Our commitment to your safety

We have experienced the enthusiasm of returning to live in-person events this year, having safely and successfully hosted more than 10,000 executives to date. While we are thrilled to convene together to propel growth within CRE, COVID-19 remains a worldwide concern and Bisnow is committed to practicing safe protocols at our events. You can expect the following:

  • In accordance with CDC guidelines, we are recommending that all participants wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Masks will be made available at the door.

  • Temperature checks will be conducted at entry.

  • Attendance at the event will be capped and no tickets will be sold at the door.

  • Contact tracing procedures will be employed for any reported exposure.

  • Socially distanced seating will be available in the main event space.

  • Enhanced sanitization protocols will be adhered to throughout the event space including regularly disinfecting surfaces throughout the event and hand sanitizer provided to all attendees.

Laurie Baker is responsible for the oversight and strategy of Camden's Portfolio Operations, as well as Asset Management, Sustainability, Revenue and Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Marketing, and Camden's customer experience. During her time with Camden, Laurie has held several roles, including Senior Vice President of Fund & Asset Management, and has been responsible for Camden's reposition and redevelopment program totaling more than $900 million in property improvements. Laurie has a deep understanding of the multifamily industry, evolving customer preferences, and driving transformational change.

Before joining Camden in 1999, Laurie was Vice President at Walden Residential Properties and spent nine years at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Laurie is an officer on the National Multifamily Housing Council's Executive Committee. She is a member and former chair of ULI's Multifamily Bronze Council, and a ULI Global Governing Trustee. She serves on the boards of Camp For All and Texas A&M's Master of Real Estate Program. Laurie is an ongoing guest lecturer for George Washington University's Master of Real Estate Investment Institute. She is past President of CREW Network and CREW Houston and was recognized four times by Real Estate Forum as a Women of Influence. Laurie received her MBA in Finance from George Washington University and a BBA from Sam Houston State University.

Stan Levy

Morgan Group

Stan Levy serves as Chief Operating Officer of MORGAN. Stan’s responsibilities include arranging debt and equity financing, managing the property disposition process, and asset management oversight for all of MORGAN’s assets. Stan serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and Investment Committee. Stan has closed over $3.0 billion of transactions for MORGAN.

Stan was one of the founding executive officers of Cadence Bancorporation, where he was integrally involved in a startup that raised $1.0 billion in equity and subsequently acquired several banks and has grown to $18 billion in assets across a six-state region. Stan began his career at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he worked for 15 years and served as Managing Director of Real Estate & Lodging Investment Banking for the Southern Region.

Stan graduated with honors from The University of Texas with a BBA in Finance. Stan serves as a director of the Holocaust Museum Houston Foundation and previously served as a director of Hines Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc., advisory director of Cadence Bancorp LLC, and as an Executive Committee board member for The Emery/Weiner School. Stan is a past President of the Board of The Shlenker School in Houston. He is an active member of the National Multi-Housing Council.

Stacy Hunt

Greystar

Stacy has been with Greystar and its predecessor firm since 1982 and is currently

responsible for national client relations and new business pursuit for the

company’s 670,000 unit domestic management operation. Since joining Greystar,

Mr. Hunt has helped build the firm’s management portfolio through the opening of

regional offices in Arizona, Florida and additional offices in Texas. Stacy is a

member of the National Apartment Association, the National Multi Housing Council

joint legislative committee, the board of directors of the Houston Apartment Association and the

Westchase District, Treasurer of the Better Government Fund of the Houston Apartment Association

and is a licensed Texas broker. He also served as president of the Houston Apartment Association in

1992 and the Texas Apartment Association in 1998. In 1973 Stacy earned a bachelor’s degree in finance

from the University of Texas.

Mr. Hunt has witnessed the firm’s growth from 2,000 units to its current ranking as the largest

apartment manager in the United States, with more than 670,000 units in 43 states. Greystar also

manages approximately 24,650 units in China, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain

and the United Kingdom. The company’s owned portfolio consists of over 51,000 units including 87

properties under construction and 31 stabilized properties in markets across the US.

Mr. Hunt is based in Houston, Texas, and the Greystar corporate office is located in Charleston, South

Carolina.

Barvin

As founder, chairman, and CEO of Barvin, Eric is responsible for the strategic planning

and growth of the company and maintains oversight over all aspects of Barvin. Eric

believes that the company’s commitment to an evergreen business strategy allows

Barvin to make long term commitments, thereby helping to attract and retain the best

talent in the industry.

Eric received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in international studies and economics from

Emory University. After graduating in 2007, he began his career as a real estate analyst

in mortgage banking. In 2009, Eric founded Barvin Group, LLC to acquire multifamily

communities. He has spent the past 10 years building a company that’s committed to

going above and beyond for our team members, residents and partners. Today Barvin

owns and develops communities in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.

Eric is a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council, Houston Apartment

Association and the Urban Land Institute. Eric and his family live in Houston, Texas.

Patrick Dennis

Patrick is Hammes Healthcare’s Regional Vice President for the Southwest. Patrick brings nearly 30 years of experience planning and delivering complex projects. He excels in programming and preconstruction, having spent the entirety of his career in the construction industry, including 10 years with JE Dunn. Patrick is a process-oriented leader who seeks to continually implement best practices and lessons learned to produce successful projects. He has a passion for utilizing data in the planning and decision-making process and has developed industry-leading analysis tools to measure and maintain project budgets, schedules, and overall execution.

Michael Preiss

Michael Preiss, P.E. established the Houston office of Pape-Dawson Engineers and has driven its growth. A managing principal of one of Texas’ largest civil engineering firms, Michael’s experience and influence spans the Houston region where he leads transformational infrastructure projects, working with local agencies, such as Harris County, Harris County Flood Control District, the City of Houston, and the Texas Department of Transportation. Serving the commercial real estate industry for 23 years, he has overseen surveying and civil site design of numerous Houston multi-family projects, including Barvin’s Blackwell Med Center, Allen Harrison’s Boone Manor, Bridgewood’s Village of Southampton, and Aspen Heights Houston. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University and remains active with his alma mater as a member of the Dean’s Council. He volunteers his time and expertise to many industry organizations, including the Urban Land Institute and American Council of Engineering Companies, and has served as Board President for the Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District 159 since 2004.

Matt Shafiezadeh is the founder of Urban Genesis, a real estate investment and

development company with acute strategies tied to advancing affordability across multiple

product classes. Since its founding in 2013, Matt has grown Urban Genesis to $1.4 billion

of AUM.

Prior to Urban Genesis, Matt was a senior investment officer at Lionstone Investments

where he sourced over $2.0 billion of commercial real estate assets across the

country. Matt also spent time at both Highland Capital Management and Lazard Freres &

Co on Distressed Investments and M&A/Restructuring. He graduated in finance from the

University of Texas at Austin in 2007.

Robert Martinez

After founding Rockstar Capital in March 2011, Robert has since directed the growth of Rockstar Capital’s managed portfolio to 21 apartment communities with a total of 3,762 rental units. Since 2011, he has directed the underwriting, acquisition, and management of 30 apartment communities consisting of more than 5,243 rental units. On top of running an award-winning business, Robert holds an Engineering Degree from Texas A&M and is the only person to have won the National Apartment Association Independent Rental Owner of the Year twice. Robert shares a passion for soccer with his two boys, Ryan and Conner, and enjoys supporting their daily efforts in local club soccer.

Chris Yuko is the Managing Director of Development – Southern Region at Marquette Companies. He has been with the company for 4 years and has 22 years of experience in development. In his role at Marquette, Chris is responsible for directing and overseeing development efforts in the Southern Region. He manages the development life cycle from site identification to capitalization, construction, and asset stabilization. Chris has a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Wake Forest University School of Business. Before joining Marquette, Chris was Principal of Strategy & Operations at Slalom Consulting.

Erick Ragni

A highly regarded, award-winning architect with over 30 years experience, Erick

Ragni has worked with a number of the most recognized firms in the country.

Ragni has a keen sense of innovation, particularly in assignments with complexity.

Ragni received his Bachelor’s Degree in Art History and Fine Art from the

University of Vermont. His interest in architecture led him to Columbia University,

where he attended design studio classes. He received his Graduate Degree from

Southern California Institute of Architecture. His design career began in the

office of Frank O Gehry & Associates, where he was involved in two of the most

famous architectural works of the 20th Century—the Disney Concert Hall and the

Guggenheim Museum.

Ragni moved to Houston upon being awarded the prestigious Wortham Teaching

Fellowship from Rice University, while working with Rey de la Reza Architects. He

briefly relocated to San Francisco where he worked on large-scale Pacific Rim

projects in the office of Hellmuth Obata + Kassabaum. Ragni spent four years as

a senior associate with Lauren Rottet of DMJM Rottet and Rottet Studio, helping

establish the brand in the Houston market. During his tenure with Rottet, he and

Mayfield established a close working relationship that culminated in the creation

of MaRS in 2010.

Ken Mendez

Ken Mendez started in the built environment solutions in 1996, and has worked in several capacities in the Architecture & Design industry. Gaining expertise from a multitude of teams and manufacturers, he has served as a District Account Manager for both Kimball and Teknion, then moving on to Vice President of Sales for both Office Pavilion, and Workplace Solutions. For three years, Ken was the Regional Director for Knoll for the Houston Region. He currently utilizes his expertise in the multifamily market at Division Six and CORE Office Interiors in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. His bold approach puts people, process, and technology at the forefront of his go-to-market strategy. Ken excels at his job because of the care and growth he provides for his clients and employees to maximize their potential and ensure they each have the solutions and tools they need to succeed.
