Sam Kennedy

PRESIDENTS PANEL

Boston Red Sox

Sam Kennedy is entering his 18th season with the club and his third as President and Chief

Executive Officer. In addition to his role with the Red Sox, Kennedy also acts as Chief Executive

of Fenway Sports Management, a sports marketing and sales agency that is a sister company to

the Red Sox under the Fenway Sports Group family.

A native of Brookline, MA, who grew up within walking distance of Fenway Park, Kennedy, 45,

joined the Red Sox in 2002 after 6 years working for the San Diego Padres from 1996 - 2001.

Since joining the Red Sox, Kennedy has played a key role in the dramatic growth of the Red Sox

brand. Recalling the days that he was able to come into the ballpark on his dad’s clergy pass,

Kennedy’s particular focus the past few years has been on encouraging kids to come to the ballpark

to experience Fenway Park through the creation of a “Kids Only” Gate K and a free ticket for all

kids that sign up for Red Sox Kid Nation. Outside of the 81 days a year of baseball, Kennedy has

also been instrumental in the transformation of Fenway Park into a year round venue, including

concerts, hockey, soccer, football and even a “Big Air” skiing and snowboarding competition

requiring construction of a 150 foot high ramp from centerfield to home plate.

In 2004, Kennedy helped create Fenway Sports Management and has overseen its growth from

that of a start-up to a world class sports marketing agency with an international roster of clients

that includes not only sister companies the Red Sox, LFC, NESN and Roush Fenway Racing, but

also partnerships with Boston College, Major League Baseball Advanced Media, the Dell

Technologies Championship, and a landmark marketing partnership with NBA superstar Lebron

James.

Kennedy has received many recognitions during his time with the Red Sox, including Boston

Business Journal’s 40 under 40 Award and his induction into the Sports Business Journal’s 40

Rob DeMartini

PRESIDENTS PANEL

New Balance

Rob DeMartini, President and CEO, joined the New Balance team in May 2007, bringing with

him extensive knowledge and experience from a diverse background in consumer products

business. Drawn to New Balance for its commitment to brand authenticity and responsible

leadership, DeMartini achieved his first order of business in 2007 by guiding the company’s

leadership team in the development of a responsible growth strategic plan. The plan nurtured

and cultivated the unique culture of New Balance while also driving aggressive global growth.

Over the past 5 years New Balance has doubled global sales to more than $3.7 B and achieved

one of the highest growth rates in the athletic footwear and apparel industry. Growth has been

delivered by increasing investment in product quality & design, improving digital branding and

direct consumer experiences, and by building associate capability while maintaining the

powerful culture at New Balance. In addition, DeMartini has promoted the importance of owned

manufacturing.  He played a key role in working with government and industry officials, on

behalf of the industry, to secure implementation of Berry Amendment legislation in athletic

footwear. DeMartini is a passionate athlete and cyclist and under his tenure New Balance has

committed to using its footwear, apparel, equipment, technology, and coaching expertise to

inspire movement both with internal associates and consumers across the globe.

DeMartini’s strong business-building experience across various industries and with iconic

brands supports New Balance’s quest to lead the running industry and strengthen its position as

a top global athletic brand. Prior to joining New Balance, his career at Procter & Gamble

spanned 20 years, beginning in their Food & Beverage Division, and including management

roles with the Gillette Company, North American Snacks, and Millstone Coffee. His small-

business experience at Millstone complements his work in larger environments, such as his

most recent term in 2006 as Group Vice President, Consumer Products for Tyson Foods, a $6+

billion operation.

In addition to his responsibilities at New Balance, 2017 marks the tenth consecutive year for

DeMartini’s participation in the Pan-Mass Challenge, an annual bike-a- thon that benefits cancer

research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. Rob is the

Chairman of the American Apparel and Footwear Association and leads the Pension Investment

Committee and sits on the Compensation Committee. He is a board member of the Two Ten

Footwear Foundation.

Cam Neely

PRESIDENTS PANEL

Boston Bruins

Cam Neely is in his seventh season as President of the Bruins, as on June 16, 2010 he became just the eighth man to hold that position in the history of the franchise.

He oversees all of the club's hockey and business operations and his goal from the start has been that the Bruins be at the forefront of setting industry standards in all areas of operation.

A prime example of that mandate came with the club's July, 2014 announcement of a letter of intent for a long-term lease in a new hockey rink in the Boston Landing development in Boston's Allston-Brighton neighborhood. That project, on which ground was broken in March of 2015, was completed over the summer and the Bruins opened their 2016 training camp in the Warrior Ice Arena, a new practice facility which includes approximately 25,000 square feet of dedicated locker room, training and office space.

Neely assumed his current position in his fourth season in the team's front office, as he returned to the organization in September, 2007 as a Vice President. He also serves as an Alternate Governor of the club. It was under his leadership that the Bruins were honored as the Sports Business Journal's 2012 Sports Team of the Year based on the criteria of "excellence, growth, creativity, innovation, sound planning, implementation and outcomes".

No player ever wore a Bruins sweater with more pride than Neely and no one was prouder than he while watching the 2010-11 Bruins squad develop the belief in themselves and each other en route to the Stanley Cup championship. The competitive instinct that fueled him, as a player has not left him as an executive and his goal for the organization remains to return the Cup to Boston.

A 1983 first round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks, Neely came to Boston on his 21st birthday in a June, 1986 trade. His potent blend of offensive talent and a punishing physical presence quickly endeared him to Bruins fans and he became one of the most revered players in team history. He earned four NHL Second-Team All-Star berths in Boston, led the team in goals for seven seasons and in points twice and he still ranks fifth overall on the club's all-time goal list and ninth overall on the team's all-time scoring list. He is the club's all-time leader in playoff goals and ranks seventh overall in team history with 87 career playoff points.

He became just the fifth Bruin in team history to record a 50-goal season when he set a club record for goals by a right wing with 55 in 1989-90 and he was just the second player in team history to record consecutive 50-goal campaigns when he followed that with 51 tallies in 1990-91. His 50 goals in only 44 games in 1993-94 tied as the second-fastest such feat in NHL history and was all the more remarkable because he had missed most of the previous season with thigh and knee injuries. The 1993-94 winner of the Bill Masterton Trophy was forced into retirement by those injuries in September, 1996.

The Bruins retired his number 8 on January 12, 2004 ceremonies and he was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005. He was honored with the league's Lester Patrick Award in 2010 for his "outstanding service to hockey in the United States". He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

His impact on the city of Boston was not confined to the ice, as he has long been actively involved in many charitable efforts. Along with his brother and sisters, he established the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care in 1995 in memory of his parents, Mike and Marlene. In addition to the Neely House, which provides housing and support for families of patients undergoing cancer treatments, the Foundation supports the Neely Cancer Fund, whose initiatives include the Neely Center for Clinical Cancer Research, the Neely Cell Therapy and Collection Center and the Neely Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in its mission to fund treatment and research efforts.

Neely and his wife Paulina have two children.
