As co-founder and design principal of Semple Brown Design since 1982, Sarah Semple Brown’s thoughtful, layered approach to the design process is guided by her innate ability to genuinely understand her clients and their desires. She has made a substantial impact on the development of Denver’s built environment, and many of her projects have involved highly visible restorations and adaptive reuse interventions of historic buildings that bring great character and a sense of history to the Mile High City. Her award-winning projects are infused with simple clean concepts, depth, warmth, and quality – and are always respectful of the site.

As a Partner at JNS Architecture + Interior Design, Tobias Strohe contributes to the firm’s technical and creative direction. Tobias, who has 26 years of professional architecture experience, ensures projects meet JNS’ high standards, collaborating with all partners and teams to create pragmatically beautiful solutions. His expertise spanning the entire spectrum of the architectural industry is balanced with an acute attention to detail. Tobias is also a trained cabinet maker.

As DURA’s Director of Community Investment, April is responsible for project management, community engagement and securing new and additional resources for the organization. Prior to joining DURA, April served as the Memphis and Shelby County Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)’s Director of Vision and Project Management, where she was responsible for facilitating all of CRA’s projects and programs portfolios, managing most of the public procurement for professional and hard construction services, and supporting ongoing vision development for CRA.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and a Master of Science in Planning. Some of April’s project highlights include working on the North Memphis Greenline Extension and Park, the Memphis Harahan Bridge Project and the Memphis Crosstown Concourse. Originally from the south, April loves to cook and swears that her husband is a BBQ smoke master.

For most kids, Saturday mornings consisted of watching cartoons; while Andrew Duckett-Emke

did that too, you could also find him watching home improvement shows like This Old House.

Growing up, his parents were always hunting for a historic home they could restore—so

naturally, Andrew tagged along. Throughout his time in school, Andrew enjoyed math, science,

history, and art. Going into architecture was a great way to combine his love of buildings with all

his other passions.

With more than 25 years of experience under his belt, Andrew is now a Senior Architect III in

CSHQA’s Denver office. He is responsible for identifying character-defining features of historic

structures, crafting preservation strategies to protect and rehabilitate the existing buildings,

recognizing code inadequacies, and coordinating structural deficiency repairs. Andrew also

generates energy efficiency strategies that maintain the historic qualities of older buildings but

allow for updates to accommodate more modern uses. In addition to his historic preservation

work, Andrew has spent the majority of his career working in National Parks, generating a long

list of impressive projects across the country.

Andrew’s favorite part of his job is being able to breathe new life into old builds, and discovering

the historical background of the projects he works on in the process. He thrives in a team setting

and knows that the most successful projects stem from a cooperative team of designers,

engineers, owners, and contractors all working together – solidifying the owners’ goals into

physical form. “When a client is passionate about their project, that energy finds its way into the

project team.”

Outside of work, you can find Andrew and his partner exploring the great outdoors, trying new

restaurants and wineries, or taking long walks with their rescue beagle, Finn. They’re also avid

world travelers and have visited more than a dozen countries and various U.S. cities.

Kristoffer has provided innovative design solutions for more than 25 years and offers a wide variety of past project exposure for various development projects nationwide. As the director of architecture, he provides design oversight for Galloway’s multidisciplinary team that includes architecture, interiors, structural engineering, MEP engineering, and commissioning services. From initial site planning and building design to project construction, Kristoffer brings a high level of attention, enthusiasm, and expertise to projects. He is highly regarded for his ability to work with clients and teams to move past challenges and provide the highest quality design solution that is differentiated from competitors. Kristoffer works across most major market segments with a focus on multifamily, mixed use, hospitality, industrial, and commercial retail projects.

Kristoffer is licensed with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and is a National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) member. He is also a LEED-accredited professional and holds memberships with the International Council of Shopping Centers and NAIOP (Commercial Real Estate Development Association). He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University.

Frank Mataipule co-founded FAM Design, a design studio specializing in crafting exceptional experiences for boutique restaurants and hotels. With a robust background spanning over 22 years in design, architecture, and construction, Frank has worn various hats in the industry, overseeing the creation of uniquely designed properties nationwide. FAM Design is committed to weaving innovative storytelling through its emphasis on interior design and interior architecture, fostering a fun and collaborative relationship with clients to transform their visions into reality.

Bill’s role as Managing Principal is foundational to our practice. He joined Tryba in 1990, and leads the management of the firm overseeing business development, project management, staffing and operations. Bill is deeply engaged in the craft of architecture and works alongside project teams to ensure continuity, consistency and quality across our body of work.

Bill is dedicated to the design, adaptive reuse, and redevelopment of structures, systems and the public realm of the modern city. He focuses on the long-term consequences of urban sprawl, resource management and the revitalization of urban neighborhoods. He is highly involved in the growth of cities and sits on the Cherry Creek Design Review Board. Bill also volunteers to aid various local organizations in their efforts to promote smart growth initiatives and the rehabilitation of historic structures.

Zach is the CEO and co-founder Bristlecone Construction and is responsible for both the strategic direction of the business and client relationships. He has been working in the commercial construction industry for over 20 years and has continually executed on some of the most complicated projects in Colorado. Zach led Bristlecone from an upstart company to over $100m in annual revenue covering both general contracting services and multiple self-perform divisions.
