I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin, where my primary research areas are housing markets, urban economics, and economic history. I am particularly interested in long-run housing markets, in order to better understand current housing experiences such as rapidly increasing housing costs in many high-income cities. You can find out more about my research either here or at my profiles on RePEc or Google Scholar. In addition, I am a Research Associate at the Spatial Economics Research Centre in LSE and author of the Daft.ie Reports on Ireland’s sale and rental housing markets. I am also a Board member of the HEA, Honorary Secretary of SSISI, and on the organising committee of DEW.

I am an active contributor to the policy debate, especially on the topic housing in Ireland. Most of the articles I publish either in my weekly column for the Sunday Independent or as commentaries for the Daft.ie Report are subsequently archived here. I am also engaged by a number of organisations each year, private and public, for public speaking or for bespoke consultancy. If that is of interest, please contact me. Students looking for materials relating to modules I teach should look for the relevant module on mymodule.tcd.ie.

With the Trinity Online Education team, I also run an online course in the Economics of the Property Market. The course is aimed both at professionals, including policymakers, who work day-to-day with housing but who may not have the economics background, and at the general public.

How Digital Twins Will Push The ESG Envelope For Your PRS Development

Anand Mecheri

Invicara

Anand Mecheri

CEO

Invicara

Anand is an industry expert in the domain of Digital Twins and their applications for creating operationally efficient real estate assets that meet ESG goals of investors.

He has over 30 years of experience in the smart buildings industry, having built and scaled businesses that were acquired by SIEMENS. His current venture “Invicara” has developed the industry first “low code” cloud platform to create highly customized Digital Twins of the built environment.

Why This Matters

With demand still outstripping supply in the Irish PRS market, there are opportunities for the taking.

The residential rental sector in Dublin is still in its infancy compared to other markets around the globe, and Ireland’s housing market continues to face challenges with changes in government policy and legislation. However, investor sentiment and activity in the Private-Rented Sector remains positive. In total €345M transacted across 15 deals in Q1 2021, compared to €101M in Q1 2020, Cushman & Wakefield data showed.

Join our expert speakers as they provide a comprehensive update on the future of PRS in Ireland - how to overcome the barriers, the creative financing strategies for acquisitions, design and development trends, and delivering sustainable projects.

  • The current state of the PRS market in Dublin — where’s the activity, who’s lending and who’s investing?

  • The kind of schemes international capital is targeting and the trends being seen in the equity and debt markets.

  • Delivering sustainable PRS — the strategies and solutions to meet the government's targets outlined in the Climate Action Bill.

  • Addressing the challenges of Ireland's planning legislation for the PRS market.

  • How value add and amenities  are evolving and how to integrate them into your schemes.

  • What current data is revealing and how to utilise the findings in the development and management process.

  • What Dublin’s PRS market looks like into 2022 and beyond.

This will be a one of a kind, can't-miss Bisnow event. We hope to have you with us for a memorable event in November!
