In July 2014, Maureen Tarrant was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children.

Prior to this, Maureen was CEO, Sky Ridge Medical Center, from 2001(opened 2003) and HealthONE Vice President for Strategic and Administrative Services. She also held the position of Vice President of Planning and Marketing at Rose Medical Center. At Sky Ridge, she was instrumental in the planning, design and development, construction and opening of HCA/HealthONE’s seventh and newest hospital.

Active in the community, Maureen is serving as Ex-Officio on the Board of Directors of Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation. She is also a board member of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation and Eating Disorder Center of Denver, a member of the MIC Management Committee (Radiology Joint Venture), an Adjunct Faculty member of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Health Administration, and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Maureen is also serving as a mentor for the Young Americans Celebration for Young Entrepreneurs. She has also served as Chair of the Board for the Colorado Hospital Association from 2010 to 2011, and was a member of American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board from 2009 to 2011.

Maureen received her MBA in healthcare management from Boston University. She and her husband, John, live in Denver and are the parents of two adult children. In her spare time, Maureen enjoys spectator sports (especially the Denver Broncos), interior design, concerts, ballet/theater and cruising.

Michelle Brokaw is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Fleisher Smyth Brokaw LLC. She is responsible for the firm's strategic direction, investment strategy, investor relations, and capital sourcing. Ms. Brokaw's real estate career spans more than twenty years and includes experience in commercial real estate acquisition, development, finance, leasing, and asset management. Michelle began working for Fleisher Smyth Company in 1992 and purchased the company from Donald Fleisher and Clark Smyth in 2004 after 15 years with the firm. Early in her career, Michelle worked at the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), focusing on troubled real estate assets left behind by the 1980's Savings and Loan debacle and disposing of some of the most difficult real estate assets in the RTC portfolio.

During her career at FSB, Michelle was directly involved or responsible for the acquisition or development of over 40 properties totaling more than 2,000,000 square feet of medical office, office, mixed-use, industrial, retail, and multi-family projects. Moreover, she has collaborated in raising more than $50 million in equity and obtaining more than $150 million in debt, assembling a portfolio valued at more than $200 million.

She was a founding member of CREW Denver, Commercial Real Estate Women and elected Chairperson of the organization at age 27. In 2001 she was selected by the Denver Business Journal as a recipient of its prestigious 40 under 40 award. Also in 2001, she served as chair of Brokers Benefiting Kids which has now raised over $2,000,000 to benefit Colorado's children at-risk. She is a member of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Ms. Brokaw has been a licensed real estate broker in the State of Colorado since 1989. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, Boulder where she majored in real estate and minored in finance and she holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a finance emphasis from the University of Denver.

Kimberly Muller is the Director of Technology Transfer at the University of Colorado serving the Denver and Anschutz Medical campuses.

Kimberly joined the University of Colorado in June 2015 with more than 15 years of experience in intellectual property management, licensing, research partnerships with corporations, and the formation of venture capital-financed startup companies. Kimberly was formerly the Deputy Director of the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute (YEI), and Associate Director of New Ventures at Yale University in the Office of Cooperative Research. Yale’s Office of Cooperative Research has started more than 70 new ventures that have raised $ 5 billion in investor capital.

Previously, Kimberly managed the intellectual property and licensing for Curagen Corporation (acquired by Celldex Therapeutics), and was co-founder of Arbor Fuel, a biofuel company that utilized recombinant microorganisms for the production of ethanol and butanol. Kimberly began her career in New York as a patent attorney for Chadbourne and Parke, LLP and Morgan & Finnegan, LLP where her practice focused on pharmaceutical patent litigation.

Kim has a graduate degree in genetics from the University of Connecticut and earned her Juris Doctorate with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in both New York and Connecticut.

Brian Watson is the Founder and CEO of Northstar Commercial Partners (“Northstar”). In this capacity he manages the firm’s overall business, new initiatives, investment strategies and all major investment decisions, as well as sits on the investment committee of all investment activities. Since founding the firm in 2000, Brian has positioned Northstar as a leading multi-faceted, vertically-integrated real estate company. Northstar’s line of business, which is value-add real estate focused on job creation, is currently one of the premier acquirers of vacant and/or value-add properties in markets throughout the United States. Northstar focuses on buying these assets from lenders, corporations and other owners, then improving and placing them back into productivity in order to create jobs and opportunities in their local communities while delivering attractive returns to its investors. To date, Brian has personally overseen the acquisition of over $650.8 million of property value and has purchased over 12.5 million square feet in 137 separate properties with his capital investors. The current portfolio consists of assets in 17 states in the U.S. and has a potential market value of over $1.3 billion

Courtney Hanfland is Catholic Health Initiatives’ System Director for Real Estate Transactions. After receiving her MBA, Courtney worked for a healthcare real estate joint venture acquiring value-add real estate portfolios in acquisitions, asset management and lease administration. Prior to joining CHI, Courtney worked for a national healthcare real estate developer overseeing Asset Management of a portfolio of real estate which included recapitalizations, portfolio acquisitions and day to day oversight of property operations.

In her current role, Courtney is responsible for oversight of the systems real estate transaction activity including acquisition, disposition, development and leasing. CHIs portfolio of real estate exceeds 53M SF and growing. Most recently, Courtney structured and facilitated the system’s monetization of $750M+ portfolio of healthcare real estate – the largest arm’s length transaction in history of the sector.

Lou Posada is a Principal of the firm with more than 25 years of healthcare experience. Mr. Posada has an extensive background in medical facility programming, planning, and lean process improvement. Lou has worked both nationally and internationally on projects for transitional research facilities for private sector and government clients, tertiary care facilities, academic medical centers and community hospitals.

Roland Lyon is president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado. In this role, he leads the state’s largest nonprofit health plan, providing high-quality affordable health care to approximately 670,000 members in Denver/Boulder, Southern Colorado, Northern Colorado, and the mountain communities of Summit and Eagle counties. He was previously vice president of Strategy, Market Expansion and Network Operations, and was responsible for strategy development and performance, capital planning, real estate, and market expansion and operations. With 25 years of experience in health care, Lyon joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002, initially based in California before coming to Colorado in 2006. His roles in California included vice president of consulting and capital planning in Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California region, and vice president of strategic planning in Kaiser Permanente’s national program offices. He also served in executive leadership roles at Catholic Healthcare West in Arizona, where he was the senior vice president of strategy and business development. Lyon began his career in management consulting in the health care field, working with APM and BDC Advisors. In the local community, Lyon serves on Mayor Hancock’s Denver Education Compact Advisory Board, the Denver Public Schools Foundation Board, and Downtown Denver Partnership’s Denver Civic Ventures board of directors. He is a member of the Business Experiential-Learning (BEL) Commission of the Colorado Workforce Development Council, and Colorado Forum. He previously served as treasurer for a new charter school — Downtown Denver Expeditionary School, for which he received the Volunteer of the Year award from Denver Downtown Partnership. He is a past board member of the Knowledge is Power Program (or KIPP) Colorado Schools, a charter school organization supporting underserved communities in Denver; as well as for Mercy Housing, also based in Denver. He received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brigham Young University, where he was valedictorian of the economics department, and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Lyon recently stated that he “envisions all Colorado residents having access to high-quality, affordable health care in their communities.” He sees Kaiser Permanente as a leader in this effort: “As we work to improve the health of our members, fewer health care resources are required to treat illness, which reduces cost. As both an insurance company and a health care provider —‘care and coverage together’, we pass these lower costs on to our members in the form of relatively lower prices.”

WALTER A. (BUZ) KOELBEL, JR. is president of Koelbel and Company, one of the longest continually-operating real estate companies in Colorado. The company’s efforts are focused on development of office parks, master-planned residential communities, urban in-fill homes, low-income tax-credit apartments, and real estate investments. Projects include: The Preserve at Greenwood Village, Pinehurst Country Club, The Breakers, Centennial Valley Business Park, and Rendezvous in Winter Park. New company platforms include Koelbel Urban Homes, LIHTC development, and Catalyst in RiNo. Koelbel is a native of Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1974 with a degree in finance. His professional memberships include the Urban Land Institute, Denver South Economic Development, Colorado Council on Economic Education, and Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

While a Board Member of Prime Health and a Senior Adviser to 10.10.10, healthtech entrepreneur Mike Biselli witnessed firsthand the tremendous power that a determined community of clinicians, technologists, and investors could wield, and realized just how much more could be accomplished if that power were harnessed. Jeffrey Nathanson is the CEO of Prime Health. He is also the President of 10.10.10 a new innovation program focused on solving Wicked Problems with serial entrepreneurs. Jeffrey is a serial entrepreneur himself founding several businesses in the Healthcare and CleanTech industries. Previously, Jeffrey was Executive Director Business Development at National Jewish Health where he was responsible for developing revenue producing business units. He started and built several business units including a digital health weight management product that delivered the Triple Aim and an advanced diagnostic laboratory focused on personalized medicine that both generate millions of dollars of contribution margin for the hospital. Jeffrey developed and managed 4 business incubators in New Mexico and Colorado focused on general technologies, biomedical technology and CleanTech. Jeffrey holds a B.A. degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.S. Degree in Environmental Management and Communications, from the University of Michigan.

Brent Bowman is Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s Vice President of Strategy and Patient Experience. He is responsible for Strategic Planning and Execution, Capital Planning, Facilities, Patient Service Experience, Access, and the Appointment/Advice Call Center for the region. He joined KP Colorado in 2004 as an internal strategic consultant. He has served as KP Colorado's Appointment/Advice Center Director, SCPMG San Diego’s Assistant Medical Group Administrator over Emergency Services, Occupational Medicine, Electronic Medical Record, Access, Service, Consulting Services and Analytics and as KP Colorado’s Senior Director of Operations Space Strategy and Medical Imaging. He is also the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Market Leader for Mountain Expansion.

Prior to joining KP, Brent was a Managing Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM Business Consulting Services in the Global Customer Relationship Management practice based in San Francisco. He led process redesign, system design and development, and customer service improvement components of engagements spanning four continents, in industries ranging from high technology manufacturing to retail and telecommunications. He holds a dual-degree Bachelors of Science in Information Systems and Accounting and has a Masters in Business Administration.

As Design Principal for Beck Denver, David is responsible for creating, developing and leading the architecture and interior design teams. David has worked as a design principal for several noted design firms throughout the United States and has won multiple industry design awards throughout his career. David is an advocate of the collaborative team approach to design, recognizing that the best solutions evolve from working with the client, design professional and consultant teams to elevate project goals through inspired thinking and collaboration. A registered architect with over 25 years of experience, David brings a diverse portfolio that spans from small, high-profile, one-of-a-kind projects to large, complex, multi-tenant and multi-stakeholder facilities. In addition, he brings 15 years of interior design and master planning experience. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas where he currently sits on the School of Architecture, Design and Planning Deans Advisory Council. He is a talented artist, bringing highly-detailed conceptual designs to project discovery. David is currently serving as the lead project designer for Catalyst Health-Tech Innovation, where Beck is providing integrated design-build services.

Focusing on licensing and data security, tech transactions and complex corporate intellectual property matters, including in the exploding health care tech industry, Ian assists clients ranging from start-ups to large public companies in succeeding in their mobile, tech, media and cloud based businesses. Ian has nearly two decades of experience working on the cutting edge of digital product development and commerce. His experience in mobile and internet commerce includes app development, digital content distribution, state and federal privacy issues, advertising claims, social networking, online and mobile gaming, e-commerce, mobile payments, and payment processing. Additionally, Ian counsels clients on software licensing, SAAS, OEM, VAR and distribution arrangements, outsourcing, strategic relationships, and other tech related matters.
