Successfully managed business operations in various industries such as master-planned communities, home-building, resorts and tourism destinations, marinas, golf courses, retail and F&B, business and industrial parks, and higher education.

Scott joined Northmarq in May 2020 to expand the company’s Investment Sales platform across Texas. He focuses on establishing and maintaining client relationships, and providing advisory, transactional, debt structures and equity sourcing services to multifamily owners and developers. He is part of the company’s Built-to-Rent and Institutional Advisory practice groups. Prior to joining Northmarq, Scott was a Managing Director and Team Lead at Jones Lang LaSalle for six years, and a Senior Director and senior executive over central Texas for Institutional Property Advisors, a Marcus and Millichap company, for 12 years. During the last 18 years, Scott’s direct transactional and oversight experience exceeds $7 billion. With more than 50,000 apartment units sold, Scott is recognized as a market expert and is frequently called upon to speak or provide commentary at real estate conferences and in media outlets. In addition, Scott serves as an advisor for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Beige Book publication. In addition to his multifamily brokerage experience, Scott served as the regional manager for two of Marcus & Millichap’s flagship offices in Los Angeles and Encino California, and was the Western United States Director for Special Asset Services where he was charged with supporting more than 300 senior agents and creating direct client relationships with many of the nation’s largest financial institutions and servicers.

Scott Davis is the President of Location Strategy, LLC, a real estate strategy and consulting company. Previously, Scott introduced Zonda to the Texas markets for Meyers Research, and was the Houston Regional Director for Metrostudy. Scott was a top producer locally and regionally CBRE, received the “Land Deal of the Year” award from the Houston Business Journal, and has written two books on how the Millennial generation changed the workplace and faith communities. Scott is a graduate of the University of Texas and is a licensed Texas real estate broker. Mark Grobmyer is a Shareholder in Winstead's Real Estate Development & Investments Practice Group. Mark’s practice is focused on real estate development, with an emphasis on structuring and administering residential, mixed-use and office condominiums, and residential and mixed-use communities. Mark also has experience in a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions including drafting acquisition and disposition contracts, easements and license agreements. In addition to representation of homebuilders, Mark specializes in representing build-for-rent and single-family rental owners and operators on a variety of matters, including acquisition, disposition, land-banking, governance, exit-strategy planning, and regulatory requirement compliance. Mark also represents master planned community developers on the challenges in planning for accommodating build-for-rent and single-family rental projects within and adjacent to new and mature master planned communities, and serves as the Chair of Winstead’s Build-for-Rent and Single Family Rentals Practice Group. Prior to joining Winstead, Mark worked in Washington, D.C. as a legislative aide for United States Senator Blanche L. Lincoln of Arkansas. While attending the University of Arkansas School of Law, Mark worked as a summer clerk in the Office of the Attorney General for the Republic of Palau.

Jerimi Nuckolls is Managing Director of Development for Coastal Ridge, a full-service real estate investment, property management, and development firm executing multifamily and student housing strategies nationally. As Managing Director, he oversees the firm’s development division and serves on the firm’s Investment Committee. He is responsible for guiding and driving new development projects from conception through completion, inclusive of the firm’s build-to-rent cottage community brand, Stillwell. Prior to joining Coastal Ridge, Mr. Nuckolls served as the Director of Development and Senior Financial Analyst for The St. Joe Company (NYSE: JOE). He later served as the Vice President of Community Development with the Southern Land Company, and as Vice President of Planning and Entitlements for the Howard Group. Mr. Nuckolls received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and real estate from the University of Georgia. A licensed Professional Landscape Architect, he is an active member of the Urban Land Institute’s Florida Community Housing and Development Product Council as well as the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance Advisory Committee. Jerimi and his family reside in Watersound, Florida.

Matt focused on the SFR and BTR institutional segment. Matt previously held the role of Director of Portfolio Credit where he helped develop LendingOne's non-recourse portfolio program. Matt has over 15 years of real estate experience and has held roles at Redwood Trust and Jones Lang LaSalle. Matt holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Hamilton College and a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Karen is the Managing Director of Build-to-Rent for RangeWater Real Estate in the property management division. She is responsible for supporting the Senior Managing Director and Executive Managing Director in overseeing the operations of the management division for the build-to-rent platform, maintaining client relations, and overseeing a client- based portfolio within multifamily. Karen joined RangeWater in 2014 with more than 15 years of management experience mostly in multifamily. Her experience includes the direct management of properties ranging from lease-ups and new developments to value-add renovations. Karen has extensive knowledge in the Atlanta, Mid-Atlantic, and Florida markets with experience in the Mid-West as well. Karen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Administration with an emphasis in Business Management from Georgia Southern University. She is an Executive Certified Property Manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management. Karen is also a member of the National Apartment Association, the Atlanta Apartment Association, and the National Association of Realtors. She currently resides in Newnan, GA, with her two children, Camden and Abigail.

Max Friedman is a Partner at Banyan Residential, where he is responsible for overseeing the full-cycle execution of Banyan’s $2.2 billion development pipeline as the firm’s development team leader. Mr. Friedman most recently served as a Director of Real Estate Investments at Camden Property Trust (NYSE: CPT), a leading U.S. multifamily REIT, where he managed a development pipeline of over 2,000 apartment units in select CA and AZ markets. Prior to Camden, Max was a Development Associate at Carr Properties, a private office REIT based in Washington, D.C. While at Carr, Mr. Friedman worked on over 3.5 million square feet of mixed-use urban infill developments in DC, MD and VA, including Midtown Center, the sixth-largest office completion in the United States (2018). Mr. Friedman began his real estate career as a broker at CBRE in Washington. Max holds a Masters degree in Real Estate Finance from Georgetown University and a BA from the University of Michigan. Mr. Friedman is an active member of Urban Land Institute, and serves as a Big Brother mentor in the BBBS-LA program through the Jewish Federation in Los Angeles. Max is an avid surfer and skier and lives with his dog Ellie in LA.

Steven is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Spatial Laser, a software company that helps single-family rental investment funds and build-for-rent developers automatically evaluate investment opportunities with laser precision. Spatial Laser’s software suite helps acquisitions and asset management teams perform automated underwriting, workflow management, and market analysis. Previously, Steven worked for 12 years at JLL, a global real estate services firm, as a commercial real estate research director. Steven led teams that built data visualizations, geospatial applications, and dashboards. While at JLL, Steven also worked in the Asia-Pacific region, advising global real estate capital on country, region, city, submarket and asset class investment strategies, and conducted market studies on investment opportunities. He also advised global chain retailers on site location strategies and is now working to bring similar techniques to the single-family rental industry. Steven is an active private investor in single family rentals in the southern United States. Mr. Castillo has over 22-years of experience in commercial real estate and development with another 9-years in architecture. He is also an Architect and a U.S. Army Veteran, plus, holds both a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Architecture degrees from Texas Tech University. Throughout Mr. Castillo’s real estate development career, he has led real estate development efforts for multiple build-to-rent, multifamily, and high-rise mixed-use development projects, moreover, he has personally managed over 29+ zoning cases for multiple development projects across the United States. Before coming to PlaceMKR, Mr. Castillo was the Managing Director for Urban Moment, a Build-to-rent/Single-family-to-rent Texas based development firm with over a $1BN in equity allocated toward BTR/SFR developments. He led the company’s corporate development, partnership, and acquisition strategy. During and prior to his period with Urban Moment, he has been working on BTR/SFR and multifamily development efforts for several years, with numerous communities developed and/or breaking ground. He has an extensive understanding of the BTR/SFR development process and has a versatile background which understands real estate development from multiple points-of-view. Prior to Urban Moment, Mr. Castillo was the Chief Operating Officer for De La Vega Capital and led the company’s strategy and growth with an emphasis on De La Vega’s national real estate development efforts. Prior to De La Vega, Mr. Castillo was the Senior Vice President for HALL Group and lead the development efforts for HALL; he oversaw real estate endeavors, entitlements, design, and financial oversight for all new ground-up development projects for Dallas, Frisco, and Napa.

Povieng has deep expertise in the real estate industry and most recently served as Co-President, North American Rental Division at Empire Communities where he helped launch the company's build-to-rent operations with communities in Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina. Previously, Povieng was the President, Southern California at Encore Capital Management, a real estate private equity firm where he led land acquisitions and homebuilding operations on for-sale and rental housing communities. Povieng’s previous real estate experience included senior management roles at KB Home and Pulte Group where he oversaw teams responsible for land acquisition, entitlements, purchasing, development, and construction. Povieng earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California, San Diego, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. Povieng is also a licensed general engineering contractor, general building contractor, and real estate broker.

Chris Kopacek specializes in business development for Lonestar Development Partners. He is responsible for investor relations, debt and equity sourcing and broadening Lonestar’s network. Mr. Kopacek has an MBA from The University of Texas and was a former F-16 fighter pilot and a distinguished graduate from the U.S Air Force Academy.

Mark Barton is the Denver Division President for Catamount Constructors, Inc., a 100% employee-owned national general contractor. Barton has 23 years of construction experience and has been with Catamount since 2007. He has executive oversight on all of Catamount’s Single Family for Rent projects and is an expert in business development, building operations teams and programs, and client/subcontractor management. Barton holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

Trey’s principal area of practice relates to public finance, development, local government regulation, and state legislative matters. He regularly represents special districts whose chief purpose is providing water, sewer, drainage, roads, and parks. Trey also represents developers in connection with economic development agreements, tax increment reinvestment zones, local government corporations, municipal management districts, and other financing mechanisms used to facilitate development and financing of public works and infrastructure. He serves as general counsel and bond counsel to special districts. Trey works with developers to structure development agreements with cities and other local government entities for public participation in commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. Legislative Activities. Trey has worked to draft significant pieces of legislation and lobby for their passage, including changes to Chapters 49, 51, 54, and 57 of the Water Code, Chapter 375 of the Texas Local Government Code, and Chapter 311 of the Texas Tax Code affecting the administration and operation of water districts; municipal management districts, and tax increment reinvestment zones (TIRZ’s), respectively; and reforming the process of granting “Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity” (CCN’s) by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)/ Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) by providing greater rights to landowners.
