Yasmene McDaniel, MBA, MHA serves as Chief Executive Officer of HCA Houston Healthcare

Southeast network, comprised of an acute care hospital, free standing rehabilitation hospital,

free standing emergency rooms, and medical access points throughout the southeastern portion

of Harris County. Prior to joining the HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast team, she was with

another HCA affiliate hospital system – Corpus Christi Medical Center. She has served in

executive leadership roles with Sparks Health System in Fort Smith, Arkansas and Jackson

Health System in Miami, Florida.

Yasmene possess 15 years of healthcare leadership in hospital and physician group operations.

She has a proven record in leading strategic planning and business development initiatives,

improving employee, patient and physician engagement, and managing numerous construction

and expansion projects.

A native Texan, Yasmene holds Master degrees in Business Administration and Healthcare

Administration from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and a Bachelor of Science

degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Dr. Esmaeil Porsa serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer for Harris Health System,

which is a community-focused, academic and safety-net healthcare system dedicated to

improving the health of those most in need in Harris County, Texas, through quality care

delivery, coordination of care and education.

Harris Health operates 40 health centers, clinics, homeless shelter clinics, specialty locations

and two trauma hospitals: Ben Taub Hospital (Level 1) and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital (Level 3).

The system provides high-quality care and treatment for more than 2 million outpatient and

primary care visits, 147,000 emergency and trauma cases and more than 40,000 hospital cases

each year with an operating budget of $2.2 billion.

Prior to his return to Harris Health in 2020, Dr. Porsa served as the Executive Vice President and

Chief Strategy and Integration Officer at Parkland Health and Hospital System where he had

worked since 2007 in different capacities including the Medical Director of the Dallas County Jail

Health program, Associate Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President for Professional and

Academic Affairs and Interim Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Porsa completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry at Our Lady of the

Lake University in San Antonio before earning his medical degree from the University of Texas

Health Science Center Medical School in San Antonio. He completed his training in internal

medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he did his residency

at Harris Health serving as Chief Medical Resident at Harris Health LBJ Hospital. Dr. Porsa

completed a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology at the University of Texas Health

Science Center at Houston School of Public Health as well as a fellowship program in primary

care at the UTHSC-Houston medical school in 2005. Dr. Porsa obtained his MBA degree in Health

Care Leadership from University of Texas in Dallas in 2017.

Dr. Porsa has a special interest in improving community health through addressing social

determinants of health (SDOH) and healthcare delivery in the correctional setting. He currently

serves as the Vice Chair for the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and is a member of the

Certified Correctional Health Care Professional Board of Trustees for the National Commission

on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC).

Scott Ulrich has been working in health care for over 35 years and has had responsibility for a wide variety of hospital operations throughout his career. The past 16 and a half years have been with Houston Methodist Hospital. His passion has been facilitating a patient’s access to care and optimal hospital performance. Scott has worked in a variety of healthcare settings both academic and community and believes that a strong focus on process and outcomes are the best strategies to improve performance. Service, Quality and Productivity are the elements that drive both great satisfaction and superior financial results.

Andrew Koska is a Principal and Co-Healthcare Practice Leader for the Houston studio of

Perkins&Will. Leading the studio’s healthcare projects, Andrew draws on more than 20 years of

architectural design experience, and an approach that focuses on improving the effectiveness

of spaces to foster healing. His passion for healthcare is rooted in witnessing the connection

between space and the wellness of patients in hospitals.

Andrew has worked on a host of new design and renovation projects for key institutions within

the Houston medical community, including UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, Methodist

Hospital, UTHealth, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Memorial Hermann. He holds a Master of

Architecture from Texas A&M and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from UT at Austin; and is a

member of the American Institute of Architects, National Council of Architecture Regulatory

Boards, and the American College of Healthcare Architects. Andrew is also a LEED Accredited

Professional—a certification that came naturally from his love of the outdoors, and his belief in

the beauty of nature as a healing source.

Pam has thirty years of experience in construction and facilities project management, with the majority of her career spent in the healthcare industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Elmhurst College.

Pam has recently joined MD Anderson Cancer Center as the Director, Capital Projects and is responsible for major capital clinical projects. She provides the leadership to ensure projects have the operational strategies and systems in place to achieve the desired expectations, promote a continuous improvement culture, identify ways to manage risk to achieve project goals and motivate a high performing team.

Yvonne Nagy is the Managing Principal of HDR’s Houston studio. She

has multi-level experience as a project

architect, project manager, and managing principals

focused within the health industry. With more than 20

years of experience, she has managed numerous complex

healthcare projects ranging from new replacement

facilities to multi-phased renovations. As Managing

Principal/PIC, she provides overall leadership and

direction to commit the necessary resources of the firm

to successfully complete healthcare projects on time

and budget.

Jason is the Founder and Managing Partner of Big Sky Medical Real Estate Funds. He has spent his career exclusively in the healthcare real estate industry and is a well-established thought leader in the medical office and senior living sectors. Jason began his career as a civil engineer designing hospitals in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduate school, he ventured into medical office development and found his niche organizing physicians into real estate partnerships. Since then, he has developed or acquired over six million square feet of healthcare real estate in 19 states valued in excess of $1.6 billion. Jason prides himself on his hands-on approach and his deep understanding of the underlying drivers of value.

Prior to starting Big Sky, Jason founded Caddis Partners, LLC in early 2008 and was its CEO, largest shareholder, and sole managing partner from its inception until May of 2020. During his tenure, Jason grew Caddis from a small boutique developer to one of the largest Healthcare Real Estate platforms in the United States with over 60 professionals spread amongst its four offices. Modern Healthcare consistently ranked Caddis one of the top ten Healthcare Real Estate developers in the United States by annual deal volume.

In 2016, Jason was voted by a panel of his peers the national Healthcare Real Estate Executive of the Year by Healthcare Real Estate Insights and was awarded Most Admired CEO for North Texas from the Dallas Business Journal in 2019. Jason serves on several boards including the Folsom Institute at SMU, Texas A&M Mays Business School Real Estate Advisory Board, and The Real Estate Council (TREC). Jason currently serves alongside his wife, Jean, as co-chair of Highland Park Education Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign (Mad for Plaid). Through his work with Habitat for Humanity, Jason became passionate about housing and education for those in need. Warren currently serves as senior vice president/managing director in the Houston, Texas office for

NorthMarq Capital. With 2 decades of experience in commercial real estate investment banking, he is

responsible for managing the office as well as multiple teams originating, underwriting, marketing, and

closing debt and equity financing. Throughout his career he has completed the capitalization of a broad

array of assets including multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, data, storage, and medical

Alan Dash is the Healthcare Technology Lead at Burns Engineering. Alan specializes in information-communications strategies and solutions that enable providers and practitioners to overcome their unique operational challenges. With three decades of experience as an in-house hospital IT leader and as a technology consultant, Alan has advised several of the country’s largest hospital systems. Alan assists hospitals improve patient outcomes, enhance the hospital-stay experience, optimize operational workflows, avoid wasteful spending, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guiding principles. He is a member of the World Future Society (WFS) and the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Burns Engineering brings highly technical, sought-after expertise to healthcare facility, critical infrastructure, and built environment projects.

How can we ensure the success of healthcare projects long after they’re completed? This question has

guided me since I started as a medical planner. I love listening to clients’ current needs and planning for

the future to create holistic healthcare designs that support improved patient outcomes.

For more than 20 years, I’ve worked on projects ranging from micro-size renovation projects to a 1.2-

million SF new construction project. By supporting efficient operational flows and envisioning future

Brendon leads a specialized technology advisory service practice for one of the largest

and most innovative engineering firms in the US. He is a business and systems process

expert who has extensive background with helping clients maximize their technology

investments. While his experience is very deep in Healthcare, he also works with

numerous clients in the a variety of markets including Education, Industrial,

Pharmaceutical, Transportation as well as Hospitality.

Brendon’s experience includes leading Johnson Control’s Healthcare Technology

Services group supporting North America and Asia. He was also a Principal for IBM

Global Services and managed a portfolio of consulting clients in the central and east

regions of the US.

His experience in technology integration and related IT systems is considerable.

Brendon is proficient in HL7, FHIR, BACnet, DICOM, SQL Databases, MDIL, API

development, Webservices and has worked with numerous EMR, telemetry, RIS/PACS

systems including GE, Siemens, Cerner, Epic and Meditech and Philips. Brendon is

also certified in Lean process improvement for clinical workflow.

As a client-oriented, healthcare-focused architect, Greg utilizes his years of experience in the industry to create environments that reflect the latest knowledge in delivery, technology, and design. Greg has a holistic approach to teaching the process of architecture and believes each person should be nimble in their role and able to deliver a consistently high level of service. A hands-on manager and a people person, Greg is approachable, flexible, and dedicated to his projects. He strives to complete projects in the most efficient and effective manner while ensuring the client is pleased with the outcome. Scott Sevigny has been with Shah Smith & Associates, Inc. since 1998. He brings over 26 years of experience as a professional engineer and currently serves as a client executive/senior project manager. An accomplished mechanical engineer, Scott is a Navy veteran and holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Master of Science in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

His education combined with his background in general contracting, as well as his leadership training while a U.S. Naval Aviator, has earned Scott a reputation as an expert in leading MEP portion of challenging and complex projects. Scott’s portfolio of delivered projects has a breadth which includes aviation, higher Ed, Private life science, healthcare, Science and Technology, Library, and master planning, with particular depth in vivaria, research labs, and healthcare.

Hyde Griffith has more than 30 years of program management experience in the construction and AEC industry. With a focus in healthcare and life sciences, higher education, technology, and government, he executes strategic business solutions that deliver an exceptional client experience. As the Houston Office Leader, Hyde leads efforts to collaborate with design engineers, architects, trade partners, and clients throughout a project’s lifecycle to ensure transparency and collaboration among all parties. His professional experience also includes Building Information Modeling, P&L Management, Data Strategy Management, and contract administration.

Trent Fulin, an executive leader with nearly 12 years of experience in the healthcare profession, serves as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. Fulin is responsible for overseeing hospital operations and managing departmental leadership to ensure patient satisfaction. Additionally, Fulin has executive oversight of numerous service lines including, but not limited to, the cancer center and the breast care center.

Fulin was part of the leadership team that helped develop and open Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital in June 2017, an acute care hospital strategically located to meet the growing health care needs of the community and designed to deliver the unparalleled Houston Methodist experience to those seeking comprehensive care in a world class setting close to home.

Fulin drove operations for the hospital’s recent $250 million master-planned campus expansion with an on-time opening in January 2022. The new care tower is a patient-centric project which incorporates innovative technology and a hospital-of-the-future design.

Fulin’s vision to implement evidence-based programs with outcome-driven results led Houston Methodist The Woodlands to achieve Comprehensive Stroke Certification and DNV Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation within two years of the hospital opening. Under Fulin’s leadership, the hospital continues to achieve nationwide health care accolades based on quality and patient safety, including the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Program Certification.

Fulin has extensive leadership experience with HCA, Inc., including previous leadership positions at Pearland Medical Center, Bayshore Medical Center and East Houston Regional Medical Center.

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Policy and Administration from Pennsylvania State University, Fulin subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Cory Burkhalter is Vice President | Principal of O’Donnell/Snider’s Healthcare | Research Division. He has over 29 years of experience leading the safe and successful management of all aspects of healthcare construction including invasive hospital renovations/expansions/additions, diagnostic/imaging centers, medical office and clinical buildouts, and laboratory/ research facilities.

Paul has more than 30 years of professional experience in the planning and design of healthcare facilities, including experience in academic medical centers, ambulatory facilities, cancer centers, and sports medicine. Paul’s experience includes all 3 major program areas in academic health centers. On the clinical side, he has worked at scales as small as individual physician practices all the way to tertiary care hospitals. For research programs, he has worked at the level of integrating new PI recruits into the AHC enterprise, to state of the art translational research programs. His experience in medical and allied health education includes understanding of the interdisciplinary, integrative, and collaborative nature of those programs.

Matt's journey is a testament to the power of mentorship and dedication. Born and raised in

Pasadena, Texas, he graduated from Deer Park High School in 1997. His youth was marked by

active participation in Scouting, earning his Eagle Scout rank at just 15, and contributing as a

staffer in various summer and winter camps. Additionally, he was a three-year letterman on the

DPHS track team.

Post high school, Matt enlisted in the US Navy, where he served for six years. During his service, he

was forward deployed to the Persian Gulf in 2003 and 2005 onboard USS Nimitz (CVN-68),

supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. By the end of his service,

Matt had achieved the rank of Machinist Mate 1st Class, Nuclear Designation, Surface Warfare

Specialist, MMN1 (SW), and was honorably discharged.

In 2007, Matt began his career in the HVAC industry by changing air filters for a small mechanical

contracting firm. His hard work and dedication saw him progress from fieldwork to office roles,

learning project estimation along the way. Eventually, he joined Way Engineering and within a year,

he was promoted to Vice President. In his current role, Matt oversees all Business Development

and Marketing activities. He also mentors young Project and Assistant Project Managers and

contributes to preconstruction efforts by sharing his extensive operational experience.

Matt attributes his success to the mentors who guided him and is committed to mentoring others

in turn. He believes in the impact of mentorship and strives to support and develop those around

him.

Matt is married to Natalie, whom he met during his Navy days, and they have been married since

2008. They have two sons, ages 12 and 9, who are active in scouts and gymnastics. The family

enjoys traveling, watching movies, and cherishing their time together as they watch their boys grow

up.

An architectural graduate of the University of Southern California, Jill spent the majority of her

career in healthcare facility planning, the final 22 years at Texas Children’s Hospital guiding the

development of over $2B of work and adding over 5M square feet. Jill is a licensed architect in

Texas and California and holds a certificate from the National Council of Architectural

Registration Boards (NCARB).

As Director of Facilities Planning Services, Bhargav leads a team of planners, designers,

activation managers and customer advocates responsible for maintaining institutional standards

and providing planning and design management of projects. His scope includes Strategic

Facilities Development, Master Planning, Design, New Construction and Renovation of

healthcare, research, and education facilities.

Prior to this role, Bhargav served as a Principal and Senior Medical Planner for EYP and has 25

years of international experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. He

has an MBA with a focus on healthcare from Rice University, a Master of Architecture with a

Certificate in Health Systems Design from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor of

Architecture from the School of Planning & Design in New Delhi, India.

Bhargav is a registered architect and a member of the American Institute for Architects (AIA). A

knowledge leader in the industry, he is a regular speaker at healthcare design conferences and

frequent author in industry journals. He was the recipient of the American Institute of Architects

Graduate Fellowship in Healthcare Research and Design.

Lauren Amber Prestenbach, NCIDQ, LEED AP ID+C, EDAC, IIDA, is an award-winning commercial & healthcare interior design whose sharply honed skills stem from her experience on the vendor/client side and her extensive training and continuing education as registered interior designer over the past 20 years. Her innate design talent is complemented by her professional leadership as a highly committed and driven advocate for professional certification for her discipline. Lauren Amber’s impressive skill set, businesslike approach and leadership foster a client-centric working style. She is fully engaged with clients from the initial meeting, to research/information gathering, code compliancy, design, materials selection, and finally to installation. Lauren Amber creates designs that are functional, aesthetic, sustainable and sensitive to clients’ bottom lines. As a Registered Interior Designer, LEED Accredited Professional and a Center for Healthcare Design’s Evidence Based Interior Designer (EDAC), Lauren Amber has worked with Healthcare clients such as Kelsey-Seybold, Memorial Hermann, and UTMB. She was named to ENR’s 2021 National Top 20 Under 40 and she also is affiliated with CoreNet, IIDA, NAIOP, and the National Council for Interior Design Certification.

Joey Khaled, serves as a partner at McCarthy Building Companies with extensive experience in the construction industry. With a total of 12 years in the industry, Joey has cultivated a deep understanding of construction practices and project management.

Having initially honed his skills in operations, Joey in recent years has transitioned into the role of Preconstruction Director. This position has allowed him to leverage his expertise and lead a diverse team in delivering exceptional preconstruction services. Notably, Joey has made significant contributions to numerous projects, particularly within the healthcare sector. As the Preconstruction Director, Joey oversees all aspects of the team's preconstruction efforts, ensuring a seamless and client-focused experience during the design phase.

Gaurav Khadse (GK) is a Registered Architect with 18 years’ experience in design and construction of healthcare facilities. Gaurav holds the position of Vice President, Facilities Planning & Development and Real Estate at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). In his position, he leads the facilities project management, program management and planning team responsible for expansion of strategic facilities expansion projects, capital projects and renovations at Texas Children’s. His team is currently handling projects in various stages of design and construction with project costs over a billion dollars including the expansion of Texas Children’s new campus in Austin.

Gaurav has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Architecture from Texas A&M University with a specialization in Health Systems and Design. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in India. He is licensed in Texas and also a LEED accredited professional.

With a strong passion for his work, Mike established his own consulting company, Toftely Construction Services (TCS), in 2008. His most recent experience was serving as the Director of Construction for one of the major Healthcare systems in California. For this client, Mike successfully oversaw numerous projects in their adult hospital, and most recently a $1.5 Billion capital improvement program modernizing their adult hospital. In this role, he was responsible for managing the construction budget, developing conceptual designs, leading multidisciplinary teams of design and construction professionals, and ensuring timely project execution. His leadership resulted in the successful completion of many projects, and his unique skill of bringing healthcare projects under budget and on time deliveries is highly valued by his clients. Mike’s exceptional skills with change order & contract negotiations, risk mitigation, occupied hospital safety, phasing development, design-build projects, and CPM scheduling allow him to have a unique insight into the needs of his healthcare clients. As the owner and principal of TCS, Mike oversees and guides his employees to deliver exceptional work. His team's expertise has enabled them to save their clients valuable time and capital. With a proven track record of serving 13 different healthcare organizations, Mike's expertise and leadership are highly sought after in the industry.

Kirk joined Memorial Hermann in the summer of 2005, and through his tenure at MHHS his

responsibilities have expanded to include:

 The financial and operational success of 6 million square feet of owned or leased

MOB and Office real estate assets.

 Site selection and development of various campus and retail healthcare locations

 Operationally responsible for third-party leased properties, comprised of 37 MOB’s,

200 + retail and warehouse locations in the greater Houston region.

 Asset management of various raw land, timber, mineral, aviation, and reversionary

properties.

 Corporate facilities management for 650,000 square feet and 3,500 FTE’s

Kirk has over 30 years of commercial, retail, and industrial real estate experience. Prior to

joining Memorial Hermann, he served as Vice President of corporate dispositions at The

Staubach Company where he marketed and managed commercial programs. He also assisted

in the development, leasing and management of numerous Class A Mixed-use properties for

more than six years as Vice President for the Dienna Nelson Augustine Company in Houston.

His diverse portfolio included joint venture, and institutional owned commercial / industrial

properties.

Kirk holds the CCIM and CPM professional accreditations, a Texas Real Estate Broker

license and earned his bachelor’s in business administration from Texas State University in

San Marcos, Texas. Community roles include board membership with Houston Area Urban

League, board membership with the Harris Co Memorial Management District, executive

board member for Spring Branch Education Foundation and committee member within the

Memorial Hermann Community Benefits Impact Fund for affordable housing.

Kirk is a fourth generation Texan and native Houstonian. When not working, he enjoys being

outdoors and spending time with his wife Lorena and son Thomas.

Mike is a 5th generation Houstonian with more than 17

years of construction experience. He started out in the

Maritime Industry, traveling throughout the Gulf Coast, Angola, and Venezuela. Mike

continued in Commercial Construction with a focus in local healthcare, working with

notable organizations such as Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine,

Houston Methodist Hospital, the US Corps of Engineers, and UT M.D. Anderson Cancer

Center.

Mike is a Healthcare Project Executive at DPR Construction and sits on the Business

Unit Leadership Team. He and his wife have two young sons and enjoy watching the

Astros, house projects, and hanging out by the pool.

Carl Butler has more than 25 years of experience in managing complex healthcare and science projects, ranging from entire hospital campus design to pharmaceutical clean rooms. As the leader of the Healthcare and Health Science practice at Browne McGregor Architects (BMA), Carl is responsible for leading many of BMA's healthcare and health science projects by using effective, client-focused design solutions. He also coaches and mentors others in the company and is a go-to resource for clients and staff.

Carl is passionate about increasing the company's healthcare and health science projects through increased visibility and reputation as a leader in the industry. He also wants BMA to be "first to mind" with its clients as a top resource for knowledge and problem solving, and to deliver high-quality, on-time solutions with consistency through its superior design capabilities.

Carl is an active member of the Houston chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), where he is a member of the Committee on Architecture for Health (Committee Chair 2008 and 2023).
