the 2025 HCP Print Auction and recently chairing the Empty Bowls fundraiser benefiting

Houston Food Bank.

Why You Should Attend This 2026 Houston Retail & Mixed-Use Event

What We'll Cover:

  • How leasing strategies, rent growth, and capital flows are playing out in a true landlord’s market, including what it takes to get a deal done today, how far rents can go with construction and labor costs where they are, and what lenders now expect on preleasing, risk and returns.

  • How mixed-use districts are being designed and financed across both urban core and outer-ring locations, from MPCs where retail in isolation is harder to justify, to projects where a meaningful mix of uses, walkability and “third places” is essential for demand, performance and long-term value.

  • How owners and operators are reimagining aging assets, lifestyle centers and B & C product, and what current repositioning and leasing strategies reveal about staying power, operating expenses, and how to make deals pencil in a tighter financing environment.

  • The rise of experience-driven anchors and culturally specific concepts—restaurants as entertainment anchors, fitness and wellness, community-focused third places—and how they shape merchandising strategy, tenant selection, and proof of staying power in a market where not everything that works in Dallas works in Houston.

  • How limited new supply, rising labor costs, “wild west” zoning, and evolving tenant demand are influencing site selection, cap rates, underwriting assumptions and the future of live-work-play environments across Greater Houston’s retail and mixed-use landscape

How You'll Do More Business: Join Bisnow for an in-depth look at the forces reshaping retail and mixed-use across Greater Houston, from a true landlord’s market and tougher financing conditions to the mixed-use, live-work-play environments tenants are prioritizing. This event connects the dots between tenant demand, merchandising and asset management, and explores how experience-driven anchors, walkable third places and constrained new supply are influencing rents, site selection, capital stacks and long-term value. Bisnow brings together the region’s top owners, developers, investors, lenders and retail operators to uncover which concepts actually work in Houston, how complex projects are getting financed and leased in today’s environment, including creative tools such as city participation and PACE financing, and what it takes to create resilient, high-performing retail and mixed-use destinations across the metro.

Who You'll Meet:

  • Owners and developers of retail and mixed-use projects across Greater Houston

  • Retailers, restaurateurs, entertainment concepts and experiential operators expanding or optimizing their footprints

  • Institutional and private equity investors, lenders and capital providers active in Houston retail

  • Leasing, asset management and property management leaders focused on merchandising, activation and NOI

  • Brokers, tenant reps and site-selection teams tracking retailer demand and emerging trade areas

Why You Should Attend: Bisnow events convene the most influential leaders in retail and mixed-use to identify opportunities, build meaningful connections, and drive business growth across Greater Houston. With the largest audience of commercial real estate professionals in the world, Bisnow delivers unmatched access to the people, projects, and insights shaping the region’s retail landscape, from infill repositionings to large-scale suburban destinations. Join us for a focused look at Houston’s retail and mixed-use market and the leasing, capital, and placemaking strategies defining its next phase of growth.
