Mervyn Alphonso is Executive Vice President & Partner with Anchor Health Properties. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, he lends his acute understanding of the healthcare real estate sector across Anchor’s business platforms. With more than 20 years specializing in the healthcare real estate industry, he is involved in the firm's investments and development platforms, including leading acquisition transactions, as well as development projects and management engagements.

Offering significant knowledge of the healthcare sector, Mervyn’s depth of experience as an accomplished professional, includes acquisitions, development, financial feasibility, site selection and evaluation, and asset management.

His prior career experience includes six years as a Managing Director with NexCore Group as well as serving as a Director with Alvarez & Marsal and in addition, he spent time earlier in his career with Hammes Company.

He currently serves on Industry Advisory Board of the Virginia Tech Program in Real Estate and is also a member of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP). In addition, he has previously served on the organizing and leadership committee of the BOMA International Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities conference.

Mervyn earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

Amanda Mewborn

Amanda Mewborn is Group Vice President of Planning, Design, and Construction at Advocate Health, the third largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the US. Amanda leads a team to manage over $2 Billion in annual construction spend across six states. Amanda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Tech, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Georgia State, and a Master of Science degree in health systems from Georgia Tech. She is a registered nurse, Lean Black Belt from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, and quality and process improvement Black Belt from Mercer University. She currently serves as Past-President of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, founding member of the Georgia Chapter of Women in Healthcare, Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and Diplomate and past president of the Society for Health Systems. In 2018, she was recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a “Top 40 Business Leader Under Age 40,” and in 2021, she was recognized by Women in Healthcare as “Outstanding Leader of the Year.”

Leigh Ann Vogel is a senior professional with over 25 years of experience in electrical engineering. In her role, she manages multi-disciplinary projects, spearheads business development, and provides technical leadership.

Past projects that Leigh oversaw encompass the healthcare, commercial, governmental, education, hospitality, and multifamily industries, with budget ranges from $250,000 to $100 million. Her clients included the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, medical centers across the Southeast, Walt Disney World, Edwards Life Sciences, The Irvine Company, and the Orange County Fire Authority.

A resident of Clayton, Georgia, Ms. Vogel received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She is a licensed engineer in ten states, and is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the Illuminating Engineering Society, and Women in Healthcare.

Dr. Marta New obtained a degree in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2006) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University (2009). She then obtained an MBA in Finance and Marketing at Kellogg School of Management in Chicago (2011). Dr. New has extensive experience in venture capital investments and continues to translate that experience into tangible solutions for clients in need of strategic product development, fundraising, and commercialization of preclinical therapeutics.

Dr. Marta New is the founder and CEO of Radyus Research. As an experienced drug developer with a background in early-stage venture capital, large pharma R&D, and university technology transfer, she brings invaluable business acumen and extensive international connections to Radyus. Dr. New’s previous roles as partner at Agent Capital, principal investor at Baxalta Ventures, commercial lead at Baxter International’s renal franchise, and entrepreneur in residence at Northwestern University have helped her establish the foundation for the work done at Radyus.

At Agent Capital, Dr. New participated in multiple venture capital investments in oncology, immunology, and rare disease areas, including Pliant Therapeutics (NASDAQ:PLRX), Orchard Therapeutics (NASDAQ:ORTX), and Verge Genomics. At Baxalta Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Baxalta in Cambridge, MA, Dr. New participated in multiple venture capital investments and served as a board observer for Gadeta BV, Syntimmune, and Vitesse Biologics (early-stage accelerator funded by Baxalta, Mayo Clinic, and Velocity Pharmaceutical Development). At Northwestern University’s technology transfer office, Dr. New served as an entrepreneur in residence and facilitated formation of several biotech spinout companies in the oncology and CNS space.

Dr. New received her PhD in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University. She then earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing at Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

Dr. New spent most of her career translating early academic research into differentiated therapeutics and draws her expertise from positions at Baxter, Baxalta Ventures, Agent Capital, and Northwestern’s technology transfer. Additionally, she has participated in building several successful academic spinouts and invested in over 20 biotech companies.

Dr. New aims to advise Radyus clients regarding strategies for successful product development, fundraising, and commercialization.

Clark Dean helps directs Transwestern’s Occupier Solutions business and is the founder of the company’s Transaction Sciences platform, which operates across service lines. Clark is a member of Transwestern’s Board of Directors and its National Occupier Solutions Steering Committee. He also helps lead the company’s global partnerships with BNP Paribas Real Estate and Devencore.

With a background in biomedical engineering, management consulting, and financial structuring, Clark is known for being a disruptive innovator in the brokerage industry. His Transaction Sciences practice combines robust brokerage capabilities with behavioral science, organizational science, and decision science to deliver real estate solutions that optimize culture, function, and economics for occupiers and investors. Prior to joining Transwestern, Clark was a founding principal of Studley’s

Corporate Services Group where he spent over a decade working on some of the firm’s largest and most complex assignments. Before that, Clark was a management consultant and later chief operating officer for a management consulting firm specializing in strategic and operational consulting for insurance and financial service companies. He began his real estate career with Studley as a financial

analyst in Washington, DC.

Edward “Eddie” Lai is the Senior Manager of Life Sciences & Digital Health Ecosystem Expansion for the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC). He directs MAC's recruitment and growth strategies for the Life Science (Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices/Instruments, animal/agriculture bioscience), Digital Health (Health IT, mobile health, wearable devices, telehealth and telemedicine, and personalized medicine), and Age Tech ecosystems. Prior to joining the Chamber, he came to Atlanta from Boston for a role at metro Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare as an Operations & Strategy Administrative Fellow working on hospital and system-wide initiatives including COVID-19 Supply Chain procurement and outpatient COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Operation. He subsequently joined the Emory Healthcare Innovation Hub as its first Administrator, engaging with companies external to Emory as well as with internal stakeholders to operationalize projects within the health system.

Eddie earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a minor in Health Services Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. After graduation, he served in AmeriCorps in a high school in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone. He then earned his Master of Public Health with a concentration in Healthcare Management and a certificate in Pharmaceutical Development, Delivery, and Access from the Boston University School of Public Health. He is also the co-founder of the Association of Asian Healthcare Leaders (AAHL).
