Michael Becker

Sr. Director Real Estate Services

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago

Mike leads the Real Estate Function for the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s

Hospital of Chicago. He is primarily engaged in strategy formation and

Transaction Management. In this role, significant collaboration with the

Leadership Team facilitates an understanding of the business plan which

informs the Real Estate Strategy. The implementation of that strategy is

achieved through various transactions which include acquisition of owned and

leased sites, development and disposition.

Mike's former role was the Regional Director of Real Estate for Trinity Health -

Illinois/Indiana Region consisting of five hospital campuses totaling 15M square

feet including Loyola University Medical Center and St. Joseph Regional Medical

Center (Mishawaka, IN). Mike led the real estate function which also included

90 off-site locations comprised of Ambulatory Care Centers and Timeshare

Leases. Key aspects of that role included building consensus across the

Leadership Team relative to business and real estate strategy and its correlating

implementation.

Prior to engaging in Healthcare Real Estate, Mike spent 16 years as a Managing

Director and Sr. Vice President with CBRE and Tramell Crow Company within

Her division leads strategic real estate decision making and provides financial and management oversight for real estate transactions, including all acquisitions and leasing. She also directs property management and commercial construction for Northwestern's 9 million square foot commercial and residential real estate portfolio; the portfolio spans across the downtown medical campus and the Chicago’s northern and western suburbs. Ms. Weldy received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University and a Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management. She is the Vice Chair of Urban Land Institute’s Healthcare & Life sciences Council and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago

Christopher Bowen

Healthcare Real Estate Developer

Irgens, LLC

Throughout his career, Chris Bowen, in addition to his work on hospital campuses, has played an integral role in

fostering the national movement from institutionally-driven to community-driven and integrated care through the

development of medical services within a market-focused, “neighborhood” platform.

Early on, working with a group of visionary physician leaders and building one of the early multi-specialty,

physician practice management companies – he learned the elements critical to successfully developing a medical

practice aligned with both the medical-side and the consumer-side of any given community and marketplace.

Further, he was exposed to practice-specific process improvement methodologies that forever colored his

approach to practice development and eventually, healthcare real estate and facility development at the national

level.

Chris was instrumental in building three of the nation’s leading real estate companies and platforms responsible for

defining new ways to develop and fund partnerships and medical space that would impact the delivery of

healthcare both on and off hospital campuses.

In 2011, he crossed back over to the healthcare provider side of the business when he joined Vein Clinics of

America (“VCA” – a wholly-owned subsidiary of IntegraMed and Sagard Capital) as Vice President – Practice

Development. In this role, Chris guided VCA away from its historical practice of developing clinics in corporate

office parks to developing in community-based, retail-oriented locations. While taking the business from 30 clinics

to 60 clinics in 14 states in 36 months, Chris and his team fully restructured the company’s supply chain function

and built a national, high-volume retail roll-out platform, specialized to fully support VCA’s aggressive, medical

clinic/procedure center development and branding objectives.

Today, as a national, healthcare real estate investor and developer with Irgens, Chris is helping bring medical

specialty brands and services to communities throughout the United States through his work with healthcare

decision-makers and stake-holders representing health systems, hospitals, medical groups and other healthcare

corporate players.
