Evan Beattie

Principal, CEO, Chairman

GFF

Evan joined GFF as an architect in 2005 and became Chairman and CEO in 2020. With over 20 years of experience in architecture and planning, he was named one of the Dallas Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 in 2013 and one of the “Top 20 Under 40 in Architecture, Engineering and Construction” by ENR Texas & Louisiana in 2011. He has managed complex residential, retail, and mixed-use projects, focusing on sustainable design, density, smart growth, and New Urbanist principles. Evan takes a collaborative approach to design, prioritizing project goals and client expectations. He frequently speaks at ULI, AIA, TREC, and other events on these topics.

Evan is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), The Real Estate Council (TREC), and the North Texas Chapter of Urban Land Institute (ULI). He chaired the 2017 Associate Leadership Council leadership development program and serves on the Board of Governors for Downtown Dallas, Inc. Evan is also a City of Dallas Development Advisory Committee Member and was the founding member and former President of the Henderson Neighborhood Association. John Orfield

Partner

BOKA Powell

A graduate of Columbia University with a Master of Science in Architecture and Building Design, John Orfield is both product and proponent of the collaborative style that BOKA Powell exemplifies. John enjoys exploring the kinship between architecture, film, and dance – art forms he sees as related in their portrayal of human experience moving through space and time. He has sought out collaborative environments or created them on the spot in design firms and universities from New York to Indianapolis to Mexico City. John considers every project a partnership, not only between the architect and the client, but also with the site itself. He sees this contextual approach as one reason why there is no recognizable BOKA Powell “style” — only spaces that benefit their surroundings as the result of a very intentional design process.

Signature projects include Amerisource Bergen Headquarters, Frisco Public Library, Metrocrest Services, SRS Distribution Headquarters, and Toyota Music Factory. Why You Should Attend this DFW Architecture & Design Real Estate Event

What We’ll Cover:

  • Designing the Public Realm: How architects and planners are shaping walkability, gathering spaces, transitions, and street-level environments that foster daily social connection and belonging across districts, campuses, and mixed-use environments.

  • Place Identity & Spatial Character: How design teams define the visual and spatial language of a place, from form and proportion to edges, transitions, landscape integration, and long-view coherence, and how identity is felt, not just shown.

  • Material Expression & Interior Presence: The role of material selection, tactile quality, color, and surface dialogue in shaping emotional tone and interior experience, and how designers compose rooms that feel warm, grounded, and memorable.

  • Atmosphere & Human Experience: The subtle architectural qualities, such as light, shadow, tone, rhythm, and spatial pacing, that influence comfort, calm, and engagement inside commercial environments, and how designers use them intentionally.

  • Scale & the Body in Space: How proportion, movement, and spatial rhythm affect how people feel in both public settings and interior environments, and how thoughtful relationships between the two scales shape place attachment.

  • Design Intent Across the Built Environment: How interior and exterior architectural decisions reinforce one another to create a cohesive experience, from the street to the threshold to the intimate interior moment.

How You'll Do More Business: This event brings together architects, interiors leaders, developers, and design decision-makers to examine how the built environment shapes identity, connection, and experience across commercial spaces. As North Texas continues to evolve, the most successful environments are those that feel cohesive at every scale, from public gathering spaces to interior environments that communicate warmth, clarity, and character.

Join Bisnow as we explore how design teams are shaping the future of shared and personal experience in the built environment, and how stakeholders and architects are collaborating to create places that are memorable, intentional, and human-centered.

Who You’ll Meet: Architects, interiors principals, design directors, urban designers, landscape designers, developers, owners, placemaking leaders, design strategists, creative directors, and industry partners shaping how commercial environments are envisioned, designed, and experienced across North Texas.

Why You Should Attend: Bisnow events bring together the biggest power players in the industry to identify opportunities, build your network and expand your business.
