Opening & Closing!

Last night we went to the opening party reception for Ambar in Eastern Market.

Ambar showcases the best dishes throughout the Balkan Peninsula with a modern twist. We snapped Johnna Knows Food’s Johnna Rowe, Michael Devito and Girl Meets Food’s Mary Kong-Devito.

Evolve (Puzzle) MSDC
Here, Molly Malone's and Lola's Barracks Bar & Grill's GM James Baer, Kylie Belcher, and Circa's Chris Baer.
Bartender Mirjana Vidojevic.
Ambar owner Ivan Iricanin, assistant GM Sibila Hatala, and event coordinator Damali Saddler.
It's DC's first Rakia Bar, an alcoholic beverage produced by distillation of fermented fruit popular throughout the Balkans. Guests enjoyed specialty drinks such as the mango lemonade, grappa sour, and Balkan negroni.

Hearts!

To get in the mood for Heart’s Delight, the three day wine and food extravaganza the first weekend in May, we joined supporters at downtown’s Sofitel Hotel. We snapped AHA exec director Heidi Arnold surrounded by supporters: Kevin Sidders from Charlottesville, who just joined the auction committee, Sofitel GM Pierre-Louis Renon, and Morgan Stanley’s Grant Barker.

Auction committee chair and LCG Systems CEO Conrad Kenley is with PwC’s Sean Ballington, Lewis PR’s Ian Lipner, and Gil Guarino, just retired from CACI, who says he just likes to drink wine and travel.

So Long H Street!

We stopped by H Street Playhouse over the weekend for its official farewell celebration. After over 10 years on H Street, it’s moving to a new location in Anacostia. The Jaynettes, a local doo-wop group featuring Adele Robey, Thea Austen, Linda Norton, Julia Robey Christian, Peggy O'Brien, Raye LeValley and Chris McGahey, performed classics including Why Do Fools Fall in Love, One Fine Day, and Please, Mr. Postman that got the crowd up and dancing.

Guests enjoyed mini booze-infused cupcakes from Crunkcakes, wine, PBR and Abita beer. We snapped H Street theater fans Caitlin Archer and Craig Fauver.

Jeté Society!

We also joined The Washington Ballet’s Jeté Society at its first Happy Hour of 2013. Guests enjoyed drink and food specials at Ping Pong Dim Sum in Dupont Circle. We snapped Jeté Society member Khaleelah Porome, George Tagg, Jr., and president Joy Robertson.

The Jeté Society unites local young professionals to raise funds and awareness for The Washington Ballet. Ten percent of the evening’s bar tab went toward the Society’s Philanthropic Fund for THEARC EXCEL Scholarships.  Here, artist Blair Sutton, Carlos Sanchez, Cary Thompson, and Brody Group, LLC’s Michael Brody.

Alfredo Flores, Merjan Bubernack, and Erica Moody contributed to this issue.
