Ken recently joined DIRTT’s national healthcare strategic accounts team, which is transforming healthcare interior construction through the utilization of prefabricated assemblies and digital tools. Working with health systems, together with construction and design leaders, DIRTT builds flexible, adaptable, and resilient interior environments. Prior to DIRTT, he worked at Premier, Inc., a healthcare group purchasing company, where he served for nine years as a facilities and construction subject matter expert. Prior to Premier, Ken spent twenty-two years in the commercial design-build construction industry where he was responsible for directing the design and managing the construction of over five million square feet of medical, office, industrial, retail and military spaces. He served in various roles from onsite superintendent, project manager, and vice president of operations. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering from Purdue University. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising, spending time with his wife, and supporting his four children in their various academic, athletic, and musical pursuits.

Andy Beck is Managing Director of Development for the Texas region. He responsible for leading

Gemdale USA’s real estate development activities in Dallas and Austin. Mr. Beck brings 20 years of

development and construction experience with a key focus on execution and project delivery. He has

experience managing all aspects of development from design, entitlements, construction marketing,

leasing and property management. Prior to joining Gemdale USA, Andy worked in a development role at

AvalonBay Communities and Greystar and a construction management role at Swinerton Builders in San

Francisco.

Mr. Beck attained a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration

from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Beck is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Justin serves as Executive Managing Director of Transwestern’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Advisory Services Group and leads the Houston Healthcare & Life Sciences Brokerage Team. With 16 dedicated professionals, the Team leases over 8 million square feet of clinical & lab space, more than any other local firm, and has transacted over 2,000 lease and building sales in the last 5 years. The team specializes in agency leasing, tenant representation, investment services and strategic account management.

Justin has been with Transwestern since 2007 and specializes in providing real estate solutions within this niche space to investors, developers, end users and VC firms. His expertise in leasing, investment services, development, construction and asset management, allows him to apply a holistic lens to any real estate opportunity, resulting in optimal outcomes for Transwestern clients

Zach’s ability to blend the practical and functional nature of a space while maintaining a rigorous design method makes him an important part of the PhiloWilke team. He has a wide variety of experience working with new and renovation projects that require unique research and creative solutions. His critical thinking approach allows him to work efficiently to develop designs that are responsive to client needs and keep the project on budget and schedule.

Recently, Zach presented “Don’t Get Bugged: Designing for Modern Infectious Diseases” on the University of Texas Medical Branch Biocontainment Unit at the Healthcare Design Conference and for The Center for Health Design.

Doug King is Vice President and the healthcare sector lead for Project Management Advisors Inc. Doug’s relationship with PMA began when he served as a healthcare designer at La Rabida Children’s Hospital and Research Center, where he witnessed the strong collaboration and enthusiasm that guides the practice of the firm every day. Doug was drawn to PMA’s people and the level of intellectual curiosity that cultivates creative solutions for the client and ultimately a successful project outcome.

Doug is a respected leader in the healthcare industry with over 40 years of experience in complex, large scale new/renovated healthcare projects, demonstrating his skills as a designer, educator and researcher. He will lend his expertise in healthcare planning, design, construction and regulatory compliance to PMA’s growing roster of healthcare clients and position the firm to serve the evolving needs of healthcare developments now and well into the future. Doug holds a Masters of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Detroit/Mercy in Detroit, Michigan.

Jack Kolar is the Vice President of Mission Critical Business at TAS; where he has held several leadership roles since 2001. He has collaborated with clientele to develop several standard model series of prefabricated data center support equipment; including electrical, mechanical, and complete data hall solutions. He has delivered chilling for data halls sufficient for over one gigawatt over power consumed, and has served clients throughout North America as well as the EMEA region.

In addition to developing modular solutions, he has contributed innovation advancements in liquid cooling for data, via the Two-phase Immersion method. Jack studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri - Rolla. He earned the PMP certification from PMI in 2012, and he was issued the eighth HVAC contracting license issued by the State of Texas. He served as president of the Houston chapter of ASHRAE in 1994-1995.

He holds the Uptime Institute’s Accredited Operations Specialist – Expert certification.

Maninder “Mini” Kahlon, PhD, is a founding vice dean of Dell Medical School, where she facilitates the development of innovations that advance health beyond the clinic. She is an associate professor in the Department of Population Health and the founder of Factor Health, a lab that identifies opportunities to develop programs that rapidly improve health in people’s lives.

Arriving in 2014 to help establish Austin’s new medical school, she launched Texas Health Catalyst, Dell Med’s health translation platform for drugs, diagnostics, devices and digital health. She has been a founding chair of the Austin Healthcare Council and served as vice chair for health innovation at the Austin Chamber of Commerce. She has served, uncompensated, on the board of Austin-based Babson Diagnostics, a Siemens and BD-backed retail diagnostics innovator, and the University Federal Credit Union.

Kahlon was previously the executive director and chief information officer at the University of California San Francisco’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute. She is an award-winning technology leader with experience in industry and academic medicine, building consumer-facing and research-enabling tools. Kahlon is a behavioral and systems neuroscientist, receiving her Ph.D. from UCSF. She is also a graduate of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

Ruben Rathnasingham has more than 15 years of biomedical leadership experience in several companies founded on technologies invented and developed in academic institutions. In his current role as the assistant dean for health product innovation at Dell Medical School, he is responsible for creating and growing initiatives to support health-related translational research at UT Austin.

Most recently, he was associate director of early translational research at the University of California, San Francisco, where he helped develop and led the UCSF Catalyst Program that successfully leveraged industry partners to help identify, support and translate technologies through and out of the university. Prior to his tenure in academia, Rathnasingham co-founded and grew a number of health care companies including StrataGent Life Sciences, where he helped develop a needle-free, wearable infusion pump that was honored with a 2010 Edison Award for Best New Product.

Vasquez, MHA, was named in August 2019 the Chief Operating Officer of Ascension Texas.

Previously, Christann served as regional hospital president for Dell Seton Medical Center at The University

of Texas, Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin and Ascension Seton Shoal Creek. Christann joined Seton

in August 2014 as the inaugural president of Dell Seton Medical Center and the president of University

Medical Center Brackenridge. In 2016, she successfully opened our new academic medical center and

collaborated with the medical school to recruit faculty for the school and strengthen academic and clinical

programs.

During her tenure as regional hospital president, she developed a burn center for

our 11-county region; has worked to launch the new abdominal transplant

program; assisted with the development of an adult cystic fibrosis clinic at

Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin; and participated with other executives to launch a new

Administrative Residency Program, among other accomplishments.

Prior to Ascension Seton, Christann served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of

University Health System, a partner of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and led

the strategic planning for and construction of a replacement for University Hospital. She also served as vice

president and chief executive officer in the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System for more than 14 years

in Houston and a past chief operating and chief financial officer for Harris County Public Health and

Environmental Services. Christann holds a master’s degree in Hospital Administration from the University of

Houston, Clear Lake and a B.S. in Applied Behavioral Sciences from George Williams College in Illinois.

Christann is married to Scott Vasquez, her high school sweetheart and they have three amazing children,

Devin, Kelsey and Steven.

Norman H. Chenven, M.D., is a Family Physician and the Founding Chief Executive Officer of Austin Regional Clinic (ARC), a 380 physician multi-specialty medical group that serves the greater Austin metropolitan area with 33 clinical locations. ARC provides care to approximately 550,000 Central Texans in fourteen cities and four counties. Dr. Chenven developed Covenant Management Systems (CMS) in 1999, a practice management company, third party administrator and management services organization that provides technical support and services to hospitals, medical groups, provider networks and governmental and employer based health plans.

He received his undergraduate degree in physics from Brown University, medical degree from the State University of New York Medical Science Center in Brooklyn and post graduate training at Bexar County Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He spent 2 years on a Navajo Reservation as General Medical Officer in Indian Health Service. He started his career in Austin as an Emergency Room Physician at Brackenridge, Austin, and subsequently founded Austin Regional Clinic.

Thomas McKinney is an executive leader with more than twenty

years in health care. He currently serves as the President of

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-San Marcos where he leads a team

of 500+ health care professionals at the 170-bed acute care hospital, including a 30+ provider

multispecialty group. In this role, Thomas manages operational and financial performance,

quality and patient experience, physician relations, system integration, as well as strategic and

sustainable market development.

In April 2020, Thomas led the operational transition team and finalized the acquisition of Central

Texas Medical Center by CHRISTUS Health, at which point he was invited to serve as the

President. Over the last decade, Thomas has directed acquisition and transition teams, managed

complex operational environments with in various P&Ls, and expanded or created new service

lines for the following: women and children’s care and services; cardiology; mental health and

wellness; ambulatory care; post-acute care, including home health and hospice; peri-operative

services, including neurology, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, pediatrics, and neurospine.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-San Marcos is Thomas’s 4th hospital as president and his 2nd

acquisition.

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the University of North Texas

and holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the Seton Hall University of South

Orange, New Jersey. He also received a Certificate of Completion in Medical Technology from

the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Thomas is a Fellow of the

American College of Healthcare Executives and is board certified by the American Society of

Clinical Pathology.

Thomas, along with his wife of 23 years, Julie, and their two daughters, Katie (15) and Lily (10),

love camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends

For Anthony, listening is the most important thing he does. As a senior medical planner, a regional healthcare director, a Sr. Principal, and a mentor, listening to others is essential to his success.

Through Anthony's 30+ year career, he has witnessed a tremendous amount of change in the healthcare industry. Change motivates Anthony because change means progress. From international ventures to office startups and 1M-SF outpatient centers to feasibility studies, Anthony has experienced it all.

A leader in medical design and planning, Anthony has earned a national reputation for achieving improved alignment between evolving operational demands and architectural outcomes, and for his inclusive approach to the process. His signature leadership style, defined by energy and empathy, galvanizes diverse groups, sometimes with competing agendas, to positive action. His success in coalescing individuals and teams around the larger project — a building, an organization, or an issue — has garnered project awards, leadership positions, and the respect of his clients and colleagues across the world.

As a healthcare architect on dozens of projects, Anthony has been actively involved in developing new operational models for a range of specialized spaces, from nursing stations and patient rooms to emergency centers and operating rooms. His many lectures, national speaking engagements and published articles are testament that he is a valued contributor to ground-breaking work in evidence based design and has helped pioneer research and testing of new environments to support efficiency, performance, and staffing concepts.

Anthony received his Bachelor of Environmental Design and Master of Architecture from Texas A&M University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architect’s College of Fellows and a Fellow within the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA).
