His leadership responsibilities include business development, strategic planning, healthcare service line development, hospital syndication, hospital administration, public relations, marketing, physician relations & recruiting, staff development in for-profit and not-for-profit markets. Known as the “Doc-Whisperer”, his strengths in organizational leadership, business development, creative visioning, and problem-solving has resulted in a consistent track record of exceeding goals and objectives. Santiago also served in the US Army during Desert Storm and still shares his time to help other Veterans transition from active service into the civilian sector by helping them find jobs. During her 20 years of practice, Rebecca has been dedicated to the planning, design and management of healthcare projects, with a passion and expertise in behavioral health spaces, oncology and support services departments, such as labs and pharmacies. Her portfolio includes more than 6 million SF of facilities, from small renovations and community hospitals to specialty medical centers and research facilities.

Brendon F Buckley is a Healthcare systems subject matter expert focused on leveraging

technology to improve the delivery of care and operational efficiency. His involvement

spans throughout the project starting from the very early stages such as the planning,

design & bidding through to commissioning and testing of the Healthcare systems.

Brendon is also a key contributor to the JCI’s patented “Navigator” process and has

successfully utilized it on numerous successful projects.

His experience in technology integration and related IT systems is extensive. Brendon is

proficient in HL7, DICOM, SQL Databases, .NET, Webservices and has worked with

numerous EMR, PACS systems including GE, Siemens, Cerner, Epic and Meditech. He

also has experience working with integration platforms including Intelligent Insites,

Connexall, Cloverleaf, Openlink, and Mirth. Brendon also specializes in Internal IT

Infrastructure, Wireless Network Technology and Open Network Environments.

His current responsibilities include developing offerings that help Johnson Controls’

Healthcare clients reduce costs; improve both patient care and satisfaction.

Dr. Velamuri, M.D. is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who has served on process improvement, health informatics and patient safety committees at numerous large hospitals in and around the greater Houston area. He was named lead hospitalist at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM)- Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) on the sepsis committee, was appointed the 2018 Sepsis Champion for HCA-Houston and has served as the Medical Director of Kindred Hospitals Houston which is a Fortune 500 company. He is an active board member at the Texas Medical Center Sepsis Collaborative.

He has worked as a hospitalist taking care of patients in internal medicine for heart, lung, liver transplant and LVADs at CHI- St. Luke’s- Houston (Baylor College of Medicine) prior to transitioning to HCA- Houston. He has been a guest speaker for GHSHRM ‘19 (Greater Houston society for Healthcare Risk Management), the FBI’s Biotechnology Security Summit ‘19, HIMSS Houston educational session on sepsis workflow ’19, University of Berkley Cal Hacks for COVID panel ’20, Keynote speaker for Stanford University’s Hack from Home healthcare innovation hackathon ’20, Phoenix Award recipient HTX ‘20.

Dr. Velamuri is an advisor to the TMC Innovation center companies– a partner with the US Department of Health and Human Services in their BARDA-led initiative to stop sepsis. He mentors, invests and advises companies; serves as a SME for investment firms and healthcare systems internationally in the biotech space apart from serving on non-profit boards. He is driven to bring innovation to Hospitals in order decrease unnecessary suffering of patients as President and CEO of Luminare, Inc. His work with Luminare was awarded “Most Promising Web & IT Company” in the US by the Rice Alliance for Web & IT and is a part of the Texas Medical Center’s Innovation Institute (TMCx).

Luminare also built and deployed Quickscreen to 5MM people in Houston during the COVID crises for self-assessment and been used over 1,000,000 times in over 500 organizations, and partnered with the CDC on their software to stop sepsis in hospitals. Their solution is also being used to deploy the COVID vaccine in partnership with cities and has done over 1 million doses.

Dr.Velamuri completed medical school at the St.Petersburg Medical University of Pavlov where he wrote a textbook chapter on neuroanatomy, done research on ischemic preconditioning of the brain & heart and research on adult bone-marrow derived stem-cell research on decreasing stroke and myocardial infarction. Internal Medicine residency at BCM Houston. He lives in Houston, speaks 5 languages and for fun likes to bike or be at a beach or out in the woods.

Preston joined McCarthy Building Companies in 2013 and is currently Vice President for the Houston Division of McCarthy Building Companies. Leveraging his expertise, Preston focuses on maintaining and growing McCarthy’s healthcare, research and higher education presence in the Houston area as well as other key markets. Preston is a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Houston, AGC Construction Futures Committee, American Society of Healthcare Engineers, American Hospital Association, has served on the AGC Construction Leadership Council Board, and is currently serving as a board member on the Champions for Children Texas Children’s Cancer Center Board. Furthermore, his passion for the community has led to his involvement with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Texas Children’s Hospital and the American Heart Association. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University. In addition, Preston is a designated Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) and holds a Healthcare Construction Certificate.

An architectural graduate of the University of Southern California, Jill spent the majority of her

career in healthcare facility planning, the final 22 years at Texas Children’s Hospital guiding the

development of over $2B of work and adding over 5M square feet. Jill is a licensed architect in

Texas and California and holds a certificate from the National Council of Architectural

Registration Boards (NCARB).

Karen Mooney is the Associate Vice President of Facilities Planning, Design and Construction department at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Her team manages strategic facilities planning for the organization as well as the implementation of a multi-billion capital construction program. Karen graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Construction Management and received her MBA from UT Tyler.

As managing principal, Tushar strategically leverages EYP’s business development, operations

and design teams to optimize performance across all aspects of the regional business. He

strives to grow the Houston office and collaborate with local staff to enhance the firm’s presence

among Texas health systems, universities, the architectural and engineering industry, and our

community.

Tushar is also an award-winning Designer specializing in healthcare. He has committed his

design talent and passion toward creating a new generation of health facilities— empathetic,

life-enhancing environments. An inspiring leader, he influences the profession nationally,

shaping the discourse on design for health.

He joined the firm in 2000 as a Tradewell Fellow , a national level fellowship offered by EYP in

healthcare design and planning. He was recognized in Building Design + Construction

Magazine 40 under 40, as well as Houston Business Journal 40 Under 40. He was elevated to

the American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows in 2019. Most recently, Tushar was

honored with Texas A&M University’s College of Architecture Outstanding Alumni Award.

Marissa is a Director of Facilities and Construction Projects at Houston Methodist Hospital since 2016. In

this role, she oversees master planning efforts as well as design, construction and activation of large and

small capital improvement projects for Houston Methodist’s Sugar Land, Clear Lake and Cypress

Campuses. Focused on the healthcare sector for essentially her entire career, Marissa consistently

pursuits her mission to build innovative environments that nurture healing for patients, visitors and staff

alike. Her capability to bridge the various clinical programs, institutional levels and geographic settings

reflect her ability to uniquely respond to the needs of each community. Marissa obtained her Bachelor’s

degree in Architecture from the University of Panama, and her Master’s Degree in Construction

Management from Texas A&M University, College Station. She is a licensed Architect in the State of

Texas, a Certified Construction Manager, a Certified Energy Manager, and a LEED Accredited

Professional. Prior to joining Houston Methodist Hospital, Marissa’s career included assignments with

ExxonMobil in the Woodlands Campus, and Jacobs in the Metropolitan Houston area. In her spare time,

Marissa enjoys watching her kids play sports, home improvement projects, long walks, and the

occasional round of golf.

With two decades of experience in the construction industry, Preston Cope has established himself as a leader in delivering complex, large-scale healthcare projects. For the past 18 years, Preston has been an integral part of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., dedicating his expertise to the construction of over three million square feet of healthcare facilities. These projects, which encompass more than 900 beds, have a combined value exceeding $1.6 billion.

Currently serving as a Vice President of Operations in McCarthy's Houston Business Unit, Preston oversees staffing, project costs, schedules, quality, and safety. His commitment to excellence ensures that every project meets the highest standards of performance and client satisfaction.

Aneetha McLellan leads and drives innovation for the Interwoven brand. With over 20+ years of design knowledge, innovative strategies, and methodologies in Health, Aneetha professes a belief in empathy as a key to fueling design thinking. Aneetha previously was Director of Interior Architecture and Global Healthcare Leader for two of the largest architectural companies leading the vision and design concepts for Health. Her work and designs are spread around the world with institutions such as Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, New York Presbyterian, and Kaiser Permanente. She has achievements for her designs and continues to speak on thought-leadership trends. While leading the charge on a global scale, Aneetha helped several manufacturers in the development of signature health projects that also received numerous awards.

Anthony Standley creates human-centric healthcare environments with a bold approach, passionate team, and a unique technology-driven process. During his 16-year career, he has had the opportunity to work on both sides of the industry as a designer at Page/ and as a healthcare specialist in contract furniture. His special relationship with his mother, who was a nurse at Ben Taub Hospital, drives his knowledge and understanding of the needs of all of the heroes who work and visit our healthcare environments. Noel J. Cárdenas is the Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Hermann Southeast and

Pearland Hospitals. Prior to assuming his current position, Noel serve as the Vice President Operations/Chief

Operating Officer at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Humble Texas. Noel is a native of Weslaco, Texas. He

is a retired combat veteran having served over 30 years in the Texas National Guard and the U.S. Army and retired

at the rank of Colonel. He holds numerous military and civilian awards and recognition including Two Legion of

Merits, Three Bronze Stars, and the Army Surgeon General’s “A” professional proficiency designator in Healthcare

Noel and his wife, Cristela “Cristi” R. Cárdenas, reside in Kingwood, Texas and they have been married for 30 years.

They have three children Andrew C. Cárdenas, 26, attending Angelo State University’s Doctorate of Physical

Therapy Program, Kristian N. Cárdenas, 24, graduate of the University of North Texas, and Noah T. Cárdenas, 22, a

senior at Texas A&M University majoring in Construction Science.

Noel has enjoyed his transition from military service as he continues his career in healthcare. He especially enjoys

serving the people in the Southeast Houston and Pearland Communities. Noel feels his personal values are well

aligned with those of Memorial Hermann as his primary focuses are on people, patient safety, high reliability and

Gaurav Khadse (GK) is a Registered Architect with 18 years’ experience in design and construction of healthcare facilities. Gaurav holds the position of Vice President, Facilities Planning & Development and Real Estate at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). In his position, he leads the facilities project management, program management and planning team responsible for expansion of strategic facilities expansion projects, capital projects and renovations at Texas Children’s. His team is currently handling projects in various stages of design and construction with project costs over a billion dollars including the expansion of Texas Children’s new campus in Austin.

Gaurav has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Architecture from Texas A&M University with a specialization in Health Systems and Design. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in India. He is licensed in Texas and also a LEED accredited professional.

Phil is a highly experienced healthcare planner with a strong focus on the implementation of proven principles that result from the application of acknowledged best practices and Evidence Based Design. By recognizing the importance that Evidence Based Design and best practices have on patient care as well as facility design and operation, Phil provides counsel to healthcare facility owners on the impact of emerging research and developing trends. With an ability to balance the significance of current needs with future flexibility makes Phil an important resource in the planning and early stages of project development.

Cory Burkhalter is Vice President | Principal of O’Donnell/Snider’s Healthcare | Research Division. He has over 29 years of experience leading the safe and successful management of all aspects of healthcare construction including invasive hospital renovations/expansions/additions, diagnostic/imaging centers, medical office and clinical buildouts, and laboratory/ research facilities.

Monique Salas, MPP, is the North American Director of Health & Wellness at SageGlass. In her role, she focuses on the impact Saint-Gobain SageGlass bears in Healthcare spaces. She has a rich history in the Pharmaceutical Industry and Healthcare Tech space. Monique is passionate about design that incorporates health & wellness as she has a strong belief that it uman performance. Ms. Hall is our Senior Vice President – Leasing & Physician Strategy. From joining the company in 2016 until January 2021, she was our Vice President – Leasing.

In this role, Hall leads the Company’s leasing strategy and execution business for its health care real estate portfolio, spanning nearly 270 properties in 36 states with over 14 million in gross leasable area. Hall built the leasing division of the Company from the ground up during her tenure to utilize state of the art technology for leasing processes and procedures. Her team has increased occupancy steadily for the DOC portfolio to over 96% occupied, the highest occupancy in the health care REIT sector. In the face of changing market conditions, Hall and her team have more than tripled the leasing activity during numerous hospital mergers, sales, and consolidations.

As a seasoned leader, Hall has more than 15 years of diversified strategic leasing and management experience in real estate, including the office, retail, industrial, and medical office sectors for both public and private companies. She is experienced in partnering with senior executive teams and the Board of Directors to execute strategic and tactical initiatives focused on performance and operational improvements to increase occupancy and maximize revenue in high growth and challenging environments.

From 2006 to 2016, Hall was the Vice President of Office Properties at CBRE, a global leader in commercial real estate. Ashley serves as Vice President of NewQuest’s Healthcare Real Estate division specializing in

medical sector development and tenant representation. NewQuest is a full service commercial real

square feet has been exclusively dedicated to medical use. Leading this division, Ashley’s focus is

Throughout her career, Ashley has negotiated over 7 million square feet in real estate transactions in

campuses. As healthcare has moved into the neighborhood, similar projects have become the

Justin has been with Transwestern since 2007 and specializes in providing real estate solutions within this niche space to investors, developers, end users and VC firms. His expertise in leasing, investment services, development, construction and asset management, allows him to apply a holistic lens to any real estate opportunity, resulting in optimal outcomes for Transwestern clients

Kelly is the Managing Director for Construction Services for the South Zone.

In this role, she is responsible for the Construction Services Group which includes

brokerage, account executives and surety.

Prior to joining Aon, Kelly held various roles at AIG. Her experience at AIG included

executive roles for excess casualty, running the energy and construction platforms

for Canada, Bermuda and the US. In her last role, she served as the domestic

technical underwriting executive for the whole of the excess casualty portfolio. Kelly

also held roles as the regional casualty executive, marketing roles and various

underwriting roles in excess casualty and Directors and Officers Liability.

Kelly began working in the industry in 1996 through various internships and entry

level roles with Liberty Mutual, AIG, Aon and Travelers.

Kelly works on a diverse set of contractors including, civil, commercial, mechanical,

industrial, residential (single family and multi-family) and trades. She has worked on

Owner Controlled Insurance Programs and Contractor Controlled Insurance

Programs. Kelly enjoys the contractual intricacies that are found throughout the

contracting industry and has lectured on them for several different seminars

throughout the country. Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor for several

semesters for the University of Houston Downtown.

John Peloquin’s career spans more than 20 years of achievement in successfully building and leading behavioral healthcare organizations.

During the late 1990s, as Chief Administrative Officer/Director of Operations for Vital Imaging, Mr. Peloquin developed and executed organizational growth initiatives, including strategic partnerships and alliances to expand preventive medical treatment throughout the western United States.

He then became Division President of CRC Health Group, one of the nation’s largest behavioral healthcare providers. He joined the firm in 2004 and was responsible for multiple service lines integrally involved with the growth of company facilities which included a portfolio of premium and low-cost residential facilities treating substance abuse, mental health, eating disorders, and providing an array of ancillary services. A Bain Capital sponsored company, CRC was sold to Acadia Healthcare in 2015 for $1.3B. At that time, this deal constituted the largest organizational sale in the history of the behavioral healthcare field.

Mr. Peloquin was named Division President for Acadia Healthcare, heading up Acadia’s national outpatient division, charged with servicing more than 58,000 patients per day across 27 states. In this capacity, he helped the division to nearly double in size through acquisition, de novo, and organic growth methods. As a result, the organization became the national market leader in medication-assisted treatment.

After great success improving clinical and organizational systems at Acadia Healthcare, Mr. Peloquin became Chief Executive Officer of Cliffside Malibu, a network of evidence-based addiction treatment centers located in Malibu, California. In 2018, he facilitated the merger of Cliffside Malibu with Center of Discovery, resulting in the formation of Discovery Behavioral Health where he currently serves as our President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Peloquin is married with three children and lives with his family in San Diego. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Finance and a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences.

Jim leads our health program in the central United States and is one of our senior thought leaders in healthcare architecture. He has been working as an architect in healthcare for almost 25 years. Throughout his career, he has designed significant projects for numerous clients including University Medical Centers, Non-Profit Hospitals, Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and specifically with Kaiser Permanente, Mayo Clinic, among other prominent hospitals. He was worked in all aspects design and delivery methodologies for health facilities, inclusive of early contractor involvement, integrated project delivery, private public partnership, and developer led outpatient care facilities and health oriented development. His experience in these design and delivery procurement methods has been garnered all over the United States, Canada, and the Middle East.

Jim works collaboratively with design teams and stakeholders to ensure that all new and existing facilities address the challenges of new patterns in healthcare operations and practice, sustainability and incorporation of evidence based-design. He encourages clients to rethink healthcare environments to enable patients to live their most satisfying, hopeful, and productive lives. He focuses on the gathering and the integration of data analytics in daily practice to predict new lines of business and areas of expansion to inform and determine the key performance indicators required and directions required for strategic plans and tactical responses for capital planning.

Jim is also considered an expert behavioral health design, by peers and clients alike. Jim has been quoted in several articles and his projects have been featured in numerous magazines and blogs. Additionally, he led the design team that won the Institute for Patient-Centered Design’s 2015 Patient Centered Behavioral Health Design Competition.

The Board of Directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Greater Houston announces, the appointment of Angelina Brown Hudson, MPA as the organization’s Interim Executive Director following the retirement of Executive Director Neal Sarahan, Ph.D. on August 6, 2021.

Since 2011, Hudson has served as NAMI Greater Houston’s Vice President of Programs and Partnerships where she supported earlier identification of those facing a mental health condition, removing barriers to mental health services and supports, and de-criminalizing those living with mental health conditions by advocating for appropriate treatment options. She has also been instrumental in leading the operations of the psychoeducation programs servicing family members of loved ones diagnosed with a serious mental health condition, parents of children diagnosed, military family members reeling from deployment-related challenges, and those searching for their own recovery path.

Scott Sevigny has been with Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. since 1998. He brings over 26 years of experience as a professional engineer and currently serves as a client executive/senior project manager. An accomplished mechanical engineer, Scott is a Navy veteran and holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Master of Science in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Kara Green is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner working with patients across their lifespans in primary and preventive care. She has worked in nursing and the medical field for more than 20 years. She serves as the Director of Clinical Services and Quality Improvement for HOPE Clinic. Kara graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston with her Master of Science Degree in Nursing and lives in Sharpstown. She enjoys caring for families at HOPE Clinic and helping them toward health and wellness.

Fred Knapp is Head of Acquisitions for the U.S. Office and Life Science platform at EQT Exeter, a global real estate private equity firm with more than $25 billion in real estate assets under management. In this role, Mr. Knapp is responsible for leading the investment team that oversees the acquisition, development and redevelopment of office and life science properties throughout the U.S., including sourcing, negotiating and closing investments. Since joining Exeter in 2016, Mr. Knapp has secured over $700 million in marketed and off-market transactions, ranging from high-yielding scenarios with tenants such as McDonald’s Corporation and The Hartford Insurance, to high value-add speculative redevelopment opportunities. Previously, Mr. Knapp served as Vice President of Investments at Cousins Properties, a publicly traded office REIT (NYSE: CUZ), where he oversaw acquisitions, development, asset management, and dispositions of Cousins’ 8 million SF, Class A office holdings in Texas. Prior to Cousins, Mr. Knapp worked at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing in New York where he participated in acquisitions on behalf of the company’s $5 billion global opportunity fund and $13 billion U.S. core real estate private equity fund. He began his career at the private investment office of (Trammell) Crow Holdings and at Deloitte in the Structured Finance Transactions Group. Hyde Griffith has more than 30 years of program management experience in the construction and AEC industry. With a focus in healthcare and life sciences, higher education, technology, and government, he executes strategic business solutions that deliver an exceptional client experience. As the Houston Office Leader, Hyde leads efforts to collaborate with design engineers, architects, trade partners, and clients throughout a project’s lifecycle to ensure transparency and collaboration among all parties. His professional experience also includes Building Information Modeling, P&L Management, Data Strategy Management, and contract administration.

In his role as senior vice president, Chris Briggs leads cross-functional initiatives that support Buxton’s work in the public sector and commercial real estate industry. Since joining the company in 2003, Chris has held leadership positions in operations, product development, marketing, client experience, and sales – including as a consultant to Buxton’s retail and healthcare clients. He has been a featured speaker at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and the Texas A&M Mays School of Business.

Chris is actively involved in the business and educational community. He has been an adjunct instructor at the TCU Neeley School of Business MBA program, coordinated the Buxton Challenge at the Wharton Customer Analytics Initiative and Texas A&M University, served on the advisory board for the International City/County Managers Association, contributed to the Harvard Business Review, and served on the board of the University of North Texas College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS).
