Biscred Identifies the Largest General Contractors in Commercial Real Estate
Proprietary CRE Database Ranks Top GCs By Project Volume, Asset Class Specialization, And Geographic Presence
BISWIRE/April 1, 2026 — Biscred, the commercial real estate industry’s largest prospecting database, has released its ranking of the largest general contractors in CRE, drawing on data from more than 584,000 companies and nearly 30,000 general contractors in its platform. The list ranks GCs by number of completed projects and includes findings on dominant asset classes and top U.S. markets.
Venture Construction Company, headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, leads the ranking with more than 18,700 CRE projects, concentrated primarily in retail and restaurant construction. W.L. Hall Co. (Minneapolis) and Curry Construction (Mattoon, Illinois) follow, with approximately 15,000 and 14,700 projects respectively. Albert M. Higley Company and Triton Construction Group round out the top five, each with more than 10,000 completed projects.
Among the 37 general contracting firms in Biscred’s database with estimated annual revenue exceeding $1 billion, office leads all asset class experience with more than 15,100 affiliated companies. Retail (14,700), industrial (12,300), hospitality (12,250), multifamily (11,000), and healthcare (10,600) follow. The data reflects the breadth of experience larger GCs carry across property types — and gives CRE professionals a clearer picture of where specialized capacity actually sits.
Geographically, California leads with more than 4,000 GC company headquarters in the database. Florida (3,299), Texas (2,596), New York (1,588), Illinois (1,201), Pennsylvania (1,073), and North Carolina (992) follow. The concentration mirrors population density, but also points to where development activity and construction pipelines remain most active.
