Simon is Managing Director, member of the OCP management team, and country head for Ireland. Prior to OCP, he worked in Rabobank’s Mergers & Acquisitions department. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam(VU).

John brings to the firm over 25 years of International Real Estate experience, including for the last 18 years, participating in Irish real estate asset management and development. John is based in Dublin, Ireland and he is responsible for managing Round Hill’s Irish Development and Investment business.

He has previously worked in real estate asset management and development for Thames Water Property, BAA Lynton and Pillar Property in the U.K. and Treasury Holdings Limited, Harcourt Developments Limited and WK Nowlan Real Estate Advisors in Ireland. In the course of his professional career, John has managed significant real estate development projects, from inception to completion.

John holds a BSc (Hons) Degree from Coventry University and a Diploma in Real Estate from the College of Estate Management, Reading. A Chartered Surveyor, he is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Society of Chartered Surveyors, Ireland and a former Chair of the Society of Chartered Surveyors, Ireland, Planning and Development Division.

Claire Solon is a Managing Director and leads the investment, development and operational business in Ireland. Claire is responsible for growing Greystar’s presence in the Irish market by identifying acquisition and development opportunities for both multifamily and student assets. She works with her to team on capital relations right through to the delivery and operation of the finished product.

Prior to joining Greystar in 2019, Claire was Head of Property at Aviva Ireland where she managed property funds of over €600m in Ireland and the UK. She was responsible for strategy formulation and acquisitions, disposals and developments within its extensive property portfolio. Claire was previously Head of Estates Management at ESB Ireland, which is the largest landowner in the country.

Claire is an active Fellow of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI), which represents over 6,000 members, and was the youngest person to be elected to the role of President in 2016. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) where she is a member of the Sustainability Committee. She is currently a non-executive board member of state-owned Home Building Finance Ireland.

Claire has a first-class honours degree in Property Economics from Technological University Dublin (TUD) and a Bachelor of Science from Trinity College Dublin. She also holds certificates in Stock Market Trading and Project Management. She is dual qualified as a chartered planning and development, and a project management surveyor.

Mark is the CEO of Richmond Homes, one of the most active development companies in the Irish market. Operating in both the Owner-Occupier and Build to Rent markets, the company has over 900 apartments and 250 houses currently under construction across 7 sites in the Greater Dublin Area. He leads a dynamic and experienced team of highly qualified professionals who are industry leaders in property development from design and planning to construction and marketing.

Richmond Homes is part of Avestus Capital Partners, a leading real estate company with a portfolio of excess €1bn investment assets. This includes Havitat, a leading PRS operator currently managing c. 1,000 apts in the Irish market.

Mark is a chartered accountant and a member of the Irish Tax Institute.

Mike has 18 years of Real Estate experience covering the UK and Europe, with the last 12 years focused on Investment. He joined DWS in 2017 and since then has been leading investment into the BTR sector, in both the UK and Ireland. In the past 4 years he has overseen the investment of over €2.5BN, the majority of which was targeting Residential and Student Housing. Prior to DWS, Mike was an Investment Director at PATRIZIA and previously held positions at Macquarie Bank and BNP Paribas Real Estate. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Thomas Blangy joined QuadReal as Vice President, International Real Estate, Europe in May 2019. He focuses on real estate investments across all asset classes in Europe.

Thomas previously served as Vice President at Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI) in London as part of the pan-European acquisitions team, where he spent eight years investing in all real estate asset classes throughout both Western Europe and Central Eastern Europe.

Thomas started his career in 2010 with AEW Europe in London focusing on investments in Central Eastern Europe. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Management from HEC Paris.

David Cantwell is a Director of Hooke & MacDonald and has been with the company since 1982. A Fellow of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, David is highly regarded for his expertise and track record in residential development, design, planning, property management, asset reviews, investment and realisation. As part of the Hooke & MacDonald team that has lead the Multi-family / BTR investment sector in Ireland and sold over €2 billion in properties over the last 5 years, David has a deep knowledge of residential capital markets and investor expectations and requirements in the living sector.

Kelly O'Hara is a Partner and Head of Real Estate in Dillon Eustace. She acts for a broad range of institutional, corporate, multinational and private clients on development deals, sales and purchases, commercial leasing and day to day landlord/tenant matters as well as advising lenders and borrowers on property finance deals, She also has extensive experience in advising on all aspects of private rented sector (PRS) transactions as well as residential development (including with regard to owners’ management companies), residential leasing and social housing schemes.

Donald is a multi-disciplined real estate professional with 21 years wide-ranging experience including property design & development, capital markets, disposals and property management; real estate lending; financial accounting and auditing. Donald is a member the Hooke & MacDonald team that has advised on over €2.5bn in residential development & investment transactions over the past 6 years and currently manages over 2,500 houses and apartments across the Greater Dublin Area for institutional clients. Donald is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, has a Masters in Planning & Development and is an Executive Board member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Ireland; an active member of the ULI European Urban Regeneration Council; and is a member of the Planning & Development Committee of Property Industry Ireland (PII).

I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin, where my primary research areas are housing markets, urban economics, and economic history. I am particularly interested in long-run housing markets, in order to better understand current housing experiences such as rapidly increasing housing costs in many high-income cities. Mark Dunleavy is the CEO of MD Living who currently manage 5,000 units in the greater Dublin area. MD Living is a specialist Leasing & Property Management company providing white label services to some of the largest Institutional PRS operators in Ireland. In addition to this they currently manage one of the largest portfolios of social hosing stock in Ireland for Institutional Investors and Pension Fund Managers on both the standard and enhanced lease. Mark is also a Director of Focus Housing which is one of Ireland largest Homeless charities.

Mike is UK editor of Bisnow. Before this, alongside three friends he bought pan-European property mag EuroProperty out of non-existence and re established it before selling the business to PropertyEU. Prior to that he was editor of Property Week, and has also worked for Estates Gazette.

Hazel is a Chartered Engineer and Town Planner with over 30 years’ experience (public and private sectors) in all aspects of development – planning and land use, master planning, design development, transportation, infrastructure and environment, procurement and business case development.

Prior to joining Bartra, at the invitation of Richard Barrett, Hazel had been Programme Director of the £150m. Strule Education Campus project for Northern Ireland’s Strategic Investment Board, bringing the programme through from inception through Master planning, Business Case and Governance development, Planning and Phase 1 Procurement and Construction.

Previously, Hazel was Planning & Development Director for Ballymore (Ireland); Director of Planning with Treasury Holdings; Development Director of Headland Property Holdings and Senior Land Use and Transportation Planner with the Dublin Transportation Office (now TII). Projects include Spencer Dock and National Convention Centre; Central Park Leopardstown; Charlesland, Greystones; Whitewater Shopping Centre; Pelletstown/Royal Canal Park; College Square, Terenure; Drumnigh Wood and Station Road Residential, Portmarnock; M1 Business Park, Balbriggan and the U2 Tower Project.

Hazel also acted on behalf of Treasury Holdings in the development of the PPP with the Rail Procurement Agency for the LUAS extension to Cherrywood.

In her role as Strategic Planning Director for Bartra Hazel leads the planning strategy across all projects – social housing, private residential, healthcare/nursing home and commercial real estate. Additionally, Hazel works closely with Andrew Ennis, Bartra Investment Director, on the Bartra Social Housing fund and the Enhanced Lease and associated Call for Proposals process.

Rick Larkin is executive director of Twinlite, a vertically integrated real estate developer that designs, builds and manages residential assets in Ireland. He also hosts ‘The Build’ a podcast that explores the issues faced by industry in scaling up housing delivery.

Eddie Byrne is the Chief Executive Officer and a Board Director of Irish Residential Properties REIT Plc (I-RES), the leading provider of professionally-managed private residential rental accommodation in Ireland.

Eddie has over 20 years’ experience at executive level in the real estate sector. Most recently, he was Joint Managing Partner at Quintain Developments Ireland, one of Ireland’s largest residential real estate developers, where he co-established the Irish operation that achieved over 5,000 planning permissions, built and sold c. 1,500 rental and private homes, and raised a significant amount of growth capital.

He was previously Managing Director at Hudson Advisors Ireland, where he oversaw several billion euro of acquisitions and disposals of real estate assets in Ireland. He was also Chief Portfolio Officer at Netherlands based Propertize where he had responsibility for a large property portfolio across the Benelux countries and before that, worked in real estate, banking, and capital markets in North America.

John Downey is the Managing Director of DOWNEY, a leading multi-disciplinary practice of Town Planners, Architects, Landscape Architects and Project Managers. John is a chartered town planner with over 25 years’ experience in planning & development within both the private and public sectors providing multi-disciplinary services to all areas within the property market from feasibility right through to on-site completion.

John is a specialist in development critiques, planning procedures and the procurement of all planning applications through the various planning processes including S.34 applications, SID applications, and the SHD (Strategic Housing Development) procedure. He has lectured in both the School of Planning and the School of Real Estate in DIT, Dublin on all planning matters.

Through his firm based in Merrion Square, John has represented several large housebuilders, development funds, estate agents, and legal firms, whilst also doing work for planning authorities including Housing Strategies including recently Laois CC and Galway CC.

He has also been heavily involved within the profession itself within advisory roles to Government including advising The Oireachtas (2014) and The Department of Finance (2015). He was part of the Advisory Group for the National Planning Framework (2017) and was on the expert panel for the formulation of the Design Standards for New Apartments - Guidelines for Planning Authorities (March 2018).

He is currently a serving Board Member on the ECTP-CEU (European Council of Spatial Planners) and was a former Chair of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Ireland, in addition to being the first Irish delegate elected as a corporate member of the General Assembly of the Royal Town Planning Institute in London.

Margaret Austin advises on construction, planning and environmental law matters arising on construction projects promoted by public and private developers. Margaret’s practice is a combination of both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. She has extensive experience in the construction sector advising contractors, developers, funders and professional teams on construction projects and on dispute management and resolution. Margaret advises on planning and environmental compliance as well as civil and criminal liability.
