George Van Dusen was appointed Mayor of the Village of Skokie on January 4, 1999, and has

been re-elected to the office each term since then. He had been serving as a Village Trustee

since 1984. From 1973 to 1999, Mayor Van Dusen had served as Legislative Assistant and

Director of Suburban Operations for U.S. Congressman Sidney R. Yates (9 CD-IL). Prior to

becoming a Village Trustee, he served as Assistant Supervisor of Niles Township.

Mayor Van Dusen is an active member of the Northwest Municipal Conference (NWMC),

serving as a past president and currently on the agency’s Executive and Legislative

Committees. He serves as Chairman of the Board for the Solid Waste Agency of Northern

Cook County (SWANCC); is a member of the Board of the Illinois Municipal League (IML); is a

member of the Council of Mayors Executive Committee, and is Co-Chair of the North Shore

Council of Mayors.

Mayor Van Dusen is a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Oakton Community College where he

teaches American History and American Government.

He and his wife, Susan, have been residents of Skokie for 47 years. Their children were

educated by Skokie’s public schools and they reside in Skokie with the Van Dusen

grandchildren. He is co-author of the Detroit Tigers Encyclopedia (Sports Publishing, Inc.,

2002) and Clear It with Sid! Sidney R. Yates and Fifty Years of Presidents, Pragmatism, and

Public Service (2019) University of Illinois Press.

Van Dusen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Detroit (Michigan) and a

Master of Arts and Ph.D. from Loyola University (Chicago).

The Village of Skokie provides high-quality government services to over 67,000 residents,

24,000 households and 2,400 businesses all within a 10 mile radius. Skokie was the first

community in the entire United States to have nationally accredited FIRE, POLICE and PUBLIC

WORKS Departments. In addition, the Skokie Health Department is only one of seven state-

national healthcare systems, Hansen brings extensive experience in strategy

development and execution, operational improvement and partnerships to the IMD.

Hansen has the proven ability to successfully analyze an organization's critical business

requirements, identify deficiencies and potential opportunities, and develop innovative

and cost-effective solutions for enhancing competitiveness and improving performance.

She moves easily from vision and strategy to implementation and follow-through,

building in project management, accountability and managing for daily improvement

practices to ensure goal attainment.

Hansen developed expertise in planning and administering healthcare services across

Chicago land at UChicago Medicine, Loyola Health System, UI Health and Advocate

Health Care. Prior to joining the IMD, she was Managing Partner of The Red Penny

Group, advising national healthcare systems, medical groups and investors on growth,

integration, operations and strategic plans.

Hansen holds a Master of Health Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

from the University of South Carolina, and is trained in Lean Six Sigma, change

management and is a certified Patient Experience Professional. She is trained in Co-

Active Coaching and is a graduate of the Disney Institute for Healthcare Leadership.

Hansen is an active volunteer and advises emerging leaders and supports their career

growth in the Menttium corporate mentoring network. Hansen lives in west suburban La

Grange, where she serves on the community advisory council of Lyons Township High

School.

Mike leads the Real Estate Function for the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s

Hospital of Chicago. He is primarily engaged in strategy formation and

Transaction Management. In this role, significant collaboration with the

Leadership Team facilitates an understanding of the business plan which

informs the Real Estate Strategy. The implementation of that strategy is

achieved through various transactions which include acquisition of owned and

leased sites, development and disposition.

Mike's former role was the Regional Director of Real Estate for Trinity Health -

Illinois/Indiana Region consisting of five hospital campuses totaling 15M square

feet including Loyola University Medical Center and St. Joseph Regional Medical

Center (Mishawaka, IN). Mike led the real estate function which also included

90 off-site locations comprised of Ambulatory Care Centers and Timeshare

Leases. Key aspects of that role included building consensus across the

Leadership Team relative to business and real estate strategy and its correlating

implementation.

Prior to engaging in Healthcare Real Estate, Mike spent 16 years as a Managing

Director and Sr. Vice President with CBRE and Tramell Crow Company within

Corporate Services with a focus on leading Transaction Management and Real

Estate Strategy for large global clients including Microsoft and American

Express. With portfolios ranging from 11M to 40M square feet, Mike also led

large teams of up to 175 corporate service professionals engaged in all aspects

of Corporate Real Estate including Project and Facilities Management.

Curt brings decades of wide-ranging industry

experience to the position of Director of Real

Estate Development, with particular expertise

in healthcare solutions. As Director of Real

Estate Development, he takes a leadership role

in pursuing opportunities, planning responses

to proposal requests, and preparing project

pro formas, as well as managing due diligence

and entitlement processes for medical and

related projects throughout our Great Lakes

Region. He particularly excels during the critical

preconstruction phase of a project, assisting

his customers in site selection and acquisitions,

municipal-use permits and approvals, design

and financing— processes he strengthens

through his extensive relationships within

brokerage networks, third-party consultants,

governmental agencies and other stakeholders

and property owners. Curt values resolving

project conflicts proactively and is resourceful

at finding creative solutions that make a positive

impact on costs and scheduling, benefiting

Shawn Janus is the National Director |

Healthcare for Colliers International in

the USA. Shawn’s focus is to cultivate a

strong, value-driven platform in the

healthcare space, allowing Colliers to

healthcare clients. Shawn brings more

than 30 years of commercial real estate

experience, including more than 20

years dedicated to the healthcare real

estate sector. He has held senior

positions as both principal and advisor.

Shawn’s clients have included health

and third party owners/developers. He

prides himself on understanding the

drivers of the healthcare industry, and

applying that knowledge to help clients

goals. Specific to his career in the

Albert Lord is an Director Development Finance with Anchor Health Properties and is based in the firm’s Media, PA office.

As a key member of the investments and acquisitions team, Albert is intimately involved in deals through the investment lifecycle with responsibilities focused on souring, underwriting, financing,

valuing, and closing healthcare real estate acquisitions.

Albert has significant involvement in the healthcare real estate sector. To date, Albert has worked on more than $700 million of medical office and healthcare real estate transactions and has overseen the

publication of Anchor’s proprietary internal research database.

John Conrad, President and CEO, Illinois Biotechnology Innovation Organization (iBIO), the

association representing the nearly 88,000 life sciences jobs in Illinois

As President and CEO of iBIO, John’s mission is to promote, connect and engage the members of

the Illinois Life Sciences community to drive discovery, transform lives through groundbreaking

research and grow the Illinois economy.

John started at iBIO shortly after its formation in December of 2001, and has helped build the

organization into one of the top state BIO associations. He has been a constant champion for the

community helping to host 3 BIO International Conventions in Chicago, developed and released

the first economic study on the life sciences industry in Illinois, served on Governor Pritzker’s

Transition Committee, City of Chicago’s economic plan committee, launched the COVID PPE

Response Fund for Illinois and was part of the founding committee for MATTER Chicago, a

Mark Goodman is the president of Mark Goodman & Associates, Inc. (MGA), a privately

previously overlooked properties. His latest ventures include 320 N. Sangamon, a 13-

story modern loft style office building, co-developed with Tishman Speyer, that has been

a star performer in Chicago’s downtown office market, achieving a nearly 90% lease-up

since its opening less than one year ago, and 400 N. Elizabeth, a 503,000-square-foot

lab/office building that will be Chicago’s first purpose-built research and development

center designed by and for scientists to serve the rapidly growing life sciences industry.

Before launching MGA, Goodman honed his craft with regional land developer and

brokerage Kenroy, Inc. and I.C. Industries subsidiary Seay & Thomas, Inc. He is a

member of the Urban Land Institute where he serves on its Mixed-Use Urban

Development Council, along with other industry, civic and charitable organizations, such

Goodman earned a business degree from Miami University of Ohio and completed

Kate Merton has over 20 years of experience working across the Healthcare industry starting in R&D before moving onto roles in in Marketing, Business Development, and most recently Innovation. During her career Kate has been part of teams that have discovered new drugs, worked to develop and gain approval for blockbuster therapies and is passionate about being part of the future of healthcare where science intersects with the rapid advancements in technology.

Kate’s recent roles as Head of both Anthem’s Digital Incubator and the J&J’s Incubator on the East Coast has demonstrated her ability to deliver entrepreneurial talent and products into mainstream healthcare companies. At Anthem Kate launched the Anthem Digital Incubator and led newco business strategy in the incubator group within the Digital Care Delivery team. With J&J Kate was responsible for the regional (NY, Boston, Philadelphia) JLABS P&L and future growth strategies. Kate also led the JLABS global health tech strategy partnering with J&J focus areas (Pharma, Device, Consumer) to identify technologies for inclusion in the J&J portfolio.

As the lead operator of Chicago ARC, Kate is raising capital and concentrating on building out the venture collaborative process in partnership with the Bronzeville Lakefront Development. Chicago ARC will work with seed and series A start-ups looking for investment and pilot opportunities in the US targeting areas impacted by Health Equity. Bernie provides program management for a large life sciences and healthcare REIT, focusing on both portfolio administration and project-specific oversight. He believes PMA's life sciences and healthcare clients value the firm's understanding and embrace of unique situations and cultural environments, and PMA's approach to tailoring services and support accordingly.

His experience managing portfolios for various Fortune 500 companies allows him to strategically plan and execute projects and effectively manage large project teams. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Science in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University.

Carl Wolf joined LanzaTech in 2011 and has

worked in various roles throughout the company,

including operations, project management,

government relations, and business development

and strategy. Before joining LanzaTech, Carl was a

consultant at BCS, Incorporated, where he worked

with environmental and energy sector clients,

including the US Department of Energy. He holds a BA from University of Maryland-

Baltimore County, a MS from New York Institute of Technology, and an MBA from The

Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Jason is senior project manager at Skender, one of Chicago’s top building contractors with significant experience and expertise in life sciences construction. Skender frequently collaborates with developers, brokers, architects, universities, hospitals and corporations to deliver state-of-the-art, highly specialized lab workspaces. For example, Skender recently completed construction of the two-story, 54,000-SF lab and office space for Hazel Technologies, a USDA-funded food technology company. Located at 320 N. Sangamon in Fulton Market, the project was one of the first completed conversions of office space into lab space for a life sciences firm in Chicago.

Kurt’s professional engineering career spans over 40 years. His expertise includes structural engineering design for Mission Critical Facilities such as Data Centers, Health Care Facilities such as Hospitals and Clinics and Life Sciences Facilities such as Biopharmaceutical Pilot Plants and Production Facilities around the United States and the World. His area of expertise is in designing buildings to be occupable after natural disasters including Tornados, Hurricanes and Earthquakes. He has been the structural engineer of record for conventional “fixed Base Buildings” ranging from 1-23 stories, “Base Isolated Buildings” ranging from 1-5 stories, and the retrofit and new construction of buildings incorporating Fluid Viscous Dampers ranging from 1-22 stories. He has published numerous papers on passive energy dissipation and presented the findings at various conventions in Boston, San Francisco and Milan.

For over 23 years as the Founding Principal at PARADIGM Structural Engineers, Kurt spends most of his time developing new leaders at PARADIGM and mentoring staff in Chicago and San Francisco.

Eric leads Siemens Life Science program in the Midwest. He has over 30 years experience in assisting customers in the design and construction of their life science facilities including manufacturing plants, R&D labs, and office facilities. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue University and an MBA from DePaul University. He has consulted with an Illinois plant where a production line for an Isotope drug was been manufactured as well as other biotechnology and molecular biology facilities.
